Thank you to the committee for inviting me to judge Toys and Gundogs. The lunch was exquisite. Big thanks must also go to my stewards who kept my busy rings running smoothly. I had some super dog to judge and, in some classes, had to make some really tough decisions. Thank you to the exhibitors and being such great sports , congratulating one another. It made for a really lovely day.

1st Brown’s ALTINA’S BAILEYS CREAM AT SNOWVILLA. (1,0) Stood alone. a lovely sable boy. Good head and kind, well laid shoulders, well ribbed, good body and moved out well. BOB

1st (6,0) Beech & Schofield TIDEMILL AUSTIN POWERS Very nice dog, screamed ‘look at me’, typical head with good nose and well open nostrils, nice dark eye and good wrinkle on head, good body with well sprung ribs and carried well back. Lovely in side gait, moved with drive. Pleased to award BOB. Lots to like. 2nd Crumps PIGALLE PANDORAS BOX. Pleasing head, nice dark eye. Good body, not the movement of 1st.
Reid BUBBAPIG MAMMA MIA. Lovely baby. Pleasing head and expression, nice dark eye. Good front and topline. Moved well. BP.

1st (5,2) Crump PIGALLE PLAN BEA. Cobby fawn dog. Pleasing head with good wrinkle. Eye catching presence in the ring. Dark eye and sweet expression. Good body, level top line. Moved with drive.2nd Beech & Schofield TIDEMILL STUART LITTLE ShCM Another that stood out in the class and was unlucky to meet 1st. Lovely head and expression. Nice dark eye, good level topline and twist. Just wish he moved out with more drive.

1st (3,0) Walton’s UNDERKNOLL ROSE GOLD. Lovely ruby 7months old bitch. The best of heads, sweet expression. Slightly arched neck, well laid back shoulders, level topline which held when moving. Moved with drive. BP. 2nd Knapp & Blackie’s VERHEYEN PARIS WITH CRIDENSA. Another lovely ruby puppy. Not the head of 1st but he has time on his side. Good front, arch of neck on to good shoulders, good topline on move. Good turn of stifle and hocks well let down. Good mover.

1st (2,1absent) Walton’s UNDERKNOLL LOVE STORY. Lovely Blenheim youngster. Lovely head, sweet expression. Good front, good reach of neck. Well ribbed for one so young. Moved well.

1st Knapp & Blackie CRIDENSA CONRAD. What a showman! Lots to like about this ruby boy and going over him did not disappoint. In rich coat with Best of head, shallow stop, good dark eye. Sweet expression. Well laid shoulders, good spring of rib. Pleasing turn of stifle. Moved with a driving rear. Delighted to award BOB and I was pleased he topped the Toy group – well deserved. 2nd Walton’s UNDERKNOLL FLAMENCO. Lovely tricolour in good coat, well broken up. Lovely head and kind expression. Good front and clean through shoulders, pleasing topline. Good tailsset. Well-constructed. Unlucky to meet 1st. Not the drive of the class winner.

1st (6, 2absent) Walton’s UNDERKNOLL KIKI. Another lovely type from this kennel. My notes say gave handler a hard time but im not looking for perfect statues. Lovely Blenheim bitch with the gentlest expression. Clean through neck and shoulders. Well ribbed and held strong timeline on the move. Moved out well. 2nd Yeates UNDERKNOLL AMELIA WITH MERRYANNA. Charming tricolour bitch from the same kennel. I liked her a lot, well broken up in rich coat. Soft expression, shallow stop, good ear placement. Good shoulders and well sprung ribs. Well angulated rear, held topline well and moved true.

