My thanks to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at this show and for their excellent hospitality on the day. My thanks also to all the exhibitors for their entries and to my stewards who kept things running very smoothly for me. Sadly we did not have the best of weather but everyone coped very well and there was a good atmosphere at the show.

I was very pleased with my group line ups as there was a great depth of quality dogs to choose from and all were presented in fabulous condition but my winner the Whippet Silkridge Whispering Grass owned by Mr & Mrs R.J. & C.S. Perkins stood out from the rest and eventually went on to win Best In Show on the second day.

Beagle:

A well balanced tri colour dog of 9 months. Correctly proportioned head with slight dome to skull, low set ears of good length, prominent stop and dark eyes set well apart giving good expression. Good length of neck down to well laid back shoulders and straight legs with good bone set nicely under. Short coupled body with a deep chest and well sprung ribs. To his rear he has well bent stifles, firm muscles and strong hocks. On the move he covered the ground with long strides and driving from behind. B.P.I.B. and Hound puppy group 1st.

2nd Hardisty Ms S Blunderhall Moondog.

Another quality tri colour dog of 10 months. Again compactly built and well balanced throughout he has a masculine head with a good dark eye. Good front and rear which showed in his movement with reach in front and drive from behind. He was presented in excellent muscle condition.

A well balanced compact 17 month old tri colour bitch. Loved her head which was correctly proportioned in length and width. Appealing expression from her dark eyes set well apart. Straight front with good bone and well laid shoulders. Deep chest with good spring of rib and a short well muscled loin. Correct rear with good bend of stifles. She was presented in great muscular condition and she moved freely around the ring. R.B.O.B.

2nd Hardisty Ms S Blunderhall Sunray.

A well balanced tri colour dog of 10 months. Masculine head of good proportions. Correct front with well laid back shoulders. Compact body length and deep in his chest all finished by a well muscled rear with well bent stifles and firm hocks. Moved well just losing out on maturity to the bitch.

1st Caple Mr M Tregoniggie Colour Of Magic At Morsefield JW ShCM.

Well what can I say I loved this sturdy and compact tri colour bitch of nearly 5 from when I last judged her and she is just stunning. She is compactly built with nothing exaggerated but all in proportion to compliment her balanced outline. I loved her head which has good length and is moderately wide with a slightly domed skull, prominent stop and dark eyes set nicely apart to give a very appealing expression. Low set ears of good length and rounded at tips. Good length of neck which carried her head well on the move. Correct straight front with well laid back shoulders, plenty of bone and nice tight feet. Her body is deep in chest with good spring of rib and a well muscled short loin. High set tail carried up when moving. Her rear compliments her front with well bent stifles, firm hocks and plenty of muscle. All of this comes together when she moves showing good length of stride and plenty of drive from behind. B.O.B. and Hound Group 2nd.

A beautiful tri colour bitch of 20 months. Balanced throughout she has a good head, correct front with nice bone and good depth of chest. Strong well muscled rear with well bent stifles and strong hocks. She moved well over the ground.

A well balanced dog of nearly eight years of age. Flat skull of moderate width and a dark eye giving a keen expression. Straight front with good bone and well laid back shoulders. Deep in chest with good spring of ribs and a level top line. Well muscled rear with a moderate bend of stifle and tight round feet. He moved freely across the ground. R.B.O.B.

Clean cut handsome dog of just over 3 years who I am sure has the stamina to do a day’s work. Balanced head with good width, slight stop, flat skull. dark eyes and high set ears. Slight arch to his powerful neck and well laid back shoulders with plenty of muscle. Good body with a deep chest, broad level back and a strong loin with a high set on of tail. Strong rear with good muscle, moderately bent stifles and hocks well let down. He moved effortlessly over the ground with good drive from behind. B.O.B.

A graceful black and cream dog of 10 moths. Correct head with good length and dark oval eye. Sloping shoulders which are set well back and have good muscle. Deep chest with correct width and good cut up. Strong rear with well developed thighs, a moderate bend of stifle, hocks low to ground and strong feet with well arched toes. He moved effortlessly around the ring with good reach in front and drives from behind. B.P.I.B.

Handsome nicely balanced 4 year old red and white dog. Correctly proportioned well chiselled head of medium width with slight stop. Dark almond shaped eyes and small erect ears set well forward. Good strong front with muscular well laid back shoulders and straight legs. Level back of short length and good depth to his oval ribcage. High set curled tail which lies closely to thigh. Well muscled rear with good length of second thighs and moderately bent stifles. Moved well with good length of stride B.O.B.

