Tay Valley Gundog Association

Thank you to the Officers and Committee of Tay Valley Gundog for this invitation to judge. I had a wonderful day with hospitality second to none. Thanks to my stewards Helen and Hannah who kept my ring running very efficiently and to all exhibitors who entered their dogs.


Irish Setters

Junior (4)

1st Richardson’s Brabrook True Violet for Montgreenam. 13 months. Excellent overall balance. Head well chiselled and soft expression. Clean neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Correct slightly sloping topline. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Low hocks. Good bone and feet. Moved well fore and aft and in profile

2nd Davie’s Lochfrae Nina Simone. 17 months. Good overall balance. Excellent head with well defined occiput. Soft expression. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Deep ribcage. Well ribbed back. Correct topline and tailset. Well made hindquarters. Not quite the rear movement of the winner today

3rd Green’s Braidmount Dreamed A Dream for Glencarron.


Graduate (2)

1st Lochfrae Nina Simone - 2nd in Junior

2nd Tupper & Rose - Staratlanta’s Shankly’s Fire. 4th in Junior. Updatanding dog. Good head with correct chiselling and well defined occiput. Excellent forehand construction. Correct topline. Well made hindquarters with strong hocks. Movement a little erratic today.


Limit (2)

1st Tupper & Rose - Staraltanta Elliott ShCM. 5 year old upstanding dog. Masculine head but not coarse. Clean neck. Excels in forehand construction. Deep chest. Correct topline. Well ribbed back. Strong well muscled hindquarters. Excellent bone and feet. Moved with drive. Accurate both fore and aft and good in profile BOB

2nd Murchison’s Password Paperback Writer. Good overall balance. Pleasing head. I would like a little more chiselling. Clean neck leading to well laid shoulder. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Lacked the driving movement of the winner today.

1st Normansell’s Latin Lover Rewind For Larrenie (imp) 14 months. Well balanced all through. Good head with well defined eyebrows and chiselling beneath the eyes. Clean neck. Excellent lay of shoulder. Depp chest. Correct topline. Well ribbed back. Well made hindquarters. Could have a little more width of second thigh. Moved well with drive

Open (4, 2)

1st Lawton’s Wandsfell Call The Shots For Oaklaw. 2 year old. Well balanced. Good head and expression. Defined eyebrows and well chiselled beneath eyes. Clean neck to good lay of shoulder. Chest still needs to develop further. Well ribbed back. Excellent hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Accurate movement fore and aft and in profile BOB

2nd Johnson’s Daraquist Billy Bong. 6 year old male. Well balanced. Not quite the work in head as winner. Clean neck. Excellent forehand construction. Deep chest well ribbed back. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Not as tidy on the move as the winner.

Graduate (5, 1)

1st Tillet’s Fieldtalk Lady In Red (imp Deu). Stunning 10 month puppy. Excellent overall balance. Super head of correct proportions, dark eye, well defined stop and clean cheeks. Long lean slightly arched neck leading to excellent lay of shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Level topline with flat croup. Well made hindquarters with long stifles and well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. In good coat and condition. On the move she excelled - accurate both fore and aft and with a long ground covering gait when viewed in profile. BOB and delighted to see her win Reserve Best In Show.

2nd Miller’s Rhum Night Legend. 4 year old. Masculine. Well balanced. Good head with deep stop. Could have more length of neck. Well laid shoulder with corresponding length of upper arm. Deep chest. Level topline. Flat croup. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well – but not quite the accuracy of winner

3rd Bennett’s Capledrae Spirit With A Dash

1st Miller’s Brookes Shadow Mover. 6 years upstanding male. Ex overall balance. Good head with correct breadth of skull and well defined stop. Good length of neck. Could have a fraction more angulation in forequarters. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Level topline with flat croup. Well muscled hindquarters with long stifles and good width of second thigh. Moved well. Excellent bone and feet

2nd Bennett’s Bryerdale Promise to Capledrae. 3 year old bitch. Not at her most settled. Good head and soft expression. Long lean correctly arched neck. Well laid shoulder. Tending to hunch her topline. Well made hindquarters. Never really got into her stride on the move. Excellent bone and feet. In good coat and condition.