1st (1,0) McShane BEDELLUS FOREVER AMBER. Lovely dark rounded eyes, and kind expression. Medium length neck, level backline, deep chest of ideal width. Shoulders well sloped. Presented in fabulous coat and condition. Moved well, great presence. BOB

1ST (2,0) Hershaw’s BEAUVIEW SUN BLESSED. Red Pleasing head with cheeky expression. Very smart compact body with good width and depth of chest, straight front, level back. High set tail, good turn of stifles. sound mover. 2nd Murray’s. COBBLEHILL JOKER. Smooth B&T dog. Of cobbier type to first. Lots to like about this young man. Pleasing head and expression. Good front, and spring of rib. Good mover.

1st (2,0) Murray’s CZE CH & GRAND CH DEEP IN MY HEART AR MOUNTARWEN. Lovely head with wonderful expression. My notes say, very smart dog. Well balanced with square cobby body, good depth of chest, good bone, straight front, well muscled with good stifles. BOB.

1st (4,1) Harker HERNWOOD ACHILLES AT ETTRICK. Striking 17month old male. Shown in great condition, well-muscled. He has the loveliest head, overall well balanced. Moderate length of neck and lay of shoulder. Well sprung ribs, deep chest. Level topline. So well made in rear. Sound mover and perfectly balanced profile action. I’ll watch his career with interest. BOB + Group 1. 2nd Brown’s CAIRACAILE CHIANTI WITH MARSHMOOR. Lovely Baby. Lots to like about this one, looked super in profile. Good width of skull and kind eye. Correct dentition. Good lay of shoulders and spring of rib. Great mover BP.

1st (4,1) Line’s FLAXHEATH JUST FOR ME. Well made bitch, pleasing in profile, good front. Pleasing head of correct proportions. Lengthy neck into good shoulders. Deep chest. Well sprung ribs. Would prefer more feathering on tail. Moderate stifle not too much. 2nd MacDonald GRAYLACIER GRAND ILLUSION. Strong masculine male. Good head and front construction. Good depth and spring of rib. Lacked drive on the move.

1st (2,1) Harris and Bridgewater’s BRIGELLA’S FIRST EDITION WITH KONAKAKELA. Orange belton he has plenty of substance for a youngster. Pleasing head with good length to the foreface with nicely squared flews. good length of neck which flows cleanly into well placed shoulders. Deep through the brisket and well developed chest. Pleasing turn of stifle. Moved out well, Lovely side gait. BOB

1st (7,0) MacDonald’s REDCLYST MAXIMUS. Upstanding racy 15month old male. Pleasant head with good chiselling. Clean through neck and shoulders, Deep brisket and good spring of rib. Good expanse of second thing. Moved well to top this class. 2nd McCabe CLONAGEERA THRIFT. Pretty youngster with Good head, clean through neck and shoulders. Good spring of rib. Pleasing turn of stifle. Moved well.
MacDonald’s REDCLYST HEAD FULL OF DREAMS. Very raw baby of only 6months. Pleasing head with good chiselling, clean through neck with good depth of chest, pleasing tailset. Had fun on the move. BP

1st (6,0) Prangle’s HEATHCLARE AMERICAN DOLLAR JW SH CM. Stylish dog, well balanced, substance throughout. Good head planes and gentle eye. Excellent depth with adequate width and depth of chest and sprung rib. Looked exceptional in side profile, he excelled on the move holding topline. Was quite excited to start on the move but his handler knew how to get the best from him and as soon as he settled, he glided around that ring effortlessly – a real treat. BOB 2nd Partridge’s KERRYDOWN ODDS ON. Liked this dog a lot too and was unlucky to meet 1st. well balanced, not quite the head of 1st. strong brisket, great depth of chest. Flowing topline. Good stifles and expanse of second thigh. Another great mover.

1st (9,4) Pike’s REDCLYST THE PIPER. Upstanding 4 year old well muscled Male. Good head, liked the cleaness through neck and shoulders, good depth and spring of rib. Too much stifle for me. Good tailset. Moved out well, pleasing side gait 2nd Russell’s STRATHMEAD HUCKLEBERRY OF SETTESOLI. Lovely male in good coat. Not the cleanness through the neck as 1st but I did prefer his expanse of second thigh. Moved ok.
