Crystal Palace Canine Association

Many thanks to the society for their kind invitation to judge SCWT, Finnish Lapphunds, Hounds & the Hound Group. I had a very enjoyable day and the quality of the dogs was very high. It was especially pleasing to see really good numbers in a number of the classes; which, coupled with the quality, made for some tough decisions.   

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier 

Junior Dog/Bitch ( 2)  1st Munns Snowmeadow Suzy Sixpence  Lovely, very neat and lively girl of just over 12 months. Very typical,  feminine  head, decent eye . Nice neck, shoulder and front. Good rib, body, tail set and rear. Moved OK.  2nd Howells Abiqua Wild Piannisima. Best Puppy. Attractive puppy who just needs a little more experience in the ring. Feminine head and expression, neat ears. Just preferred the neck on winner.

Open (6)  Lovely class.   1st Johnstones Loofahsa Fiamma Rouxboos  Good skull, neat ears and lovely eye and pigmentation. Good shoulders and neck, well ribbed with strong short loin and good topline and tailset. Sound and accurate on the move with a fluid easy action. Excellent coat texture and colour. BOB    2nd Satherley/Smiths Am Ch Haldane Chasin’ Tail  Pushed the winner hard as she too is a bitch of some quality and style. Good head and expression, good forehand with some breadth and depth of chest, well sprung rib and good topline. Her coat is a good colour and texture. On the day, just preferred hind action of winner   3rd Bristow’s Kellnack Viva La Passione For Avard   

Finnish Lapphund 

Open (1)  1st Jacksons Lecibsin Ukas To Elbereth (imp Fin)  Cracking male. A joy to have the opportunity to go over such a good quality example of the breed. Lovely shape & make, good strong head with correct forehead & stop, strong muzzle, lovely ear & set, good eye colour & shape, good strong neck, correct angulation front & rear, good depth of body, short loin, good tailset. Excellent coat and moved effortlessly. BOB   

Rhodesian Ridgeback 

Puppy D/B (5)  A lovely class of puppies.  1st Catley & McGimpseys Diamondridge Roll The Dice  What a lovely. promising young bitch, just six months of age and of very good breed type and really did present a cracking outline Very feminine head & expression, nice neck, well laid shoulders, ribcage carried well back, good width across thigh, sound positive movement. BP & RBOB  2nd Parkers Priorpark Bruce  Quality male and close up to winner. Lovely shape and style. Moved soundly around the ring well. At this very young age, and much can change, on the day I just preferred head of winner.  3rd Carlincox What Comes Round   

Junior Dog/Bitch (2)  1st Adams’ Carlincox What Comes Around  Very pleasing male in excellent hard condition. Much to admire in this hound. good shoulders, topline & quarters, good bone & feet  2nd Hawkins, Smith & Hodges Oracles Prophecy  Close up to winner. Preferred expression of #1. Well constructed and moved freely around the ring.   

Post Graduate Dog/Bitch (2)  1st Larkins Rubicon Red Dothe Right Thing Royaal Pearl (imp MNE)  Took my eye as she entered the ring, has the required substance, but also elegance & a look of quality. Beautiful head & expression, good strong neck, proper depth of body, length of loin & a strong topline, giving a good reaching stride from the front & power from the rear, covered the ground with ease. BOB    2nd Catley& McGimpseys Diamondridge Distant Dancr  Well balanced and decent head and expression. Just preferred topline of winner on the day.   

Open Dog/Bitch (1)  1st Hawkins & Smiths Veldtkammer Hot Shot of Lonaza ShCM  Quality dog,  good shape & outline, good type, pleasing head & expression,  deep ribs, powerful, well constructed rearquarters, moved OK.    

