The Southern Newfoundland Club Open Show 5th May 2018

Males – Caroline Friend-Rees (Amical)

Many thanks to the Officers, Committee and exhibitors for the very warm welcome and friendly atmosphere throughout the day. The show was very well run and supported. With my Co-Judge Marina Scott we agreed on all major awards. The quality was very good but there was quiet a variety. Thank you also for my lovely gift as well as The Stunning engraved glass tankard which was meant for my late husband, Anthony Rees, who due to ill heath could not carry out his judging appointment for you back in 2015.

Puppy Dog

1. Mr & Mrs C Sayle Gunners Newf Above’N’Beyind to Infinity Bear

Impressive young male. Strong bone and substance. Good broad head with dark eyes of good shape and short square muzzle. Level broad topline, well angulated throughout and moving soundly. Pleased to see him go Best Puppy in Show

2. Mrs A P Springthorpe, Millthorpe Mr Rochester

Smart puppy with correct broad head, dark eyes and well set ears. Straight front with well laid shoulders and level topline. Good croup and strong well muscled hindquarters. Large well shaped feet.

3. Mr TJH & Mrs D Richards Sheridel Undercover

Junior Dog

1. Mr TJH & Mrs D Richards Sheridel Undercover

Quality youngster who moved better in this class than the previous class. Lovely dark well shaped eyes, Strong square muzzle and broad skull.Well made with good anglation and level topline. Just totally balanced throughout.

2. Mrs L & Mr T Chapman, Merrybear Jenson

Planty of bone and substance with good neck and front assembly. Level topline and large well shaped feet. Prefered head and movement of the winner.

Graduate Dog

1. Mr RC Burton, Vodahond Against All Odds

Lovely balanced male with dark eyes of good shape and set.Strong short muzzle and lovely expression. Good bone and substance with level topline and well built hindquarters. Moving well up and back with good reach and drive on his profile movement

2. Mrs Z & Mr A Pascoe & Courage, Camnoire Charge

Strong white and Black with lovely dark eyes, Well muscled forequarters with deep chest down to elbow and large well shaped feet. Could of done with a little less black as it makes him look a little long.

Post Graduate Dog

1. Mrs AP Springthorpe, Merrybear Giovanewhiz Millthorpe

Quality balanced male with good bone and substance. Broad head with short square muzzle. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, deep chest and level topline. Well built strong hindquarters and large well shaped feet. Excellent movement showing plenty of reach and drive . A pleasure to award him Reserve Best Dog and Best Black Dog.

2. Mrs EM Dickson, Zentaur Der Kapitan Wisperedomen JW

Well boned male with good masculine head and lovely dark eyes. Broad deep chest down to close fitting elbows but could of had more lay back of shoulder. Level topline and strong hindquarters.

Limit Dog

1. Mr RC Burton , Merrybear Freddie Mercury

Lovely broad head with dark well shaped eyes and strong square muzzle. Strong neck into correct shoulders and level topline. Well built hindquarters. Moving soundly and plenty of reach and drive.

2. Mr R & Mrs SE Land. Just For You Du Domaine De Flambeau (Imp Fra)

Well boned, mature male with broad clean skull. Strong neck, good front assemble and level topline. Lovely free easy movement.

Open Dog

1. Mr IL & Mrs RE Hutchinson. Wuzibears Miami

Strong masculine male with lovely broad head and dark eyes. Very Type. Well made with correct anglation and level topline. Strong bone, well muscled throughout and moving with free easy movement.

2. Mr & Mrs C Sayle. Ch Baranova Top Gallant

Another quality male shown in excellent condition. Strong masculine head with short square muzzle and good eyes. Neck of good length with well laid shoulders and level topline. Moving soundly with good ground covering movement.

Special Open Brown Dog

1. Miss McPhail. Spirebear Golden Barley

Loved this brown for his good honest construction. Very good type with strong masculine broad head, square muzzle and eyes of good shape. Strong neck into well laid shoulders, level topline and strong hindquartes. Moving so well I could not deny his Best Dog .

Special Open White & Black Dog

1. Mr&Mrs WJ Ms S & Mr D Lloyd, Baxter&Morris. Carlos Cancrimo ShCM (Imp Pol)

Very smart white and black with a lovely outline showing excellent anglation and balance. Deep chest down to close fitting elbows, straight front and correct layback of shoulder. Level topline and strong hindquarters. Well muscled throughout and moving with lovely free effortless movement. I would just like a little move of him throughout.
