I should like to extend my grateful thanks to the Officers and Committee for the invitation to judge at this extremely well run and friendly show, and for the hospitality throughout the day. I was delighted with both the size and quality of my entry.  

Field Spaniels:

Puppy: (1)

1ST Bowley’s Valdine Field of Dreams. 8 month liver bitch, lovely head and expression with correct clean and complete dentition. Good length of neck into well placed shoulder. Correct rib to loin proportions leading through to well made hindquarters. Well boned. Moved well on a steady stride. BP

Graduate: (2)

1ST Wheeler’s Sonnetend Careless Whisper. 22 month male liver. Strongly built all through. I would like a little more refinement in head. Correct forehand angulation. Very good bone although front feet could be tighter. Steady movement - just slightly out at elbow coming in towards.

Open: (6, 4abs)

1ST Moore’s Elgert China Girl For Gadhelic. 2 year old liver bitch. Beautifully made and well balanced all through. Typical head with noble expression. Correct clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Correct topline and tailset. Well muscled hindquarters. Very good bone all through and tight neat feet. Moved powerfully yet not hurried to win BOB and later shortlisted in the Group.

2ND Wheeler’s Tayowen Touch of Elixir. 7 1/2 year old liver bitch. Well made and of good quality all through. Similar to winner but for me just carrying a little too much weight, which showed around the shoulders. Not quite the precise movement of the winner today.

Sussex Spaniels:

Puppy: (2)

1ST Hastings Yorkham Bypolar Bear. At 8 months old this puppy demonstrates excellent construction and breed type. Balanced head with well defined stop and frowning expression. Correct and clean dentition. Strong neck leading to excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep long ribcage. Strong hindquarters. Well boned throughout with excellent feet. Coat of good colour and texture. Moved accurately and soundly at the correct pace for this breed. BP and delighted to watch him win BPIS, a very worthy winner.

2ND Matthews’ Deanway Sweet Rose. Lovely feminine bitch of just 6 months. Full of breed type. Lovely head and expression, correct, clean and complete dentition. Good neck into well placed shoulders. Well made body. Moved well but needs to slow down slightly.

Special Yearling: (3)

1ST Way’s Eald Village Poacher For Shuvick JW. 17 months male demonstrating excellent construction and breed type. Typical head with deep stop and frowning expression. Correct clean and compete dentition. Strong neck into well placed shoulders and return of upper arm. Deep chest, well ribbed back with strong loin and no sign of wastiness. Well made hindquarters. Well boned with thick, strong feet. In excellent coat and condition. Moved very well at the correct speed showing powerful rear drive. My absolute pleasure to award him a well deserved BOB and I was thrilled to see him then be awarded BIS 4.

2ND Wakefield’s Eald Village Temptress. Litter sister to winner and again of very good quality and breed type. Very good head and expression. Strong neck leading into well placed shoulders. Deep chest with good ribcage and strong loin. A little down in pastern. Well made hindquarters. Moved well at correct speed.

3RD Davey’s Eald Village Scandal JW

1ST Ashcroft & Boswell’s Marquell You Know You Know Torshca. 3 year old bitch of good breed type. Feminine head with good stop and frowning expression. Correct clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into well placed shoulders, deep chest and well ribbed back to strong loin. Moderate hind angulation. Tight neat feet quality bone all through. Moved very well.

2ND Davey’s Eald Village Gossip. Pleasing bitch of very good type. Typical head and expression, well placed shoulders with deep chest, strong loin and moderate turn of stifle with straight hocks. Good bone and feet. Not as settled on the move as the winner.

3RD Way’s Norriss Northern Coleridge For Shuvick

1ST Hasting’s Yorkham Yule Love It At Bardings. 4 year old bitch presented in lovely condition. Very good head with well defined stop and frowning expression. Correct clean and complete dentition. Strong neck leading to well placed shoulders. Deep chest. Well ribbed back with strong loin free from wastiness. Moved well. Pushed hard for top honours.

2ND Ashcroft & Boswell’s Marquell Xclamation Mark After Torscha. 4 years old bitch of good overall type and quality. Pleasing head and expression. Strong neck. Deep chest. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet - nails could be a little shorter. Would like to see movement a little slower as she was tending to pin coming in towards.

3RD Wakefield’s Sh Ch/BEL/NED/ Ch Norriss Northern Cassandra

Irish Water Spaniels:

Puppy: (2)

1ST Parr’s Thor of Thingwall. 8 month male of good type and quality, very raw but has all the requisites in place for the future. Good head and expression. Strong muzzle of good length. Well arched neck into well placed shoulders. Rib showing good spring behind the elbow. Well turned stifles. In good coat and condition. Moved well once settled. Perhaps would benefit from ring craft and get used to having his dentition looked at. BOB & BP

2ND Parr’s Dune Dancer. Litter sister to winner and many of the same attributes apply. Pleasing head with high dome and good length of muzzle. Correct forehand construction. Not quite as forward in development at the moment. Well made hindquarters. Coat of good texture.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers:

Puppy: (2)

1ST Moult & Savory’s Croftwell Tickety Boo. Just 7 months old. Well balanced all through. Pleasing head and expression, eye needs to darken slightly. Correct clean and complete dentition. Moderate neck leading to well placed shoulders. Correct depth for age. Well made hindquarters. Tight neat feet with shortest of nails. Moved very well. Would like a little more bone on her even allowing for her tender age. BOB & BP

2ND Ormes & Halpin’s Danehaven Ottertail. 7 months bitch, not as forward in development as the winner but of good type although quite fine all through. Very pleasing head and expression, correct clean and complete dentition. Well placed shoulders. Moderate hind angulation. Moved very well

Graduate: (2)

1ST Croftwell Tickety Boo

2ND Adshead’s Afonbach Dance With The Dragons. Very good quality and type. Up to size but perfectly balanced. Good head and expression with correct clean and complete dentition. Good length of neck leading to excellent layback of shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Moderate hind angulation with correct bone and neat feet. Sadly the ring size didn’t suit her and her movement lacked co-ordination both fore and aft and when viewed in profile.

1ST Moult & Savory’s Eusanit Naughty But Nice For Croftwell JW. 3 year old bitch of good overall balance. Good head and expression with correct clean and complete dentition. Slightly short in neck, well placed shoulders and deep chest. Well ribbed back with strong loin. Well made hindquarters, neat feet. Moved well.

2ND Adshead’s Afonbach Winter is Coming JW. 14 month male of good type, up to size but well balanced. Very good head and expression with correct clean and complete dentition. Strong neck into well placed shoulders. Deep chest, well ribbed back leading to strong loin. Moderately angulated hindquarters. The ring size unfortunately restricted his movement somewhat although he was sound and accurate both fore and aft.

3RD Adshead’s Danehaven Vermilion For Afonbach