AVNSC Hound 

Puppy Dog/Bitch (3)  1st McEwans Marunnel Madame Cholet (PBGV)  Devine, seven month old poppet. So outgoing and friendly at all times. Very feminine  head with decent expression, nice ear set and body. Foir her age, so well made ; good ribbing and hindquarters, correct tail. Good coat. Moved well. Reserve Best AVNSC Hound  and Best Puppy.  2nd Boggias Inas Fashion Design By Boughton(Greyhound)  Six months of age. Lovely outline coupled with free and easy gait. Very feminine head and lovely, flowing neck into great shoulders.   3rd Wests Byabye Brillare With Archidax (Mini W/H Dachshund)   

Junior D/B (6)  1st Reid’s Fox’s Nightmare Jessica Biel At Maudaxi (Imp Rus) (PBGV)  Very well balanced 13 month old dog, with a good head, excellent front conformation strong hindquarters, level topline correct coat, moved very well.  2nd Williams’ Tigsisle Totally Unique (Saluki)  A beautiful bitch, built on flowing lines. Loved her head and eye shape, smooth shoulders with good return of upper arm. Long ribcage and excellent topline and under line. Good bone and feet. On the move she moved with a light, balanced, effortless action and was a joy to watch.  3rd Mcewan’s Marunnel Orinoco (PBGV)    

Post Graduate D/B (4)  1st Foglias Kentixen Abies Grandis ( Dachs W/H)  Well balanced and has lots of quality. Good forehand with adequate bone, good keel, strong well ribbed body with excellent topline. Strong well muscled hindquarters and moved well.   2nd Nicholls Natures Masterpiece Fantastic Toyboy (Imp Fin) (Basenji)  Lovely head with good wrinkle, well set on and held ears. Good length of well crested neck leading into well laid shoulders. Level topline, well ribbed back with well set on tail. Good length of leg. On the day, would prefer slightly better front action  3rd Moores Afterglow Dough Ble Impact (PBGV)   

Open(9)  1st Boggias Boughton Balenciaga (Greyhound)  Beautifully conditioned bitch with very feminine head. Long, crested neck. Shoulders well laid. Grand body and  topline. Well bent stifle and effortless movement. Best AVNSC  2nd Reids Maudaxi Nick Nack (PBGV)  A favourtie of mine – I judged him at one of his first shows a few years ago.  A cracking PBGV with excellent head and expression. Unfortunate to meet the greyhound in such great form.   3rd Sampsons Odisseia De Viamonte At Morialta (Portugese Podengo)     

Hound Group   

Group 1 – Reids Ir Ch/Bel Ch Algernon Prince At Maudaxi (Griffon Fauve De Bretagne)  Very impressive male. Very well made and in superb condition. Superb head and correct eye shape and colour. Stong and powerful neck into well made forequarters. Correct length to height proportions. Ribs well sprung and carried well back. Good short back with muscular loin. Level topline. Superb, effortless movement, so true from all angles. A pleasure to go over such a high quality dog. 

Group 2 - Shepherds Citycroft Sundae With Oxana JW ShCM (Whippet)  High quality whippet who is in great condition and handled to perfection in an unobtrusive and calm way.  Very high quality and  stylish male. Shapely with good neck and shoulders, presents a pleasing outline with his good depth of brisket and gracefully arched loin. Good head properties. Stands well covering plenty of ground and he pleased on the move with a good length of stride and some power from the rear. 

Group 3 – Boggia’s Boughton Balenciaga (Greyhound)  Beautifully conditioned bitch with very feminine head. Long, crested neck. Shoulders well laid. Grand body and  topline. Well bent stifle and effortless movement. 

Group 4 - Larkins Rubicon Red Dothe Right Thing Royaal Pearl (imp MNE) (Rhodeisan Ridgeback)  Took my eye as she entered the breed ring, has the required substance, but also elegance & a look of quality. Beautiful head & expression, good strong neck, proper depth of body, length of loin & a strong topline, giving a good reaching stride from the front & power from the rear, covered the ground with ease       

Hound Puppy Group   

Puppy Group 1 – Protheroes Royalmaple Fiddle Sticks (Mini Smooth Dachshund)  Very stylish 8 months male, head of good length, super front assembly with well filled crook & very firm elbows, good topline, really came into his own on the move with his very typical defiant head carriage & excellent front extension.

Good reach of neck into good shoulders. Level top line, proportionate depth of chest for age. Well made quarters with good feet. Moved OK
