Bakewell Agricultural & Horticultural Society Open Show 21/07/2018 Border Terriers Judge Tracey Anscombe (Orangebox) Thank you for the invitation to judge your border terrier classes. The location is very picture postcard. My two lady stewards were simply wonderful, thank you. I had a lovely entry of quality dogs with some very close decisions. Coats were at differing stages which did play its part. I had no bad mouths or kinked tails and all dogs were entire. Class 119 - Puppy (6 Entries 3 Absent) 1st Dassett Last Waltz BPIB Fine upstanding nine month old male. Very much the showman who shouts look at me and doesn't disappoint on closer inspection. Lovely head of correct proportions with a small ear and kind eye. Coat due a refresh but was still of harsh consistency and he has plenty of pelt. Moved well around the ring keeping his shape and uses his carrot shaped tail well. I liked his size and attitude. I am sure he will trouble the best with maturity. 2nd Otterwood Diodem Sweet bitch just six months old who is just changing her coat. Beautiful feminine head with a correct bite of large teeth. Well placed ears which framed her expression. She moved well for her age but just couldn't match 1 in coat and maturity but it is all there and I will watch her progress with interest. 3rd Kenteen Taff Class 120 - Junior (6 Entries 2 Absent) 1st Dassett Last Waltz See 1st Puppy, He was the best mover in this class 2nd Otterpaws Mountain High Love this boys head! Small well set ears, powerful jaw housing large teeth. Shown in good tight coat and he has pelt. Easy spanned with lay back of rib. He was a little unsettled on the move but was OK once he got in tune with his handler. 3rd Nottorg Nostalgia Res Billyboy Blue at Chevinor Class 121 Special Yearling (2 Entries) 1st Tarkaswell Smart Move to Otterwood RBOB Dark grizzle dog in the best if coats with harsh texture and dense undercoat. Spanned well and he flows from head to tail. He moved OK in the class but a little unsettled. In the challenge he moved with more drive and a good tracking motion which pipped him to RBOB over the 2nd in Open. I liked his head and expression. 2nd Blaisdon Step in Time Pretty red grizzle bitch shown again in correct coat. Lovely lay of rib which made her easy to span. Liked her head and super short tail. All in proportion. She moved OK but did lose her top line maybe due to the uneven surface. Class 122 Graduate (1 Entry 1 Absent) Class 123 Post Graduate (3 Entries 1 Absent) 1st Otterpaws Muninn Another cracking head from this kennel! Grizzle dog in new coat just coming in. Stands on neat feet and moved well around the ring. I understand that he was placed 1st in the brace class with his kennel mate. 2nd Picer Angelica to Nottorg JW ShCM Nice bitch of a good size, easy spanned punched the dog hard for 1st place but couldn't match him for coat today. She has a pretty head with large teeth. Moved well. Class 124 Open (7 Entries 3 Absent) 1st Dandyhow Friendly Fire at Chevinor ShCM BOB Cracking border that I have admired from ringside so was a pleasure to finally get the chance to judge him. Light grizzle dog shown in really good jacket. Lovely rib making him narrow throughout so easy to span. Stands on small tight feet with neat nails. He again commanded the ring moving with purpose in true tracking action and couldn't be denied Best of Breed. 2nd Borderxpress Miss Potter Lovely grizzle bitch who pushed hard for the top honours. Another one that I have watched from ring side and was a pleasure to get the opportunity for a closer inspection! She is a lovely size with correct rib and easily spanned. Pleasing in head with tidy ears, correct bite and good eye. Moved OK but not with quite the same drive as 1st. 3rd Blaisdon Bow Brilliant Res Kensteen Taff
