Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Wales

BERNESE MOUNTAIN DOG CLUB OF WALES

28 JUL 18

I was delighted with both my entry and my welcome at the BMD Club of Wales. A delightful well run day filled with bara brith, fabulous temperaments and an atmosphere that both the exhibitors and committee should be very proud of.

The BMD is a working dog and should be fit and well muscled, some exhibits were carrying too much weight which affected movement and will, in time, affect overall health. Pleased to see that handlers moved dogs at the correct pace.

PGD 2(0)

Perks’ Kernow Festival Buzz, RBD. Very pleasing head with strong, flat skull. Well presented. Would prefer less upright shoulder but better on the move in profile than coming to and going away. Good croup and nice compact feet.

Bateman’s Funatic Definitely Maybe about Santala (Imp). Well muscled and preferred shoulder to that of 1 but closer behind than I would prefer and carrying a little bit too much weight. Head less flashy but still appealed.

LD 4(1)

Perks’ Kernow Festival Buzz (as previous class).

Fairclough’s Monalou Spirit of Discovery ShCM. Slightly longer than 1. Masculine head and not moved to full advantage.

Ratcliffe’s Welshbern Seven Seas of Rhye at Tribern ShCM. Longer in loin than I would prefer, profile movement is excellent but unfortunately lacked the muscle and condition of the 2 ahead of him.

OD 3(1)

Bird’s Ch. Kernow Something ShCM, BD & RBIS. Balanced and well turned out. Tidy feet and good in profile. Adequate coming to and going away. Nice croup and in good condition. Heavily coated.

Round’s Ch Collansues Black Magic. Balanced and good turn of stifle, would prefer better pasterns as slight weakness here.

MPB 2(1)

Ball’s Santala Aventurine BPB & BPIS. Well proportioned , pretty head and still very immature but good puppy muscle. Very much puppy movement on the out and back but still has plenty of time. Handler is a novice but is very much at one with her dog.

SYB 3(0)

Bird/Head’s Cullumbern Roman Toga with Millermead JW. Balanced and in proportion, well muscled, still a little growing to do, covered ground well. Pleasing head and tidy feet, ok on the out and back.

Morgan’s Judabern Betty Blue. Developing nicely but rear not its fortune, lacking coat at the moment but nicely constructed.

Baker’s Bernfawr Just My Luck. Moved well in profile, pleasing head, showing a little haw in eyes but head still growing. Would prefer a bit more substance, movement on out and back lost this bitch to 3rd place.

PGB 7(3)

Morgan’s Judabern Betty Blue (as previous class).

Baker’s Bernfawr Just My Luck (as previous class).

Baker’s Tinland Molly Malone. Would prefer more condition as losing top-line but has balance. Didn’t move or handle as well as it could have.

Perks’ Bernfawr Hot Spice. Just a bit too much all over at the moment as carrying too much weight.

LB 8(2)

Miles’ Jaybiem Burli Shassi JW, BB & BIS. Feminine head and well balanced, good bone. Moved beautifully both out and back and in profile, well muscled and stood 4 square. Challenged hard for BB and BIS.

Jones’ Lujento L’wren Bacall with Welshbern. Well handled and in good condition. Good angulation but didn’t cover ground as well as 1 but good in profile, possible that the surface may have prevented this.

Hills’ Halesbern Totally Bindi of Chyburne. Well muscled and moved well in profile. Pleasing head.

OB 3(0)

Morgan’s Welshbern Sweet Lady at Judabern RBB. Well balanced and boned. Pretty head and covered ground beautifully in profile with excellent reach. Challenged hard for RBB will be watching her progress with interest.

Hills’ Halesbern Totally Bindi of Chyburne. Heavily coated and previously seen but showing more reach than 3rd.

Miles’ Jaybiem My My My JW. Should have moved better as conformation suggests this dog should have more forward reach. Well balanced.
