Basset Griffon Vandeen (Grand)

A small entry but quality.

Open (2,0)

1st Makey’s Ch Garside Good Gracious

Lovely well balanced bitch, nothing exaggerated about her, presented a picture of elegance on the stack. Beautiful feminine head with a soft expression, lovely long fine well folded ears and dark eye. Super straight front leading on to a well made front assembly, stands on good legs and neat feet. Strong neck, level top line, medium length back. Strong rear quarters with a moderate bend of stifle which she used well on the move to give her free flowing movement. Delighted to award her Best of Breed.

2nd Makey’s Garside Good Lord JW ShCM

What a fabulous dark sable in superb coat. Lovely dark eye in good masculine head, well set fine curled leathers. Beautiful overall balance, good forechest and ribbing, deep chest, nice tight elbows. Strong well muscled rear quarters. Held level his topline on the move and used correct front and rear angles to move freely with drive and extending well in front. I was not surprised to hear afterwards that he recently gained his title.

Puppy (2,0)

1st Bartley’s Erylan Zeus Roi Des Dieux

Well grown youngster, lovely outline, masculine head with soft expressive eye, body well put together, strong rear end, very good bone and feet, excellent coat and really nicely presented, very sound on the move, well handled Best Puppy and Reserve Best of Breed.

2nd Salmon’s Tangaer Enchante at Scarscot

As the first was forward, this one was a real baby. I thought he had a pleasing in head with a gentle eye. Good overall construction and well put together but it is there more to come. Good coat, his movement was a little erratic and he needs to tighten in elbow. Clearly he was having a good time.

Postgraduate (4,0)

1st Bartley’s Erylan Loki Maitre Du Mal

Pleasing shape, outline and proportions, appealing head, with a good eye and masculine expression. Strong through the neck into a decent front assembly, just a tad short in upper arm. Well ribbed up with a firm topline. Quarters well made with stifles well bent. Active and stylish mover which gave him this class.

2nd Salmon’s Scarscot Bombay Sapphire

Two sibling were in competition for this place, both had different positive attributes which made a challenging decision. Bombay Sapphire won the place on outline and movement where she had the better more fluid action. Still young, just out of junior so still developing, head pleasing but needs to finish. Front good, shoulders ok with a decent angle. Body developing well, ribs springing as they should and quarters developing nicely.

3rd Bamforth’s Scarscot in full Blook at Helensfield

Open (3,1)

1st Bamford’s Tangaer Amour

Super type and balance, feminine in head with soft expressive eyes, good fine ears. Clean reach of neck and well placed shoulders. Good front and bone, nice tight feet, depth to chest and well ribbed with short muscular loin. Firm topline, good tail and set, good width of thigh and turn of stifle. I thought she had a super coat on her. Moved with reach and drive, which gave her the top spot with a bit to spare. Pleased to award her Best of Breed.

2nd Bamforth’s Debucher Viva at Helenfield

Good typy bitch, head more refined than that of the winner, lovely eye and colour which gave her a pleasing expression. Strong through the neck in to a decent front assembly, shoulders could be a little more laid back. Straight legs and good feet. Decent length of body and quarters on her.
