Southern Irish Terrier Society

SPECIAL STAKES CLASSES

Thank you to the society for inviting me to judge your Special Stakes Classes, I felt very honoured and privileged. I have had a particular interest in Irish Terriers ever since I passed your judges’ assessment back on 7th August 2010. I fell in love with your breed then and found the Irish Terrier owners very helpful and friendly. I have been a member of your club ever since and it was nice to attend your Annual General Meeting for the first time. I also passed the breed assessment again in the autumn, giving me knowledge and confidence to judge your lovely breed.

CLASS 16 – FOR OWNER OR DOG NOT HAVING WON A RCC/CC (5) 1. Redman’s Holbam Celtic Little Minx. Very promising puppy bitch, who should have a great future. Superb outline and well balance. Won her place on wonderful ear carriage and head. Nice straight front legs and excellent pasterns. Strong, straight back. Good tail set, carried correctly. Excellent movement. Harsh coat coming through. 2. Ruffles & Williamson’s Holbam Celtic Erin. Sister to the above with much the same attributes. At present, her ear carriage detracts from the overall picture. I hope as she gets older they will settle and improve. 3. Blair’s Montcoffer Truly Love.

CLASS 17 – FOR DOGS NOT HAVING WON A RCC.CC (3) 1. Simons’ Saredon Red Berry. Nice mature dog, for his age, with good outline, balance and overall presence. Masculine head with lovely dark eye and keen expression. Super ears, set high on the head, falling forwards to the outer corner of the eyes. I would prefer them a little closer together for perfection. Straight front, with good lay of shoulder. Good depth, nicely boned, firm and strong topline, well set on tail. Shown in lovely harsh, wiry coat and condition. Moved very well with strong rear drive. 2. Nevill’s Norakim An Storr at Rosemonelle. Only a baby and very immature at only six months old. Should have great prospects. Correct head and ear carriage. Bodying nicely. Moved well. Good coat texture. Delightful temperament and a good showman. 3. Shaw’s Finley.

CLASS 18 – OPEN TO ALL (6) 1. Bamsey’s Ch. Holbam Pearly Star ShCM. Fell in love with her as soon as I saw her and was not disappointed. Not surprised she was a champion and worthy of it. Thank you for exhibiting her for me to judge. Good head and eye, nice ear set with good neck and shoulder. Well bodied. Moved well. 2. Ruffles’ Holbam Celtic Whisper at Ruffmar JW ShCM. Mother of the top three puppies, which speaks for itself. She is of great quality, which she has passed on to her pups. She has her figure back, now needs to grow her furnishings and firm up again in topline. Super head and expression. Produces a super outline. When she moves she really comes into her own. Due to her situation, she just lacked the finish and presence of the champion. But very nice. 3. Bannister’s Monty. All had good mouths and feet.
