Merioneth Agricultural Society

Merioneth Agricultural Society 22nd August 2018 

 

A pleasure to judge at this friendly, well run show. A lovely day in a beautiful setting, slightly spoiled by an example of poor sportsmanship. I was pleased with the over all quality today.  

Gundogs 

Golden Retrievers 

Puppy (6, 2 abs) 

1 Kirkman’s Tsarmont Star Quality 

The best mover in this class, at 8 months is looking well. Good in head with straight front and well angulated shoulders and balanced in body. She should mature nicely Best Puppy PG 3. 

2 Nelson’s Willowlawn Devon Belle at Cadwst 

Another at 8 months with a good head and dark pigmentation, she is good in front with decent shoulders and good rear angulation. Moved well . 

3 Kirkman’s Tsarmont Lakeside Star 

Junior (5,2) 

1 Griggs’ Mulfield Sea of Dreams 

15 months and plenty to like about him. Well-constructed throughout with a good front and shoulder angulation. He was happy on the move. Should look really well once he fills out.  

2 Cooper Jones’ Bowshella Royal Charger for Asney 

Reserve in Puppy, 10 months is well balanced in body. He has a good length of neck and good turn of stifle.  

3 Hill’s Carolissa Sirius Delight 

Yearling (3,1) 

1 Griggs’ Mulfield Sea of Dreams 

2 Hill’s Carolissa Sirius Delight  

14 months male, broader in head with dark eyes. Well turned stifles give strength to his quarters. Needs to settle to show himself to advantage.  

Post Grad (10,4) 

1 Williams’ Cesarka Pin Up Girl JW 

Liked this two-year-old girl. Very correct through without being overdone. She has a feminine head with good stop and correct ear placement. She is balanced in body with good shoulders and front. She moved well.  

2 Plevin’s Bowshella Razzle Dazzle 

Another one with plenty to like. Good in head with dark eyes and typical expression. Good length of ribs. Well bent stifles. Looked well.  

3 Burrows and French’s Dilworthey Williams Prince 

Open (7,2) 

1 Williams’ Cesarka Harbour Master JW 

Half brother to my previous class winner. At seven is still in really good coat and condition. He is well made through. Correct in front with good layback of shoulder, he has good length and depth to his chest. Well angulated quarters enable true movement. Best of Breed. 

2 Millington’s Mitcharron Buster Keeton 

Larger type but still balanced through. Good length of neck with well laid shoulders. Lovely round feet. Good length of ribs and well-turned stifles. He moved well.

Junior (3,1) 

1 Mantle’s Almanza Ain’t Nobody’s Business At Rhiewvalley (imp) 

Typical 13 month old with good length of muzzle, good rear angulation. Just needs a bit more confidence to show himself to advantage. 

2 Griffiths and Newton’s Caehaidd Call Me Crazy 

Smaller type with lean head and good shoulder placement. Moved well for her young handler.  

Open (6,3) 

1 Blythin’s Castlerock Marksman Avec Julesville 

Mature male in good coat and condition. Good head with strong neck and well laid shoulders. Strong legs and good feet. Balanced in body and showing well. Best of Breed. 

2 Adshead’s Llantrussa Twist of Fate 

Good two-year-old with a lot to like. Good chest and balanced in body. Happy disposition.  

3 Griffiths’ Castlerock Cosmic Hattie

Open (5,2) 

1 Harrison’s Glarus Sun Dance 

Strong but balanced D with plenty of shape in his head. Firm in topline and presented to advantage. He moved well to take Best of Breed. 

2 Moss’ Mossimar Yanky Doodle Dandy 

Good head with dark eyes. Good stop. Well balanced body with good rear angulation. Moved honestly.  

3 Moss’ Mossimar Honeysuckle Rose 

Cocker Spaniel  

It would have been good to have had more than one class here.  

Open (9,2) 

1 Shinkfield and Lester’s Quettadene Touch the Stars 

Super Black presented a typical profile and so good to go over. Correct in head with dark eyes. Straight well boned front leading to well laid shoulders, elbows tucked in nicely. Correct topline with good set on of tail. In lovely coat and condition Best of Breed Group 2 

2 Morris’ RIondel Candyman 

Gorgeous puppy of 10 months. Good head with dark eyes and well-placed ears. Well developed chest for his age. Straight front with good legs and feet. Good rear angulation. Moved well. Pleased to award him the Puppy Group and pleased to see him go on to Reserve Best Puppy in Show.

1 Adshead’s Afonbach Winter is Coming 

Good make and shape. Pleasing head with correct eyes and good ear placement. Correct length of neck, good in front assembly. Well balanced in body for his age. Moved well Best of Breed and Puppy Group 2 

2 Adshead’s Afonbach Dance with Dragons 

Finer through than his brother and not as mature at the moment. Lovely head correct in front. In good body.  

