Plymouth & District Canine Society

I thank the committee of this well organised show for their invitation to judge. It was an extremely hot day and I am sure that the heat affected the performance of some exhibits. I tried to allow the dogs to rest in the shade where I could. Curly Coated Retrievers O 1 Courtier’s Sh Ch Maycourt Hunky Dorey, liver bitch, well put together as you expect from this kennel with pleasing head and correctly set ears. Well proportioned and moving positively BOB; 2 Courtier’s Maycourt Crimson Moon, very typical 2 year old bitch soundly constructed with good coat, correctly shaped head and eye colour, not matching the movement of her kennel mate today; 3 Edworthy’s Maycourt Cadillac Italian Spinone O 1 Moore’s Scodinzolare Perla D’Oro Pretty 13 mth old bitch, very raw consistent with her age but correctly proportioned and moving well. BOB. Pointers P 1 Dykes’ Fleurfield Magic Flute at Briartor, very naughty but appealing bitch. Sound fore and aft with well padded feet and quality bone. Moved well when settled. BP. O 1 Matthews’ Medogold Tartini with Sonham, quality bitch of Just over 12 mths, correctly proportioned head, strong neck into well laid shoulders. Happy and with a gleaming coat BOB; 2 Tannahill’s Wynbury Walter Jack, shorter cast dog, well put together with quality bone and tight feet. Preferred the movement of 1; 3 Osman’s Fleurfield Firethorn at Marissolo NSDTR P 1 Vaughan’s Katimba Malvasia of Valsannra, 8 mth old male with pleasing head and strong front assembly. Quality coat and correctly set tail BP. PG 1 Vaughan’s Katimba Malvasia of Valsannra. OD 1 Morgan’s Erikachen O’Ruadh For Deltandamba , quality masculine medium sized dog. Correct head shape and eye colour with pleasing expression. Nicely made & in hard condition and with a full coat. BOB & Grp 3; 2 Vaughan’s Born to Run for Valsannra, from a larger mould that 1, typical in head and correctly proportioned, down on his pasterns today. 3 Ward’s Melanitta Fireblade. OB 1 Palfrey’s Flushpoint Whata Accident for Melanitta (IMP), well put together bitch, with pleasing head correct eye shape and colour and good length of neck. Moved OK. RBOB; 2 Morgan’s Redaurora Comet’s Christmas of Deltandamba, sound all through with tight feet and in hard muscular condition. I preferred the topline of 1; 3 Ward’s Melanitta Morning Glory. German Shorthaired Pointer P 1 Clark’s Braneath Grouse, soundly constructed dog puppy with strong rear end. Quality bone, tight feet and free movement completing the picture. BP; 2 Birkenshaw’s Barleyarch Sabrita for Gilcar, feminine bitch with good length of neck and moderate angulation. Adequate bone and tight feet allowing sound movement. Not the maturity of 1. O 1 Serpa & Griffith’s Sh Ch Barleyarch Trumpeter, soundly constructed dog with masculine correctly proportioned head with pleasing eyes. Good length of neck. Free and sound mover. BOB. Cocker Spaniel P 1 Smith’s Meakwood East N Rose, well proportioned and merry blue roan, pleasing head with tight dark eyes in full coat and moving well. BP; 2 Parkhouse’s Shiyani Summer Breeze P, pretty black and white. Soundly put together and moving OK but looking less mature than 1; Y 1 Masters & Dott’s Manchela Lady Million , very pretty and well made black & white bitch. Immaculately presented and in full coat. Perhaps hampered by the extreme heat today. RBOB. PG 1 Parkhouse’s Sandaluga Magic Spell for Shivani, extremely soundly constructed dog with good length of neck. Carrying no excess weight which allowed sound and free movement. BOB; 2 Pearn’s Fonesse Fingibson in Gwbert, heavier all through than the winner and immaculately presented. English Springer Spaniel P 1 Merrick’s Tiverstone Statesman at Stormerick, impressive looking black and white dog. Well made with masculine head good length of neck, quality bone and tight feet sound mover. BOB & BP & PG2; 2 Kibby’s Tiverstone Ladys Delight, liver and white sister to winner with feminine head. Otherwise similar comments apply but not looking as mature as her brother today.NSC Gundog O 1 Rutland & Jones’ Khamsynn Coast Liason (Weimaraner), feminine 4 year old finished bitch. Well made and correctly proportioned, pleasing all through. BNSC; 2 Kerslake’s Kuantan Cosworth (Weimaraner), powerfully built young male with good bone and sound feet. Not the length of neck of the winner or movement today. RBNS; 3 Leeming’s Ashlowrick Ladies Day Large Munster. Gundog Grp 1 Merrick’s Stormerick Abbey Crunch, Golden Retriever, very typical, soundly constructed and free moving bitch in full coat who didn’t put a foot wrong; 2 Cooves’ Draketor Sea Shanty, Flatcoated Retriever, medium sized masculine dog excelling head and construction; 3 NSDT; 4 McIlwaine & Reynold’s Kamunting Cast Away to Benoveor, WSS, impressive & extremely well presented dog who powered round the ring at one with his handler. Gundog Puppy Grp 1 Baker’s Achouffe Smokey Diamond, Slovakian Rough Haired Pointer, very sound and unexaggerated, allowing good free flowing movement. One to watch; 2 ESS; 3 Mcilwaine & Reynold’s Benoveor Galway Girl, WSS, very promising, pretty and sound puppy with free movement; 4 Merrick’s Stormerick Constance, Golden Ret, 11 month old very typy bitch with good pigmentation and sound movement who I see is daughter to the Grp winner. RBOB in Grp 1 Lewis’ Lovehayne Bijou Among Fairwinds, Golden Ret, beautifully presented and well handled. Lighter coated bitch with lots to like. AV Gundog Puppy 1 Roberts’ Jetsetter Cristalle to Polmennor, Irish Setter, pretty 7 month old bitch, pleasing proportions with prominent prosternum, quality coat and tight feet; 2 Smith’s Meakwood East N Rose. AV Gundog Veteran 1 Tannahill’s Wynbury Ailsa, Pointer, medium sized bitch with good length of neck, well made with quality bone and lovely feet moved well; 2 Edworthy’s Sh Ch Maycourt Chase The Ace, Curly Coated Ret, soundly constructed dog with masculine head, in lovely coat with good forehand and strong rear end; 3 Rutland & Jones’ Sh Ch Khamsynn Carry On Camping. AV Members Open Stakes 1 Groves’ Lateagain Heart Of Gold (Dobermann), medium sized, muscular and elegant she really filled the eye; 2 Smith’s Ch Snowshoes Aurora Borealis (Malamute) Correctly boned and sound mover in good coat; 3 Szcezepanski’s Ch Catsun Coral Eclipse (Puli)