Golden Retrievers

Junior Dog (7, 4)

1st Warden’s Nobleman Take The High Road to Glentochty. 11 months. Good overall balance. Typical head well chiselled beneath eyes. Soft expression. Well laid shoulder and corresponding return of upper arm. Good depth chest and spring of rib. Fractionally longer cast than ideal. Level topline. Well made hindquarters with well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well. In good coat and condition

2nd Cullen’s Rigerin Barnyard Dawg at Auchinbreck. 11 months. Not quite the outline I was looking for and needs to grow into himself as his front end is further on than the rear. Pleasing head. Excellent forehand construction. Slightly sloping in topline. Good bone and feet. Moved soundly.


Post Grad Dog (6, 1)

1st Hunter’s Lamancha Keepsake. 2 year old. Good outline. Balanced head with soft expression and well chiselled beneath the eyes. Clean neck leading to good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Level topline and correct tail set. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh and well let down hocks. Moved with drive.

2nd MacShane’s Rigerin Gonae Do Dae That. Well balanced. Slightly heavier all through than the winner. Pleasing head with dark eye and kind expression. Well made forequarters. Correctly sprung ribcage with short loin. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Just moved a little close behind.

3rd Finnie’s Thistleyhill Country Chiel


Limit dog (3, 1)

1st Younie’s Largymore Live To Love You ShCM. Excellent overall balance. Good head and expression. Well chiselled beneath the eyes. Clean neck leading to excellent forehand construction. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Short loin. Excellent hindquarters. Low, square hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Moved accurately fore and aft and on a long even stride when viewed in profile. Best dog and BOB

2nd Gray’s Moloko Cookie Monster at Knockothie. Larger all through than the winner. Pleasing head with soft expression. Little heavy over the shoulder. Good length of upper arm. Good spring of rib. Slightly longer cast than the winner. I would like little more moderation in rear angulation. Moved soundly. Ex bone and feet

Open Dog (6, 1)

1st Greig’s Nedlezah Take A Chance On Me at Crangarry JW. Good overall balance. True head with good chiselling. Could have a little more length of neck. Well laid shoulder. Deep chest. Well ribbed back to short loin. Level topline. Well made hindquarters. Good bone and feet. Moved well.

2nd. McDonald’s Lamancha Just Meant To Be JW ShCM. Excellent head and expression. Clean neck into well laid shoulder and return of upper arm. Deep chest. Would like more length of rib and less length in loin. Level topline. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh and well let down hocks. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well.

Junior bitch (4, 3)

1st Williamson’s Sandti Hits The Sweet Spot JW. 17 months. Excellent overall balance. Feminine head with good chiselling beneath the eyes. Correct length of neck into well laid shoulder and corresponding length of upper arm. Deep chest. Well ribbed back to short loin. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh and low hocks. Ex bone and feel. Moved well. In super coat and condition. Best bitch.

Post Grad bitch (5, 3)

1st Gray’s Knockothie Goody Two Shoes. Good overall balance. Excellent head well chiselled beneath the eyes. Scores in forehand construction. Deep chest. Well ribbed back. Strong well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Excellent bone and feet. Moved well – just tended to fly her tail a little

2nd Laidlaw-Good & Blyth’s Rigerin Spanish Dreams at Fhairmhor. Good overall balance. Pleasing head with soft expression. Not quite forehand construction of winner. Well ribbed back. Level topline. Short loin. Well made hindquarters with good width of second thigh. Good bone and feet. Moved freely

Limit Bitch (1)

1st MacShane’s Rigerin Miss Moneypenny. 5 year old bitch. Good overall balance. Head well chiselled beneath the eyes. Clean neck leading to good lay of shoulder. Dipping a bit behind the withers. Well ribbed back. Short loin. Well made hindquarters. Would like a little more length of leg. Good bone and feet. Moved freely.
