Coventry (Foleshill) Canine Association

Coventry (Foleshill) Canine Association Open show – 04/11/18

A small entry but on the whole; I think possibly because of a clash with a breed club show and a toy dog open show. Nevertheless, there were some quality exhibits for me to go over. I know dentition is a concern within the breed, but the entry I went over today all had nice dentition.

Chihuahua (Long Coat)

Puppy – no entries

Post Graduate (4,2) 1. Craggs’ Reynoldco Sweet William, 14 month old, red boy. Lovely head that for me typifies the breed standard. Excellent ear set with large flaring ears and excellent fringing. Lovely eyes and excellent bite. Cobby body with nice coupling and brisket. Level topline, kept level on the move with accurate movement fore and aft, lovely coat for age, confident showman. BOB and pleased to see him take Toy Group 3. 2. Byrdy’s Especially For You Mirasol Polonia, 19 month old, chocolate bitch. Nice head, but preferred head and use of ears on 1. Correct dentition, lighter in pigment, level topline but topline on 1 was more level when on the move. Nice well sprung ribs, movement fore and aft good. Would prefer more coat.

Open (1,0) 1. Byrdy’s Domi Ventura Ferrero Rocher, 2 year old, black and tan bitch. Good head with well-placed and used ears displaying nice fringing. Correct dentition. Level topline when on the move, accurate movement at the front but a little close behind. Quite spirited on the move but did settle in the end. RBOB.

Chihuahua (Smooth Coat)

Puppy (1,0) 1. Slavinec’s Charonchi Tilly Trotter, 11 month old, fawn and white bitch. Particularly liked her head with nice stop and correct dentition, lovely expression with well used ears. Level topline leading to excellent tail set, good turn of stifle. A little unsure of herself in the class but pulled herself together in the challenge. Stood on her own but never the less a worthy winner. BOB, BPIB and pleased to see her awarded Toy Puppy Group 4.

Post Graduate (2,0) 1. Slavinec’s Copymear Chance At Charonchi, 16 month old, red and white dog. Nice head with correct dentition, accurate front and rear movement, level topline, kept level on the move, excellent tail set, but preferred the head and muzzle of the Puppy class winner. Moved accurately and with confidence. RBOB 2. Vaickus’ Be My Johny Svajoniu Angelas, 2 year old, cream dog. Liked his head with nice apple dome, dentition ok, good turn of stifle, very unsure of himself in the ring which reflected in his movement; he was stronger in front movement than rear.

Open (1,0) 1. Vaickus’ Be My Johny Svajoniu Angelas, as above.
