SOUTHERN NEWFOUNDLAND CLUB OPEN SHOW

5H MAY 2018

BITCHES

JUDGE Mrs. Marina Scott (Belsmard)

A real honour to judge at this Club show and with complete agreement with my co—judge, Caroline Friend-Rees, we agreed the W/B bitch to go BIS with the BlackRBB to go RBIS, BVIS also went to the bitch.

The dog puppy Sayle’s Gunners Newf Above ‘N’ Beyond To Infinity Bear we agreed should go BPIS over a very nice puppy bitch. He was of good type, substance and we bodied up for a dog so young, he moved very well with typical slight toll but footfall was excellent and topped off with a very attractive head piece.

Veteran Bitch (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Richards’ SHERIDEL SASQUAHANNA ShCM.

A quality balanced white and black 7 ½ year old bitch to start the day, in excellent condition and just not showing her age at all, very nice balanced head with short but strong muzzle, tight small eyes, that are well set, dark in colour and giving a melting expression, good length of neck into good lay back of shoulder, correct depth of chest, firm topline, medium bend of stifle, long well set tail which was carried well on the move, correct width of front and rear, moved accurately in all directions.

Minor Puppy Bitch (5 entries / 1 absent)

1st Hobbs’ ALPHABEAR SYLVIA'S MOTHER

6 month old black bitch with good bone and substance and liked for her sound and easy ground covering movement, all in proportion, pleasing head and expression, dark eyes which were almond shaped, strong square foreface and with good width, very good straight front, excellent moderate rear angulation, level topline, slight curve over croup to well set tail that was long and carried low on the move.

2nd Aplin’s MERRYBEAR KRYSTAL FOR ALSDEN

Good substance and type, well presented black, broad head and short muzzle, good definition of stop, showing quite a bit of haw but should firm up, ears lying close to head, excellent depth of chest, nice spring of rib, firm front, strong neck, compact tight feet.

3rd Farrar’s DISORANTO JULIANA BLUE AT DARKPEAK

Puppy Bitch (8 entries / 0 absent)

1st Hietschold’s NEWFANGLED BONE VOYAGE TO CHRISHELKATE

BEST PUPPY BITCH

Super sound mover on a loose lead who had the reach and drive I was looking for, totally effortless with each stride and with a low tail carriage which completed the outline on the move, strong neck leading into good lay back of shoulder, chest reaching to elbow with medium spring of rib, very strong level topline which she held firm on the move, moderate rear angulation with medium bend in the stifle , topped off with a very attractive and pleasing head piece for this age, with no signs of any loose skin around her dark almond shaped eyes, good back skull and strong square foreface and excellent dark pigmentation.

2nd Cameron’s CAMNOIRE FINAL VERDICT

Much more mature girl who was presented in superb condition, makes a stunning outline from side profile and has the most gorgeous expression, good breadth and width of skull, defined stop and short muzzle, eyes of almond shape, dark and set well apart, shoulders well laid back, good length of upper arm, well ribbed, level back, strong rear quarters, would like to have seen her move on a loose lead where she could really drop and drive. But a very promising girl.

3rd Richards’ SHERIDEL URSULA

Junior Bitch (5 entries / 1 absent)

1st Richards’ SHERIDEL URSULA, 3rd in previous strong puppy class.

Won this class for type and with sound ground covering movement going away and coming towards. Stunning head which was balanced and with appealing expression, super pigment and dark eyes of almond shape and set well apart, ears positioned just above the eye and lying close to head, substantial bone, the best of top lines, excellent front and rear angulation, long tail carried low on the move, another promising baby.

2nd Leech’s MILEOAK FUJIYAMA CREST

Substantial bone throughout, impressive clean head in proportion to body, in superb condition from nose to tail, large, tight and well padded feet, good depth of chest and well ribbed, strong in the loins, solid rear quarters, long tail that was set on a slightly sloping croup, just would prefer a bit more reach and drive.

3rd Adair’s KING OF HELLULAND LOVE ACTUALLY AT DAREBEAR (Imp Svk)

Graduate Bitch (10 entries / 1 absent)

1st Leech’s MILEOAK FUJIYAMA CREST. 2nd in JB.

2nd Webb’s NEW ANGELS PRETTY IN PINK (Imp Bel). Preferred the front and rear angles on this quality bitch whose movement was solid and accurate, she was also beautifully presented with a correct dense and flat double coat, superb neck line leading into good lay back of shoulder, with matching upper arm, but found her head to be rather overdone, especially heavy in the flews and with too much haw plus she was carrying her tail rather high on the move which spoilt her overall movement.

3rd Black’s CAMNOIRE CRUSH BLACKCOAST JW

Post Graduate Bitch (6 entries / 2 absent)

1st Salmelin’s KIVISILMAN YLEISURHEILIJA 5th in graduate.

Won this class on her powerful and balanced movement which was free and easy but with the typical slight rolling gait and pleasing tail carriage, good depth and width of skull, moderate stop, strong clean foreface, showing a little haw which spoilt an otherwise good head, straight forelegs but elbows could be tighter and could have more width of front, well balanced body proportions with sound and strong rear angulation.

