I should like to extend my sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee for inviting me to judge at this show. It was a very enjoyable day and I greatly appreciated the opportunity of this appointment to assess some lovely dogs.
Particularly pleasing was seeing the Welsh Springer BOB and the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever take Best in Show Groups 3 and 4 respectively, with my Welsh Springer BP taking Puppy Group 3.
Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling) – Puppy (2)
1ST Smith, Mrs K, Tivalake Anything Goes At Tollisty: Very attractive and feminine bitch of 7 months of age, correct size and proportions for age, lovely head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, correct ear placement and carriage, super neck into well placed shoulders, nicely bodied at this stage, well made hindquarters, moved extremely well showing accurate movement both fore and aft – pleased to see her shortlisted in a strong puppy group. BP
2ND Newson, Ms D & Miss T, Tivalake Lets Misbehave: Super puppy male of just 7 months and litter brother to my first placed bitch. Well balanced all through and slightly more mature than his litter sister. Well proportioned head and pleasing expression to match. Correct clean and complete dentition. Good forehand assembly and has a correct layback of shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Ribcage of good length into strong loin. Well made hindquarters, bone of excellent substance throughout and excellent feet with short nails. Moved well.
Retriever (Nova Scotia Duck Tolling) – Yearling (3)
1ST Titovets & Eremin, Mrs Y & Mr S, Macdreams Trent From Cashel Vale RL3 AT/SLO JCH: What a truly stunning young male, this dog is. I have judged him before but now at nearly 2 years of age how he has come on in 7 months. Extremely well balanced in overall outline and appearance, of medium size yet powerful with super muscletone all through. Excellent wedge-shaped head with moderate stop and flat cheeks, medium sized eye, which could be a fraction darker being very critical, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest and short back, well bent stifles, tight round feet, super quality bone all through. Excellent on the move and whenever asked both fore and after and shows super side gait – I believe that this dog will be a future big winner in this breed. BOB & Group 4
2ND Foster-Brown, Mrs A, Stellenbosch Sausaulito: Pleasing young bitch of just 15 Months of age. Good head and expression, soft eye, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong, medium length neck leading into well placed shoulders, loin of optimum length, good bone and feet with short nails, Moved well but unfortunate to meet this winner of this class today. A nice and pleasing example of the breed.
