Miniature Dachshund Club Sub Group Open Show, Sunday 17th June, 2018

I would like to give my grateful thanks to the committee for the invitation to judge all three varieties and to the exhibitors for such a lovely entry. Temperaments were as one would expect, wonderful. Dentition was excellent throughout, as was body condition with only a couple just tipping the scales. After judging the three varieties I handed over the reins to Jenny Rowe (Boloria) to judge BIS. I was extremely pleased with all the BOBs, BPIBs and BVIBs that I put forward and thrilled to see Best In Show awarded to the MSH, Jason and Sue Hunts, Carpaccio Midnight Lace JW, Best Puppy In Show to the MWH, Yvonne Kent’s Barratini Ready to Rumble at Lokmadi and Best Veteran In Show to the MSH, Yvonne Kent’s Lokmadi Hidden Dragon. It was an extremely enjoyable day and I congratulate you all on the friendly atmosphere and good sportsmanship.

1st Burke & Manstons, Bonavoir Black Jack -Black & Tan 10mths, attractive male, excelled in head, good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, prominent forechest, good length of rib, short loin, strong well muscled hindquarters, nicely balanced throughout, moved sound and true. 2nd Protheroes, Royalmaple Fiddle Sticks – another lovely Black & Tan boy of 10mths, strong in head, good reach of neck, well angulated fore and aft, moved sound and true, just needs a bit more confidence to do himself justice. RBD

1st Phillips, Stargang High Hopes of Robinswood, Red, pleasing head properties, adequate angulation, moved well, needs to firm up in topline.

1st Mugglestons, Mosiarto Mister Valentino JW, Red, lovely head and expression, good prosternum, well ribbed, short loin, moved well.

Open Dog (1,0)

1st Mant-Woods, Lokmadi Come Fly With Me To Bowetts – Red, attractive head and expression, lovely reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, good length of rib, nicely angulated hindquarters, a little unsettled on the move which also affected his topline.

Puppy Bitch (10, 1)

1st Hunts, Carpaccio Clarice Cliff – Black & Tan 7 mths, what a super puppy, ideal head properties, good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, well ribbed, short loin, well angulated fore and aft, just needs to settle on the move and time is on her side. BPB

2nd Kerrys, Kireton Hebe- another lovely Black & Tan girl, 11mths, attractive head and expression, of good size and type, well angulated throughout, moved well.

2nd Muggletons, Mosiarto Miss Calculate JW – Red – another of good type and quality, excellent head properties, well angulated throughout, moved sound and true.

1st Whitnalls, Cankasper Myss China Doll – Red, of good size and type, feminine head, good length of rib, well angulated throughout, moved well keeping topline – my notes say could improve on presentation. BB & RBOB

1st Phillips CH Curtisey Boogy Woogy JW, Brindle 8yrs, what a smart little chap, super head and expression, good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, harsh jacket, well angulated, moved well. BVIB

Puppy Dog (2,0)

1st Kents, Barratini Ready to Rumble at Lokmadi, Red, 6mths, this chap took my eye immediately and I wasn’t disappointed, the most pleasing head and expression, good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, well ribbed & good depth of chest, short loin, muscular angulated hindquarters, moved and showed well – very promising - BPD, RBD, BPIB & BPIS

2nd Tomsetts, Dajean Chocolate Chip – Choc & Tan, 7 mths – lovely head and expression, superb harsh jacket, different in type to 1. Whilst having a good pro-sterum he was rather short in neck which followed through to being upright in shoulder. Good hind angulation and moved ok.

1st Tomsetts, Westwillow Rikki Tikki Tavi – Red, attractive head and expression, good harsh jacket, rather long cast. Moved ok.

1st Shones, Hanishan Bezique – Smart Red, the most pleasing head properties and expression, good neck onto well laid shoulders, well ribbed, short loin, up to size, moved well.

2nd Tomsetts, Dajean Starstruck – Brindle – same comments apply – close decision – preferred front of 1.

Open Dog (2,1)

1st Roses, Ridanflight Rock On Tommy – Brindle – super type and size, loved his head properties and expression, good length of neck onto well laid shoulders, well ribbed, good depth of chest, short loin, muscled angulated hindquarters, correct jacket – moved well keeping topline. BD & RBOB

Puppy Bitch (8,2)

1st Tomsetts, Dajean’s Happy Sunbeam – Red, 11mths – another super puppy with all the correct properties, similar comments as per my Puppy dog winner, just needs to settle on the move. BPB, RBB

2nd Roses, Dexidax Doris Day at Ridanflight – Brindle, 7 mths – loved this girls head and expression, smaller in type to 1, moved well, needs to settle in topline which I’m sure will come with maturity.

3rd Weeks, Beldrew Flora at Avon

1st Daykins, Barratini Angel Eyes – 17 mths , Brindle, caught my eye immediately, what a joy to go over; everything fits into place, correct head properties, feminine expression, super reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, well ribbed and good depth of chest, short loin, well angulated hind quarters, moved so well and topped off by a super correct coat. BB, BOB & RBIS

2nd Morris, Pennywave Pollyanna – 16 mths, Brindle, another lovely girl with many good qualities, feminine head, well placed shoulders with a good front, well ribbed, short loin, moved well.

3rd Tubbs, Westwillow Madam Butterfly

1st Morris, Stargang Quintina at Pennywave – Brindle, of good size and type, pleasing head properties and expression, super jacket, moved well.

2nd Shones, Hanishan Lady in the Lake – Red, another girl of good size and overall type, lovely head and expression, good harsh jacket, moved ok.

1st Morris, Pennywave Uptown Girl JW ShCM – Brindle, super girl with lovely head properties and expression, good reach of neck ointo well laid shoulders, depth of chest, well ribbed, short loin, well angulated hind quarters, super jacket and moved sound and true.

2nd Shelleys, Ubu Frida Kahlo to Heleanne – good head and kind eye giving a pleasing expression, different in type to 1 being more up on the leg and longer in loin. Super jacket, moved ok.

Open Bitch (3,2)

1st Morris, Pennywave Top Totti JW ShCM – Brindle, pleasing overall type with good head properties, adequate reach of neck, well laid shoulders, prefer more length of rib, harsh jacket, moved well keeping topline.
