I should like to thank the Officers and Committee for their most generous invitation to judge at this show culminating in awarding Best In Show. It was a great honour and I thoroughly enjoyed my day and the opportunity to assess many quality dogs. 

Hungarian Vizsla - Junior (2, 1abs):

1ST Parker & Murray’s Menta of Skyrocket. Just 6 months ultra feminine bitch, super head and expression, dentition clean, correct and complete. Well placed shoulder and return of upper arm very good bone all through, short nails. Moved soundly. A lovely example of the breed

Hungarian Vizsla - Post Graduate (3, 1abs):

1ST Grant’s Flixraign Highland Fling ShCM. 3 year old bitch, correct head and proportions, correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest of good width, good bone strong hindquarters, moved well but nails could be shorter.

2ND Parker & Murray’s Bonbrandee Lucky Penny. Bitch of just 17 months maturing well, pleasing head, correct clean and complete dentition, deep chest well placed shoulders, moved well but as with first placed bitch, nails could be much shorter.

Hungarian Vizsla - Open (4, 1abs):

1st Legg & Scott’s Sh Ch Rhapsody In Blue JW ShCM. Beautifully balanced 5 year old bitch of very good quality, lovely head and expression, correct clean and complete dentition, very good neck into very well placed shoulder and return of upper arm, deep chest strong compact loin, moved very well but nails could be shorter. BOB

Weimaraner - Junior (5, 3abs):

1ST MacLaine & Dickson’s Greyspirit Hope So. 14 month bitch of pleasing overall proportions, good head, correct clean and complete dentition, good reach of neck into well placed shoulders, strong loin, moderate turn of stifle, moved well but nails could be shorter.

2ND McMahon’s Silverkelvin Jupiter. Male of 12 months, going through a very rangy stage, good head, correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulder and return of upper arm, good bone all through. Nails could be shorter.

Weimaraner - Post Graduate (4, 2abs):

1ST McAngus, Howarth & Haseley’s Gunult Articulate at Grayfurs. 19 month bitch, well made all through, pleasing head and expression, good neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest, good turn of stifle, level topline, quality bone all through. Nails could be shorter. Moved well.

2ND Greyspirit Hope So (winner of Junior)

Weimaraner - Open (4, 1abs):

1ST MacLaine & Dickson’s Greyspirit Purdue JW. 2½ old year old bitch very balanced all through, feminine head, pleasing expression, correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck into very well placed shoulders, deep chest, level topline, moderate turn of stifle, good bone and feet, again the nails could be shorter. moved very well with drive. BOB.

2ND O’Donohue’s Sireva Linesman at Weimsmyre. 3½ year old male, strong and balanced all through, good head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, well placed shoulder, prominent forechest, good bone all through, moderate turn of stifle, nails could be shorter. Moved well.

1ST Gibbon’s Kavacanne Cheeky Vimto at Faubourg. 2½ year old bitch, short back standing over a lot of ground, head of correct proportions, strong neck into correct shoulder and return of upper arm, deep chest, good turn of stifle, moved very well but nails could be a fraction shorter. BOB

2ND Angus’ Barleyarch Lismore Via Calmerell 19 months, male of good type, very good head and correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck excellent front assembly deep chest, very good bone, nails should be a lot shorter, rather hackneyed in his front action

1ST Christie’s Quebaikei Russian Snowfall (ai). 7 month bitch of very good quality, very good head showing correct head planes, good ear carriage, correct clean and complete dentition very good neck into well placed shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm, quality bone all through, moderate turn of stifle moved very well. In excellent coat and condition. BOB, Group 4 and Best Special Minor Puppy in Show

2ND Burrows Quebaikei Witches Spell. Bitch of nearly 3 years, again good quality and type, head of correct proportions, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck into good forehand assembly, deep chest strong loin, moderate turn of stifle, good bone, moved well but kept her head down on the move spoiling profile.

3RD Mackay’s Feriia Jacomelo

Italian Spinone - Open (2, 1):

1ST Christie’s Quebaikei Gavees Remise. 4 year old male of very good quality, excellent head, correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest, quality bone all through, moved well but nails could be a lot shorter.

