British Collie Club

COLLIE (Smooth)

Firstly, would like to thank the Committee of British Collie Club for my invitation and not forgetting the Exhibitors, who gave a lovely entry of 21 dogs with only 3 absent on the day. A fabulous atmosphere and hospitality at this show. Athough I did find a few with rounder eyes instead of almond shape and dogs tending to be of varying build and substance, overall I was very pleased with my main winners on the day.

Veteran Dog/Bitch (3/0)

1st Miss M Benton’s CH. Alopex Marionette of Oakestelle – Very fit 9 year old bitch of excellent blue merle colour, although slightly finer than some others but still in proportion, she has a fabulous head with good dentition and underjaw for her age, totally correct head planes when viewed from the side she has perfect parallel planes with correctly positioned stop and perfectly set and tipped ears, an excellent neck with lovely arch, nice front with really good ribbing and good length of body with good croup giving her flowing lines, good bend of stifle and still powers around the ring, totally attentive to her handler, a lovely combination to see, Best Veteran in Breed and on agreement with co-judge, Best Veteran in Show.

2nd Mrs K & Mr M Russell’s Manordeifi Satin Doll of Koczkodan – Tri colour bitch of 8 years, nice head, eye and expression with well set correct ears, nice length of neck with good front assembly, length of back and rear angulation, moved well but outmoved on the day by 1.

3rd Miss D Moores’ Manordeifi Silver Sparkle.

Post Graduate Dog (3/0)

1st Miss A French’s Foxearth Fly Forward – A masculine and very handsome rich sable dog just over 19 months old, excellent dentition and underjaw set in a well moulded foreface with a clean head of good proportion with a lovely almond shape expressive eye, well placed stop and ears, although a tad reluctant to use his ears today but did enough that was necessary. Lovely length of neck set in good shoulders, decent enough chest for his age with good depth, nice length of back and spring of rib, lovely bend of stifle, moved true in his class and in challenge(s) for Best Dog and Best of Breed with lovely forward reach and drive. In Challenge for Best in Show, felt he was not so interested any longer but still I preferred his head and forward reach on the move to the Rough Collie, so decision was given to the Referee who awarded him Reserve Best in Show.

2nd Ms E Cowling & D Bell’s Koczkodan Nostromo – 22 month old tri colour dog of substance with the blackest of jackets, nice head but slightly deeper in back skull than one, good length of neck, good depth of chest but needs to fill slightly more in forechest, nice length to body and good length of tail, moved well but preferred the movement of 1 today.

3rd Miss D Moores’ Manordeifi Bow Regard.

Open Dog (1/0)

1st Mr & Mrs B Trundley’s Blamorder Back to the Future – Clear blue merle upstanding dog approaching 5 years old who has a decent head of good planes with nicely rounded muzzle, well placed ears which are used all the time to his advantage, balanced overall shape with good depth and enough fill of chest, moved well with drive and pleased to award Reserve Best Dog.

Puppy Bitch (1/0)

Miss M Benton’s Oakestelle Artemis – Very pretty, slightly finer, and very attentive to handler feminine blue merle bitch of correct colour, lovely head with well rounded foreface and good flat backskull, correct placed stop and kind expressive eye, excellent head planes, well set and tipped ears, lovely length of neck, well placed shoulders and front angulation, good depth of chest, nicely sprung ribs and good length of back. Really well balanced giving her the ability to float round the ring with ease, although she stood alone in her class she is very worthy and was more than happy to award her Best Puppy Bitch, Best Puppy in Breed and on decision with co-judge, Reserve Best Puppy in Show.

Junior Bitch (1/1)

Post Graduate Bitch (7/2 – 1 moved to Open Bitch)

1st Mrs K & Mr R Russell’s Breckamore Bittersweet for Koczkodan – Tri colour bitch of 2 and half years, has a lovely head and good expressive eye, well placed and used correct ears, good neck set in well placed shoulders with a decent chest and spring of rib, nice length, good loin and croup, lovely bend of stifle, moved extremely well winning her the class and Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd Mr & Mrs B Trundley’s Juniperwood My Dream, good head planes but would prefer more fill of foreface on this 20 month old bitch but she has plenty of time to mature, has a lovely length of neck with an excellent depth and fill of chest, lovely length to her and well constructed, moved really well.

3rd Mrs P Meacham’s Blamorder Curlywurly Girly at Zellamere.

Open Bitch (5/0 plus 1 transferred from Post Graduate Bitch)

1st Miss D Moores’ Tomalca Buttons’n’Bows at Manordeifi – really like this very pretty 6 year old rich sable bitch, she has a very nice head with a lovely eye shape and so expressive, would prefer slightly more underjaw, her arch of neck is second to none and imprinted in my minds eye, her lovely neck settles into well placed shoulders, she has a lovely chest with good ribbing, loin and croup, she has lovely flowing lines with excellent bend of stifle and moved with drive and reach. Was more than happy to award her this class along with Best Bitch and after much deliberation as she pushed so hard for top honours, Reserve Best of Breed

2nd Miss M Benton’s Oakestelle Venus de Milo – Correct colour blue merle of almost 5 years, finer build overall, another from this kennel schooled to perfection, using her well placed correct ears non stop, she has lovely spring of rib, good front and rear angulation, good length and excellent bend of stifle, just moved slightly wide going away from me today.

3rd Mr & Mrs B Trundley’s Sturtmoor Klarrisants Kiss at Juniperwood
