MANSFIELD & DCS OPEN SHOW

01/04/2018

Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Afghan Hounds and BGV(Grand);

Many thanks to the officers and committee for their invitation to judge at their open show and to my able steward Michele. Please exhibitors, if you have an issue with a steward, bring it to their attention quietly and with respect. Without these hard working people, the show would NOT go ahead.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Puppy (3 – 1)

1st & BOB & BP Doughtys Maanhaar Primo-Creatus Henrietta For Rubiltra

I found this 9 month old strong, but feminine bitch to be delightful! Quality right through. Pretty head with flat skull, strong underjaw. Long, strong neck set into clean shoulders. Excellent ridge. Well spring ribcage and correct depth to her chest. Strong loin. Well angulated rear quarters. Moved effortlessly and with soundness coming and going. Couldn’t be denied her BOB.

2nd Parsons Priorpark Pipsqueak

This baby was a shade longer cast through the loin and rather immature. Attractive head, good spring of rib. Straight front. Nice feet. Needs a little more practice on the move.

Rhodesian Ridgeback Junior (3 – 0)

1st Doughtys Maanhaar Primo-Creatus Henrietta For Rubiltra

As before

2nd Barnards Carlincox First Encounter

Very masculine male up to size. Strong neck, let into well laid shoulders. Straight front with good pasterns. Well sprung ribcage. Moved freely and was sound on the up and back.

3rd Parsons Priorpark Pipsicle

Rhodesian Ridgeback Post Graduate (4 – 1)

1st & Res BOB Mannings Fiadma Mrs Clause Myekundo

This bitch was feminine, balanced throughout and sound. Correct earset, head and expression. Strong underjaw. Correct angulation front and rear and movement was sound and easy.

2nd Zhaos Vkloofs Bongani Jin (JW)

This girl was well made throughout with correct conformation, and she could change places with above on another day. However, her love of groceries affected both her outline and her movement.

3rd Barnards Carlincox First Encounter

Rhodesian Ridgeback Open (5 – 1)

1st Murphy & Barnes Diamondridge De-Niro (JW ShCM)

Strong male with good head and well set ears. Long neck let into well laid shoulders. Straight front. Excellent topline. Moved well.

2nd Mannings Fiadma Jorge Kahawia

This male was smaller and more compact than the winner. I preferred his expression but the winner just had the edge overall.

Basset Griffon Vendeen (Grand) Open (2 – 0)

1st & BOB Makeys Gairside Goodness Gracious

I confess I delighted in watching these two hounds. Both were typical, happy and outgoing members of their breed. She was feminine, he a typical male. Super heads and expressions on both of them. Conformation was clean and well angulated front and rear, they were both balanced and they both moved with freedom and drive. I loved them both but for me the bitch just had the edge on her brother and she couldn’t be denied!

2nd & Res BOB Makeys Gairside Good Lord (JW ShCM)

See above.