Brittany - Open (1):

1ST Massie’s Denandmeg Illustrious Miss Aberdon. 5 year old bitch – Well balanced with correct hobby appearance. pleasing head of correct three/two proportions, short neck into well placed shoulder, compact body with short loin. moved on a brisk short stride, BOB

Pointer - Graduate (4):

1ST Gerrard Carmandine Count On Me. 18 month male of good overall balance with symmetrical lines, very good head head, strong neck into excellent forehand assembly, deep chest, strong loin, good turn of stifle, well muscled, good feet spoilt by nails that were too long. Accurate movement showing desired daisy cutting action. BOB

2ND Gerrard & Galloway’s Sharnphilly Santorelli with Carmandine JW. Quality dog with good outline. Well chiselled head, high set ears, clean neck and good shoulder. Deep chest, well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters. At first I thought would be the winner but lost out due to front action being slightly too high

3RD Leith’s Solheim’s Viking Point

Pointer - Open (3):

1ST Gerrard’s Hookwood Showpiece at Carmandine. 5 year old male, very pleasing type, good head and expression, correct clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest moderate turn of stifle and good width to second thigh, good bone all through, tight neat feet spoilt by nails that were too long. Moved very well.

2ND Mackay’s Fleurfield Steals The Dream ShCM. 4 year old male, so sound and typical all through, clean symmetrical outline, very good head and clean neck leading into good forehand assembly, deep chest, moderate turn of stifle, good bone, correct clean and complete dentition, tight neat feet with nails that could be shorter.

Typical head with broad skull, well filled cheeks and strong muzzle, Good depth chest, short broad back with well muscled loin. Powerful hindquarters.excellent bone all through short nails so very sound moved true both fore aft and in side profile. Best AVIR and Group 3.

AV Special Veteran (7-9 Years) (10, 5abs):

1ST Cullen’s Orkathos Lucas At Auchinbreck. 7½ year old Flatcoated Retriever, lovely balanced example presenting in very good and hard condition. Pleasing head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition, good neck into well placed shoulder, deep chest moderate turn of stifle, very nice tight feet with short nails, moved accurately both fore, aft and in profile.

2ND Warden’s Eyevalley Macallan of Glentochty ShCM. 7 year Golden Retriever . Good overall balance. Pleasing head with dark eye and soft expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck leading to good lay of shoulder. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Strong hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet. Not holding topline on the move as well as the winner.

3RD Gray’s Knockotheie Daisy Dunnit.

1ST Leith’s Kossar Summer Breeze. Pointer 11 years old. Good overall balance. Head just starting to lose definition slightly. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Well ribbed back. Moved well with good tail action.

2ND Creig’s Nedlezah Stay My Charmer at Cranngary ShCM. 10 year old Golden Retriever. Wearing his years very well. Good overall balance. Pleasing head with soft expression. Well made forequarters. Good depth of chest. Excellent bone and feet. Moved soundly.

3RD Rolland’s Lolly’s Cocoa Blush at Strathlana. 

AV Minor Puppy Dog – (7, 2abs):

1ST Laidlaw-Good & Blyth’s Fhairmhor Fly Half. Golden Retriever. Excellent overall balance - giving correct breed outline. Correct head with chiselling beneath the eyes. Clean, correct and complete dentition. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest for age. Well ribbed back. Well made hindquarters with excellent bone and feet. Moved well both fore and aft and when viewed in profile.

2ND Ewan’s Craigdean Wllie Nelson. 8 months Cocker Spaniel, Well balanced with square outline. Excellent head with chiselling beneath the eyes and correct low set ears. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Strong neck leading to well laid shoulders. Deep chest. Large ribcage. Level topline. Strong hindquarters. Moved well with good tail action.

2ND McDougall’s Rigeran Merrie Melodies at Todcarhian. Golden Retriever. Not the finish of the winner. Good outline. Pleasing head and expression. Correct, clean and complete dentition. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. In good coat and condition. Not quite the accuracy of the winner on the move.

Laird’s Seaheart Archibald at Daicheil ShCM. Flatcoated Retriever. At nearly six years old he is a classic example of a dog that has taken time to come to his best. Excellent overall balance. Typical head with dark eye and soft expression. Small well set ears leading to clean neck and well laid shoulder. Good depth of chest with gradual spring of rib. Strong well made hindquarters with well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Moved freely - accurate fore and aft and with good length of stride when viewed in profile. My absolute pleasure to award him Best In Show - a worthy winner of this award.

Long neck leading to well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well sprung ribcage. Strong topline with level croup and correctly set on tail. Long stifles with well let down hocks. In excellent coat and condition. Her movement was flowing and effortless.
