I would like to thank the committee of the Basenji Club of Great Britain for the honour of judging the Christmas Open Show. I would also like to thank the exhibitors for their entries and for accepting my decisions in a sporting manner.

1-PD (2,0)

1-Kalnina’s Frederick Fantastic Destiny –My surprise of the day. Very nice R/W male of good size, lightly built with fine bone. Short backed giving a high on leg appearance compared with his length. Excellent head with profuse wrinkle and dark almond shape eyes, with small high set on ears. Well arched neck into well set shoulders. Deep brisket with a spring of rib. Tail tightly curled and set on high. When settled he moved well with a long swinging stride. Very clean fore and aft. BD, BIS & BPIS

2-Casentieri’s Adebanke’s King Cole of Alchez- B/W male. Presents a balanced outline with high on leg appearance. Good head with ample wrinkle and dark eyes. Neck of good length. Shoulders well laid back. Short backed but just needs to strengthen in topline. Moved with a swinging stride. Well handled.

2- JD (1,0)

Stewart’s Kingwanas Vincent Van Boof of Jenbasi (IMP NOR) – Good sized male. Would like slightly shorter in back to give high on leg appearance. Head OK but would like shorter muzzle. Nice dark almond shape eyes with ample wrinkle. Deep brisket. Just needs to spring in rib but this should come with maturity. Moved OK. Well handled.

3-PGD (1,0)

Gostynska’s Bubas Apache –Another good sized male with classic headpiece. Well-chiselled with slight stop. Side lines of skull taper gradually towards mouth, giving a clean-cheeked appearance. Fine and profuse wrinkles with desirable side wrinkle and dark eyes. High on leg appearance. Fine boned. Neck well crested. Short in back with level topline. Deep brisket. Moved well. Pushed hard for higher honours but just not in condition of winner. RBD

4- LD (1,0)

Stewart’s Wazin Bri Master of Jenbasi (IMP SWE)- Brindle male up to size. Presents a high on leg appearance. Head OK. Would prefer smaller, higher set on ears. Strong neck of good length. Short level topline. Deep brisket with ample spring of rib. Would like more length of upper arm. Moved OK.

5-OD (1,1)

10- PB (1,0)

Richardson and Wood’s Mombatongaempress Euginie of Cooperland. Tri female of good size. Pleasing head with ample wrinkle, dark eyes and high set ears. Neck well arched and of good length. Long forelegs with straight fine bone. Pasterns good length and flexible. Deep brisket but needs to spring in rib as she matures. An enthusiastic young lady but once settled had a nice long swinging stride. BB,RBIS, RBPIS

11- JB (2,1)

Stewart’s Kingwanas Viva Las Vegas of Jenbasi (IMP NOR)- Brindle female who on the stack presents a lovely balanced outline with high on leg appearance. Head OK. Would like a shorter muzzle and ears higher set on top of head. Short backed with deep brisket and strong hindquarters. Good high set tail. Has lovely profile action but is just slightly close behind on the move.

12- PGB (3,0)

1- Holloway’s Askaifleet Russki Rose- R/W female. Would like slightly more length of leg to give characteristic high on leg appearance. Good head with profuse wrinkle and small high set on ears. Almond shaped eyes but would prefer them to be darker. Short backed, deep chest with ample spring of rib. Strong and muscular hindquarters with into well let down hocks. Moved well.

2- Casentieri’s Lambada Mysterious Talisman (IMP BLR)- Very close to winner but just preferred stronger topline of 1. Good head with ample wrinkle, dark eye and high set ears. Strong neck of good length. Shoulders will laid back, deep in brisket with spring of rib. Slightly enthusiastic on the move today but when settled had a long swinging stride.

13- LB (1,0)

Holloway’s Aksaifleet I’m Cheetah- R/W female that has a high on leg appearance. Good head with dark, almond shape eyes but would prefer more wrinkle. Well arched neck into well set shoulders. Short in back with desired straight topline. Strong hindquarters. Moved well but not quite the length of stride of best bitch. RBB

14-OB (1,1)

15- Special Bred by Exh B (1,1)

Gostynska’s Bubas Renisha- R/W female with another classic head as to be expected from this kennel. Small ears, high set on top of head. Dark eyes with desired almond shape. Pliant skin with fine bone. Short in back with straight topline. Would like slightly more bend in stifle to give balanced outline. Very clean on move both fore and aft.

16- Special Not Bred by Exh B (2,2)

17- Brace

Stewart- Brindle pair. Moved well in harmony with handler. Both presented a good outline when stacked.
