Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club

Dandie Dinmont Terriers. Southern Dandie Dinmont Club 15.04.2018.

Many thanks to the committee and officers of the Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier club for asking me to judge the special classes at their well run and friendly open show. It was encouraging to see an open show with so many Dandies present and more so that there were a good proportion of younger exhibitors. I was very pleased with my entry. Thank you.

Junior. Henrietta Harris Ze Zihelske Zahrday. Pleasing young pepper bitch. Presents a very typical silhouette. Good head of correct proportions, with super topknot of correct texture. Has correct eye and expression, good maxillary muscling, and well set ears with desired feathering. Good neck into correct shoulder placement and correct front assembly. Pleasing topline and tailset. Moved well. I wouldn't want her any bigger. 2. Reidswire Border Battlecry to Rubegud. Another of the correct type. Good head and expression. Correct front. Well off for bone with good feet. Needs to mature and rib up a little. Moved well both directions. Should do well. 3. Aksiom Eva Captiva. Quality mustard. Good overall proportions. Correct head proportions. To be critical I would like a tighter eye rim. Has a good strong muzzle. Would prefer a fraction more length of the neck but good shoulders and front. Correct topline and tail set. Well-developed hind quarters. Moved well.

Graduate. 1. Great Gatsby Ze Zihelske Zahrday. Mature pepper dog. Lovely make and shape. Good head and expression. Correct front assembly. Good strong muscle. Correct topline. Well off for bone. Correct tail set. Moved well in all directions and with rear drive. Put down very well and sympathetically handled by a young competent handler 2. Yazga Turbulant Indigo. Another nice dandie who presents a pleasing silhouette. Correct Head proportions. Good front although would prefer slightly tighter feet. Correct body shape. Didn't help her hand today but moved well when settled.3. Kirkhalin Mystic Prudence from Reidswire. Typy dandie . Not the head proportions of the first two placed dogs and carrying a little too much weight today. Correct coat and texture. In a good hard condition and well muscled. Moved with drive.

Open. Challenging class with a number of adults of differing type. 1. Cloverwood Yours Truly. Pleasing pepper door of quality. Has a lovely head in expression with correct eye placement and colour. Well set ears with correct feathering. Good length of neck into good shoulders. Correct front assembly. Has a lovely outline and topline although at times does not show this to his advantage. Well-muscled and in a good condition. Correct coat texture and colour. Moves soundly in all directions with Front reach and rear drive. 2. Dandiroyal Sophie. Pepper bitch with typical head and expression. Good size and good overall outline. Would prefer a little more jacket left on over her front. Moved very well all directions. 3. Tollcross Tartan Tavish. Longer cast dog. Typical head and expression. A little stuffy in neck and shoulder but otherwise pleasing body proportions. Excellent bone and feet. Correct coat. Not so keen on moving on the surface today but when he did he moved well.
