Firstly thank you to the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at your lovely show, fantastic hospitality and friendly atmosphere. Secondly thank you to the exhibitors who entrusted my judgement with their lovely dogs.


Irish Setters. P (4,1) – 1. Pike’s Redclyst Boris. Young Dog of good stature with a very good head shape, good eye and ear set, giving an overall kind expression, good neck into gentle sloping topline finishing at good tail set. Good front, plenty of rib for one so young, neat couplings and adequate rear with a well muscled first thigh. Moved really well over uneven strange surface, overall condition was good. BP and PG2 . 2. MacDonald’s Redclyst Maximus. Very close in conformation to 1st with sound front and good rib, nice expression with a kind eye, topline to tail set good, rear angulation and muscle tone as good as 1st, moved a little more erratic than 1st but that’s youngsters for you.  3. Hadfield’s Staratlanta Get a Wiggle on to Marzanne. J (4) – 1. Randle’s Forfarain’s Hidden Secret with Rionore. Sound dog with a good outline on the stack, strong straight front with plenty of rib giving plenty of room for expanding his lungs, nice eye and ear set, sound slightly arched neck leading into good topline, good condition to coat, moved with well with strong rear action. 2. Hall’s Glennara Cilleigne Dervla JW. A female with a lovely gentle expression, good to type head characteristics, good front, neat feet, gentle topline to correct tail set, lovely overall condition, glided along on the move showing off her outline. 3. Coleman’s Devacott Rose Creek. G (7, 2) – 1. Roberts’ Polmennor Spinning Moons. Sweet young bitch with everything in proportion, lovely out line, sweetest of expressions, neat front, pleasing topline to good tail set, plenty of good rib and tidy couplings, nice tone to first and second thigh, adequate angulation to the rear making her movement easy and with little effort, lovely colour and in very good condition.  2. As 1st in Junior. 3. Hadfield’s  Marzanne’s China in your Hand. L (4, 1) – 1. Gardiner’s Harreds Harlie of Blaysdell. Lovely head shape with a kind expression, good overall outline on the stack, good angulation at front leading onto plenty of sound rib and fine couplings, above a gently sloping top line to correct tail set gave the profiled outline which I liked. Neat feet and coat in good condition moved freely and with ease and handled really well. RBOB. 2. Pym’s  Thendara the Watchmaker. Good first impression, plenty of neat well maintained coat, expression-full eyes, and correct ear set on nicely shaped head, neat neck to topline, front angulation good, good spring of rib for plenty of expansion, topline along to tail set was good, rear angulation of good proportion. Handled well on the move which was even and balanced. 3. Pike’s Redclyst the Piper. OD (4, 3) – 1. MacDonald’s Redclyst Kearney. Nice dog of good proportions, good head typical of breed type, subtle arching to neat neck into nice shoulder lay smooth gently sloping topline to correct tail set, good front well boned fore legs making for a strong frontage supporting plenty of well sprung rib, ample rear angulation nicely muscled thighs making movement easy and balanced, coat in good condition and handled well. OB (3, 2) – 1. Pike’s Redclyst Aura. Lovely bitch with a knock out first impression, kind expression on a well defined head, good eye and correct ear set, neat neck to well laid shoulder into first-rate topline finishing in correct tail set, neat frontage giving support to a good expanse of rib, lovely short couplings flowing into a strong first thigh on well angulated rear. Lovely deep colouring and condition to coat, moved with ease and with purpose. BOB.

Flatcoated Retrievers, O (7, 3) – 1. Cooves Draketor Sea Shanty SHcM. Lovely head nice and broad, excellent outline, short coupled with rich dark coat, not over exaggerated in front and rear angulations, good quality in bone, chest deep and flat, muscled well in rear which made movement look easy, straight and true. BOB. 2. Thurgood’s Thurwhitt Madame Cholet. Again a lovely outline and to type head with no exaggerations, good shoulder into topline, firm front and deep chest, good rear with nicely muscled 1st and 2nd  thigh, nice tail set to finish off topline, coat in a good condition, moved well free from any deviance RBOB.

BPIB was Hayman’s Tikkidui Showmans Dream. A lovely pup full of life, coat in a good condition, nice head still developing full of promise, nice bone to both front and rear, nothing over exaggerated , a good deep chest, and the waggiest of tails, moved well.