Open (7,5) 

1 Adshead’s Danehaven Vermilion for Afonbach 

Mother to the previous class winners. Pretty head and alert expression. Straight in front, balanced body with correct rear angulation. Moved truly, Lovely colour.  

2 Morse’s Eusanit Red Devil Rocket 

Smaller type with finer head. Well bodied. Showing a lovely temperament both standing and on the move.  

German Short Haired Pointer 

Junior (1) 

1 Fry’s Waldburg Indus 

9 moths b/w Pleasing head with good balance. Strong clean neck and well laid shoulders. Straight in front. Balanced in body. Moved easily. Best of Breed. Best Puppy. 

Open (3,2) 

1 Fry’s Waldburg Solar Eclipse 

Mother to the puppy and similar in many ways. Good in head and also good in front. Moved soundly but preferred the shoulders of the puppy when it came to the challenge.  

Pointer 

Junior (2,1) 

1 Stokes’ Hawkfield Castaspell over Guanabara 

Very neat 17-month-old. Smart head with good stop and correct ear placement. Strong clean muscular neck with well laid shoulders. Good length of rib. Well turned stifles and good tail set. Moved well.  

Post Grad (3,1) 

1 Perkins’ Brent Hothouse Flower 

18 months O/W of quality. Lovely head and expression. Good eye colour. Strong neck with good layback of shoulder. Correct length and depth of chest and firm strong loins giving a balanced outline. Well developed quarters. Moved truly. Best of Breed

1 Perkins’ Ir Sh Ch Kanix Fate of Brent JW ShCM 

Soundly moving 6 year old B/W. Good head with plenty of shape. Good reach of neck leads to straight well boned front. Balanced body with good turn of stifle. Well turned out.  

2 Fleetwood’s Tyremy Southseaspice 

B/W with a good head, well boned straight legs and good feet. Good rear angulation. Unfortunately, not too happy today. 

Field Spaniel 

Open (2) 

1 Moore’s Elgert Sweet Little Lies at Gadhelic 

Feminine and refined head, good ear placement, balanced in body with good turn of stifle and set on of tail. Had the edge on movement here. Looked well.  

 

2 Moore’s Elgert China Girl for Gadhelic 

Typical two-year-old. Nice type with good head and neck, level topline with good rear angulation.   

English Springer Spaniel 

Junior (4,1) 

1 Addoo’s Reulemill Annie Power 

16 months and looking well today. Feminine and balanced head with correct stop. Straight well boned legs with good feet. Good length of rib. Plenty of rear angulation. In good coat condition. Moved well here and took Best of Breed and Group 4. 

2 Crabtree’s Wenark May Blossom at Yarlestre 

Similar in age but not as forward at the moment. Well-shaped head with strong clean neck, balanced body with short couplings. Happy on the move but not as precise as the winner.  

3 Thoms’ Tigerrock Super Ted

1 Bullock and Lewis’ Trixhund Talking Obsession JW ShCM 

Pleasing 4-year-old. Balanced in head with good neck and shoulders. Balanced in profile with good length of ribs. Well turned stifles and good tail set, Moved well  

2 Joyce’s Kingsheath Total Diva at Felltops 

Approaching 2, Stronger built type with a good front and length of body. Moved steadily 

Weimaraner 

Open (3,2) 

1 Thomas’ Gunalt Sugar Plum at Rhydawel 

A shame this one was alone, lovely refined head with typical expression and correct ear placement. Good neck and well laid shoulders. Good overall body length. Well angulated quarters. Moved well. Best of Breed.  

Gundog NSC 

Puppy (2,1) 

1 Hart’s IRWS Ianbro Mystic Quartz Shines at Gilligrae 

11 months with fine head and dark eyes, Straight front legs, good depth of chest for her age, Good rear angulation and tail set. Moved well, Best NSC Puppy, Puppy Group 4. 

Open (5,1, 1w/d) 

1 Gill’s Italian Spinone Teazledown Moonwalker at Jocagill JW ShCM 

Mature male with a lot to like about him. Correct in head with good ear set. Strong neck with well laid shoulders. Plenty of bone. Good depth and width of chest. Well turned stifles. So good to go over and correct on the move. Best NSC and Gundog Group Winner.  

2 Perkins’ Viszla Nevedith Strictly Claudia of Brent 

Lovely through, good head with typical expression. Strong clean neck of good length. Firm in body with good muscular condition and gleaming coat.  

3 Hart’s Gilligrae Swift N Chic 

Gundog Group 

My choice was the Italian Spinone, followed by the Cocker. For group three, Kelly’s English Setter Alolfrana Memphis Rock a young male who has improved immensely since the last time I saw him. Looked the part today. Group four went to the English Springer. 

Puppy Group 

My winner was the blue Cocker who went on to Reserve BPIS. Puppy group two to the NSDTR, followed by the Golden Retriever and the IRWS.