A well balanced elegant bitch of 18 months. Correctly proportioned feminine head of good length with slight dome to skull and powerful jaws. Dark almond eyes giving an intelligent expression. Correct front with shoulders sloping well back and with good muscle. Oval shaped deep chest to elbows, back rising in slight curve over last rib with good fall away at rear. Well angulated rear with good length of thighs and well muscled. Low set to tail of good length. She moved effortlessly with good reach and drive. R.B.O.B.

Another quality hound and litter brother to winner of post graduate he is well balanced throughout. Correct in head and eye with an intelligent expression. Well laid back shoulders and elbows tucked in against his brisket. Short in back and correct rear with moderately bent stifles he was presented in good muscle and moved well over the ground.

Handsome fawn dog of 8 months. He is well balanced with good length of head, slight stop, dark oval eyes all carried on a long slightly arched neck. Straight in front with strong pasterns and well laid back shoulders. Deep chest with well sprung ribs and good tuck up to his strong loin. Well bent stifles to rear and good second thighs. He moved effortlessly with good reach in front and driving from behind. B.O.B. & B.P.I.B.

Handsome 9 year old dog who is full of quality and not showing any sign of his age. Correctly proportioned head which is conical in shape and tapers to his nose with nice eyebrows over his almond shaped dark eye. Prominent breast bone to his front with good length of shoulders and upper arms set correctly and well muscled. Deep chest clear of ground and well ribbed up. Long in back, short well muscled loin and good angulation to his well muscled rear. Presented in a good harsh coat covering his body he moved freely with long strides and good drive. He went on to win Reserve Best Veteran in Show on the next day.

2nd Paskins Mr K & Mrs S.M. Ch Abydachs Summer Dream At Kindeace ShCM (Dachshund Long-Haired).

Beautiful bitch of 8 years of age presented in good coat and muscle. Correctly proportioned in length and height she stands clear of the ground. Feminine head with nice eyes. Correct front with forearms lying close to her chest and strong breast bone. Strong and broad rear with legs set well apart. She moved well over the ground driving well from behind.

3rd Vaughan Mrs A Shiroate Silken Lady (Whippet).

Hound Group:

1st Perkins Mr & Mrs R.J. & C.S. Silkridge Whispering Grass (Whippet).

I just loved this stunning brindle bitch of two and a half years. She is beautifully balanced in every way and has great ring presence. Elegantly built but powerful enough to do a day’s work. Feminine head of good length with slight stop and oval bright eyes. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm and strong pasterns. Firm back with arch over loin, deep chest and good tuck up. Her rear is well muscled with well bent stifles, well developed second thighs good hocks and nice feet. On the move she showed all of her correct construction demonstrating long reaching low strides and great drive from behind. She went on to win Best In Show on the next day.

3rd Hutchings Mrs F Stargang Hot Cross Bun For Collidach (Dachshund Miniature Smooth-Haired).

Correctly proportioned bitch of just over two. She is a well balanced compact bitch of correct length presented in good muscular condition. I loved her head which has good length tapering off to her nose which she carried so boldly when moving. Correctly placed shoulders with good return of upper arm. Chest deep with prominent breast bone and sufficiently clear of the ground. Strong broad rump with rear legs set well apart She moved well with long strides and driving from behind.

4th Naish Mrs P Tokwe Ginvincible With Mutoko (Rhodesian Ridgeback).

Beautiful 15 month old red wheaten bitch who is full of quality and breed type and one I am sure is capable of great endurance as she was presented in excellent muscle. Flat skull of correct length, well made front with good bone and sloping shoulders. Good depth of chest and strong loin. Strong rear with a good turn of stifle and well let down hocks. She moved very actively across the ground.

A beautiful red wheaten bitch full of quality I loved her balanced outline which showed just how well made she is. Feminine head with round bright eyes giving an intelligent expression. Good front and rear assembly with plenty of muscle. Deep in chest to elbow, strong back with nice ridge on top with symmetrical crowns and strong loin with slight arch over. She moved well over the ground demonstrating great power.

3rd Kerry Mrs T & Miss R Kireton Hebe ( Dachshund Miniature Smooth-Haired).

A compactly made black and tan bitch of 10 months she is correctly balanced in length and height. Feminine in head with almond shaped eyes giving an intelligent expression. Her front has good length of shoulders with matching return of upper arm and short forelegs all set around her prominent breast bone. Well ribbed up underline that merges into her abdomen and a strong broad rump. Well muscled rear legs which she used well showing good drive and covering the ground well.

4th Middleton Mr & Mrs G & S Davashey Madam Hooch (Afghan Hound).

Very raw six month old black and tan bitch who shows promise for the future. She is balanced in outline and moves very well for one so young. Feminine in head with dark triangular eye. Well laid back shoulders with good return of upper arm. Deep chest with good spring of rib, short well muscled loin. Her rear has well bent stifles with good muscle. She moved with good reach in front and drive from behind.
