THE NORTH OF ENGLAND WEIMARANER SOCIETY

OPEN SHOW 28TH JULY 2018

My thanks to the Officers and Committee of The North of England Weimaraner Society for their judging invitation and giving me the opportunity to judge their Breed Open Show.

Everyone was friendly and received my decisions with respect and sportsmanship.

I enjoyed my judging and noted that there was a prevalence of dogs/bitches carrying a little more substance than they need and that firm muscle definition and tone was not the norm. A Good dog can be a Top dog if in fit fettle!

PUPPY DOG (2)

1st Burgess’ GREYSPIRIT ROCK STAR FROM HANTZBURG Sh CM RL1 a 11-month-old who is well grown and has pleasing bone and body and very much in the transitional stage from puppy to junior. When settled stands well over the ground showing his qualities to advantage. Attractive head which I preferred to 2nd.  Well boned true enough front which needs to tighten but has all the basics in construction and shape with desirable scope in body to mature into a quality adult. Moved with a free striding action in side gait but needs to be more settled in front.

2nd Snaith’s SKILAKI MOVE ON UP TO BIFONDA a 10-month-old youngster who is pleasing in size, bone and body development. Tended to look longish in body and lost his top line from time to time; going through a loose leggy stage. Truer in front than 1st but needing to tighten all through and tended to look less mature than 1st. Moved in typical puppy style but had encouraging front action.

JUNIOR DOG (3)

1st Beagrie’s GUNALT AUDIO FROM FELDHUND a sturdy 17-month-old who has a pleasing head, shape and expression, head set on good length neck. True, well boned front with moderate angulations front and rear. Pleasing body cover, ribbing and loin and well developed, stable hindquarters which edged him over 2nd. He has a youthful look possessing the sound basis to strengthen, fill-out and mature into his prime. Enthusiastic mover with pleasing side gait but needs to be more settled in both front and rear action.

2nd Brierly & Needham’s GRAUSTURM HAIRY POTTER (IMP AUS) a substantial 12 months old LH male who has a strong boned, true front and pleasing forequarters and lay-back of shoulder which is better than 3rd. Strong, masculine head, strong neck and body, which has depth and adequate spring. Pleasing overall length in body and loin although needing to develop and strengthen in top-line and hindquarters. Moved with plenty of purpose, better than 3rd but needs to steady and settle a bit more to give of his best.

3rd Issit’s KUANTAN QUATTRO WITH FORGUN

NOVICE DOG (2)

1st Snaith’s SKILAKI MOVE ON UP TO BIFONDA as previous comments.

True front of proportional width and well filled in, stands on sound legs and pleasing pastern which scored over 3rd. good firm substance of body but, for me, tended to look longer in body than 1st especially over the loin.
