Open Show 19/5/18

Golden Retrievers

Many thanks to the Committee for the invitation to judge at this lovely show.

Puppy 5/3abs/1wd

1 Archer’s Haydengold Rock Star at Sunandair, lovely 8 mth mid golden boy.  Super bone, with good depth to chest, return of forearm & straight front.  Short coupled, lots to like. BP

Junior 2/1abs

1 Cruttwell’s Ashbyglen Alfresco, stood alone in this class but well deserving of his place.  A beautiful pale boy in good coat who is balanced throughout.  Good shoulder layback and straight front.  Excellent stifle & good topline which he held on the move.

Yearling 4

I was splitting hairs with my top 2 here but just preferred the head of my winner.

1 Scholes’ Goldenhicks Churchill at Rossgilde JW, a larger framed boy who still has to mature.  He has the best of heads, set on a reachy neck which just flows so beautifully into well laid shoulders.  Lovely catlike feet & good stifle.  Tends to fly his tail which detracts from his otherwise super outline, I hope this improves with age. RBOB

2 Cruttwell’s Ashbyglen Alfresco

3 Whitfield’s Amberdella Miracle Dancer

Post Graduate 4/1abs

A lovely class where the places could easily change on a different day.

1 Cruttwell’s Ashbyglen Alfresco

2 Jackson’s Mavistan Nearco at Swanavon, super head & gorgeous expression, dark kind eye.  Good bone, length of neck & turn of stifle.  Another one who has a tendency to fly his tail at times.

3 Gayler’s Carolake Remember Me JW

Limit 3/1abs

1 Scholes’ Rossgilde Sea Lady JW, a beautiful cream bitch in super coat.  She is a very compact girl who is balanced throughout with nothing overdone.  Lovely head, good neck & shoulder layback, excellent bone.  Short coupled with level topline.  Gave her handler a hard time but her class shone through, I loved her!  BOB & thrilled she went on to G1.

2 Collis’ Merimoor Waterbouy at Dorwinion, a 4 year old golden boy with masculine head, dark eye & pigmentation.  Good bone & turn of stifle.  Short in the loin, moved out well holding his level topline.

Open 3/1abs

1 Hammond’s Merrimoor Malarky, a 7 year old, pale bitch with a feminine head & dark eye.  Standing on catlike feet, short coupled & good turn of stifle.  Super movement, holding her topline well.

2 Humphrey’s Abnalls Sebastian, a lovely gentleman of 9 years, who did his owner proud & was thoroughly enjoying his day.  Masculine head & kind eye, good length of neck & shoulder layback.  Well boned and balanced throughout.
