BOSTON TERRIER

16th September 2018.

Judge: Mr. C. Mewse (KRIMSHAR)

I’d like to thank Worthing for inviting me to judge this breed which I adore & the exhibitors for letting me go over there Boston’s. Also a big thankyou to Clive my steward for making this judging appointment run smoothly.

Puppy: (2) 1 Mr S.Gill, SHAWMUT I AM LADY LIBERTY AT SIMBERFOUR. Very much a baby still, small in stature but correct from any angle. Nice feminine head, square skull & muzzle which has good depth. Ears still soft on tips but should firm up as she matures, length of neck good which was neatly set into shoulders, her front was straight with the correct amount of muscle all round for a youngster. Good depth & shape of rib. Movement was ok all be it slightly close on the rear, markings were good. BP. RBOB & PG3 Well done, nice seeing her show off in the bigger group ring which she done very nicely.

2 Mr O.Cox, BOSTON TIME LIGHT. At just under 8 months this was a nice bitch, head was square with nice dark eyes, for me just not as feminine as 1st. She had good length of neck, front was good. Top line was held well at stack & on the move; markings were not her strong point which detracted slightly the overall picture which is a shame because underneath it all she is a nice Boston.

Post Graduate: (0)

Open: (4,1a) 1 Mrs V. Avent, RIDGEWAY REVELATION AT SUENO SHCM. When I look at this lovely breed of ours I look for balance which this bitch has, she has a lovely mahogany brindle coat. Beautiful feminine square head, correct eye colour for this mahogany brindle coat, ears placed well & used to advantage, nice angle to the neck & well placed into shoulders. Front was good with correct angle on short strong pasterns, ribs deep & well sprung, very nice muscled loin, rump curving slightly with the correct set on of tail. I have seen her move better but still did enough for top honours. BOB

2 Mrs V. Kemeny, LOTSMOOR BELUGA. At over 7 years this bitch still knows how to pull out the stops & perform for her owner, she was nicely marked, square head with good length of muzzle.(This is something that we need to keep an eye on because some Boston’s are getting very short in muzzle length) Vey good muscle throughout & good angles front & rear. Didn’t quite have the overall picture that 1st had & gave off, although still a nice Boston.