2nd McCafferty’s DEARCHARY TWIST N’ SHOUT

Just off maternal duties and sadly it showed as just dipping behind the shoulders and excessive undercarriage which spoilt an otherwise balanced outline, well off for neck which was set on into a good shoulder, strong straight forelegs, attractive head with smallish ears, strong pigment and well set eyes, just showing a little haw, rather plodded around the ring but good footfall and tail carriage.

3rd Duff’s BEARISLE MARGARET MACDONALD

Limit Bitch (3 entries / 1 absent)

1st Pallett’s SANDBEARS HAWIIAN HOT STUFF TO SHEENMARIE, two beautifully presented and well handled exhibits here but preferred head, tail and head carriage of 1. Slightly longer cast but with a straight topline, excellent strong front assembly, straight front, tight elbows, chest reaching to at least elbow, head in proportion to body with strong skull and clean foreface, brown eyes, almond shaped and well set, square muzzle.

2nd Duff’s BEARISLE’S BIG MAMA

Full of breed type, substantial bone, ample forechest, good spring of rib, a little long in the loin so wasn’t as balanced as I’d like, long tail reaching to at least hock, compact and tight feet, elbows could be tighter and topline could be stronger.

Open Bitch (4 entries / 1 absent)

1st Cameron’s Ch. NANDOBEARS I'M WHAT I'M CAMNOIRE, JW (Imp Deu)

BEST BLACK BITCH ,BEST BLACK IN SHOW, RESERVE BEST BITCH IN SHOW, RESERVE BEST IN SHOW

Outstanding quality black bitch with substantial bone and in A1 condition, who has superb neck and shoulders, balanced head, strong back skull, short muzzle, small eyes with almond shape, giving melting expression, firm topline which she holds level on the move, strong and muscular loins, moderate rear angulation to match her front, stands square on well padded and tight feet, long tail which is well furnished and carried low on the move, she covers so much ground with a long and easy stride and is very accurate coming towards and away.

2nd Ball’s Ch. NEWGRADENS LLORI NANYA, JW ShCM

BEST BROWN BITCH, BEST BROWN IN SHOW

Heavily sculptured balanced brown bitch who put on a fabulous performance to take second in this nice class, strong neck leading into good shoulder lay back, super straight front and with good width, excellent spring of rib, strong loins, moderate rear angulation, medium bend of stifle, hocks well let down, long low tail set, powerful mover especially in the rear and was one of the best going away on the day, in superb clean condition but would prefer a cleaner foreface and a slighter larger head to complete the balanced picture.

3rd Lindley’s SENSITIVITY BLISS NIKITA AT LINDGREAVE (Imp Pol)

Special Open Black Bitch (4 entries / 0 absent)

1st Farrar’s Ch. DARKPEAK FALLEN ANGEL

BEST VETERAN BITCH, BEST VETERAN IN SHOW

Outstanding condition for this 9 ½ year old top size typy girl, had to ask the owner to repeat her answer when I asked her the age, in super muscular condition too but really holding her topline level on the move and with so much reach and drive, she is simply marvellous to watch on the go around, a real balanced girl with the correct leg length, super straight front, excellent forequarters with strong rear angulation to match, tail set follows on from a moderately sloping croup, was pushing hard for RBB but was deligted to see her go BVIS.

2nd Leech’s NANDOBEARS HAPPY HEART AND SOUL, JW (Imp Ger), another beautifully presented exhibit who is very well built, with substantial bone throughout and a large head to match, ears perhaps a touch on the larger side but small & well set dark eyes, makes a nice shape in profile but would prefer a touch more leg length for balance, strong neck, set on well into laid back shoulders, good length of upper arm, well ribbed, topline a little soft but good strong rear angulation, sound mover with low tail carriage.

3rd Black’s CAMNOIRE CRUSH BLACKCOAST JW

Special Open Brown Bitch (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Ball’s Ch. NEWGRADENS LLORI NANYA, JW ShCM

BEST BROWN BITCH, BEST BROWN IN SHOW

2nd in OB.

Special Open White & Black Bitch (1 entry / 0 absent)

1st Groves’ Ch. BRIDGESTONE GRIP IT N'RIP IT, JW

BEST BITCH, BEST WHITE & BLACK BITCH, BEST IN SHOW.BEST W/B IN SHOW.

What a beautiful upstanding bitch to judge as my last dog of the day. When this White and Black bitch walked into the ring, she had it all, the stunning head piece to match a beautifully balanced body with the correct leg length, depth of chest, firm level topline, good tail carriage – I just hoped when she moved it would be as impressive as she felt on the stand, very true in all directions with that slight rolling gait, it was an efficient, free and easy stride with the best rear drive of the day, nothing was exaggerated on her and she has fabulous shoulder placement. Stands so soundly on super compact and tight feet, presented in high order and handled sympathetically.
