STAFFORD & DCS OPEN SHOW

29 September 2018

Judges Report

Dachshunds, AVNSC, Special Hound Veteran, Hound Group.

Sadly there had been a serious traffic accident on the motorway close to the venue, and this may have reflected in the absence of those exhibitors who were delayed.

There were a few dogs who were lacking muscle and rather overweight and this affected both their movement and my decisions. Hounds are athletes and should never be allowed to be so obese that they are negatively affected by their excess weight.

DACHSHUND (Long Haired)

Junior Dog or Bitch (1) Entry

1st Wedge’s Peverleigh Autumnal Louis at Dolans

Red male with quite a nice shape to him. Correct length. Well set ears. Strong neck. Excellent topline. Well angulated fore and aft and moved soundly. Would have preferred a little more animation on the move.

Post-Grad Dog or Bitch (1) Entry

1st & BOB Wedge’s Faulksfollie Miss Minaver at Dolans

This lovely red girl was out of coat at the moment, but that simply showed off her lovely shape. Well angulated throughout with very attractive head and super eye shape. Good feet. Moved very sound and with drive from behind and good front extension. Pleased to award her BOB.

Open Dog or Bitch (0) Entries

DACHSHUND (Min Long Haired)

Puppy Dog or Bitch (1) Entries

1st & BPIB Palin’s Sanmik Chocolat Princess

As her name describes, this chocolate girl was quite well made all though. Good angulation front and rear. Excellent topline. Well ribbed back. She moved soundly when she was steady, but she does need to settle on the move. She has time on her side.

Junior Dog or Bitch (1 Entry 1 Abs)

Post-Grad Dog or Bitch (1 Entry 1 Abs)

Open Dog or Bitch (3 Entries 2 Abs)

1st & BOB Palin’s Sanmik T’Pol

Shaded red who was all girl. Well balanced shape. Pretty feminine head. Good front and feet. Good ribbing and excellent loin. Correct topline. She moved soundly and with good reach in front.

DACHSHUND (Smooth Haired)

Junior Dog or Bitch (0) Entries

Post-Grad Dog or Bitch (2 Entries 1 Abs)

1st Hinwood’s Longmel Special Truffle

Red bitch with a lovely head and expression. Well angulated through the shoulder and upper arm. Good spring of rib. Correct length. Excellent topline. Moved well, both in front and in profile.

Open Dog or Bitch (1) Entry

1st & BOB Kerry’s Kireton Beau Diddley

Black and tan male who was masculine without being coarse or heavy. Lovely front angulation with good forechest. Carried his topline well. Excellent bone. Correct underline. I really liked his qualities.

DACHSHUND (Min Smooth Haired)

Puppy Dog or Bitch (3) Entries

1st & BPIB Palin’s Judzia Dax NAF TAF

Shaded red girl with lots of quality and promise at 7 months and holding herself very well today. Pretty feminine head of correct shape. Well balanced front and rear angulation. Good length through the ribbing and short loin. Excellent topline. Moved very sound.

2nd Mutton’s Montone Be Brave

Well boned 8 ½ months old girl. Longer in the leg than the winner. Still a little loose coming and going. Well placed ears and correct almond shaped eyes. Good coat.

3rd Jennings’s Ayseebee Diamond Sky

Junior Dog or Bitch (1) Entries

1st & BOB & Hound Group 3 Kerry’s Kireton Hebe

This black and tan youngster was full of quality and my notes say ‘Loved her’! No exaggeration, correct angulation front and rear. Long neck let into well laid shoulders. Correct spring of rib. Lovely free action in profile and good drive from the rear. I had no hesitation in giving her BOB and she made a very good account of herself in the Group ring too! Well done and I will watch her with interest!

Post-Grad Dog or Bitch (2 Entries 1 Abs)

1st Jennings’s Duddondaxs Judge Jude

This 19 months old male weighed a little heavy on the scales but was neither fat nor large. He had an attractive head with well shaped eye. Good length of neck. Good keel. Correct length of loin. Moved well in profile.

Open Dog or Bitch (4 Entries 1 Abs)

1st Mutton’s Poshpride Alfa Lady (Imp Ukr)

Black and tan girl who was very feminine. Lovely head and eye shape. Well placed ears. Moderate length of leg. Well angulated both front and rear. Good spring of rib and correct keel. Moved very sound and with drive when viewed in profile. Good front extension.

2nd Kerry’s Kireton Cici

This girl was close up on 1 and with many of the same attributes. I thought she had slightly better bone than 1, but she was carrying a little too much weight which affected her front movement. On another day, these two could change places.

Strong masculine male. Good angulation front and rear. Well sprung ribs with short loin. Good tail set. Moved sound behind.

Open Dog or Bitch (3) Entries

1st & BOB & Hound Group 4 Hastings’s Lesandnic Sleepytime ShCM

Feminine bitch with lovely pretty head. Well put together all through. Her rear angulation won her the class. Shorter coupled than 2, she moved really well, both in profile and on the up and back. Took a good place in a lovely hound group. Well done!

2nd Hutchins’s Tendrow I Am The One From Collidach JW

Another well made bitch, with a good forechest and well angulated front. A little longer set than the winner, but still good quality. Moved sound and with reach in front.

3rd Weatherers Salixian Levante Via Itsuitzuz

DACHSHUND (Min Wire Haired)

Puppy Dog or Bitch (4 Entries 1 Abs)

1st & BP & BOB & Hound Puppy Group 1 Clares Drakesleat Helen Back to Mabellene

What a little star this girl was. 9 months old and excellent quality from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. Super head with correct eye shape and size. Lovely front with excellent breast bone. Correct angulation both front and rear which together produced sound driving movement. Well sprung ribcage with correct length of loin and excellent topline. I will be watching her career with interest! Had no hesitation in giving her a well deserved BOB and then Hound Puppy Group 1. Good luck with her!

2nd Evans Driveelm Stand By Me Honey

This baby had a lovely shape to her and moved well. Balanced throughout, with correct angles front and rear, but she just needs to settle yet to make best use of her conformation. With a little more time she should do well.

HOUND GROUP

1st Doughty’s Maanhaar Primo-Creatus Henrietta For Rubiltra (Imp UKR) (Rhodesian Ridgeback)

This classy 15 months old girl and I have met before! I gave her BP and BOB when I judged her before and she came through to the hound group today from her breed classes with BOB. I loved her breed type and movement before and the only thing that was different was a little more maturity on her! All her qualities were still shining through as before and she appealed all over again! No hesitation in giving her the Hound Group. One I will watch with interest.

2nd Milligan-Bott & Bott’s Thendara Love It Like That (Afghan Hound)

Lovely boy with correct head and expression. Good angulation front and rear. Good bone and feet. Level topline with good fallaway. Moved with a style of high order and his ringed tail completed the picture.

HOUND PUPPY GROUP

1st Clares Drakesleat Helen Back to Mabellene (Min Wire Haired Dachshund)

2nd Roderick’s Barterhound Princess (Beagle)

This 7 months old girl certainly was a merry little hound. She came into the ring as if she owned it, with long easy strides and a determined attitude. She was feminine but with strength. Balanced with excellent angulation front and rear and looked like she could go out and do a days work! Loved her head and expression. Moved as I knew she would. Another who will do well!
