Catalan Sheepdogs 

My thanks to the exhibitors for the lovely, quality entry today, it was so pleasing to find so many sound and happy dogs with the temperament and outlook of the practical and functional working dog that this breed should be. All exhibits were well muscled and fit and with the required dewclaws. Thanks too to the very cheerful and efficient stewards who had had a long day but kept smiling.

1. KIRKLAND Mrs C Hom Des Llucanes For Hollybeck NAF TAF (Sp Imp)

Just a little more together on the day than 2. I liked both of these boys very much. This male had a little more finish in body maturity, he was really well balanced with a strong proportionate head, correct height to length proportions with good rib and brisket, well marked wither, slightly sloping croup, tail of good length, a good wavy rough coat and excellent movement RBD

2nd: 3512 HANSFORD, Mrs D & DONNELLY Miss C Le Magicien D'oz Du Clos Millette At Peregos (Imp) he has a slightly larger frame and just needs a bit more time to develop in chest and rib but I love his strong head and square jaw with chunky short muzzle, kind dark eyes, good pigmentation, well proportioned in body with good angulation fore and aft and a firm topline, excellent weatherproof coat, soundly moving.

1st: 3509 THOMAS & OSBORNE Int Ch & Ir Ch Xanthos De Pastors De Blo At Starwell

So very typical of the breed and full of breed type. Really well built but totally functional with a solid head, good bone with width of chest with straight forelegs, moderate well set neck with good shoulders, well proportioned with level topline and slightly cut croup, tail well set and to hock, in solid condition and good coat, fit for purpose, moved with reach and drive, tendency to pace but I have no problem with pastoral dogs who pace, it is a natural gait for the job they need to do. BD

1st: 3510 FIELDSEND , Mrs A & MARR Mr & Mrs P Int Ch & Ir Ch La Petit Rana's Aikos Xenia At Kawa

A dog I have admired before and he still gives so much in the ring. A robust and well balanced dog with a strong head, solid neck and well muscled front and rear, level topline and compact, strong loin, good tail, strode out freely, shown in excellent coat and condition.

1st: 3515 KIRKLAND Mrs C Hollybeck Purple Hazel

A little overawed but she stood her ground and was confident on the move. Immature at present but with all the essentials and lovely dark eyes in a pretty and proportionate head. With time and confidence she should mature in to a very handy bitch, she has nice balance and very sound movement.

1st: 3517 KITCHEN Mr & Mrs C A Sevarna Delightful Dilys

In between coats today, very feminine but still with good strength, she’s very strong for breed type and well constructed with the correct neck, angulation and proportions, a strong head, short blunt muzzle and dark eyes. Firm level topline with short cut croup and curved tail to hock, very sound movement, not quite the animation and drive of the BB but she gave an excellent account of herself. RBB.

1st: 3511 FIELDSEND, Mr T & Mrs A & BODMIN- BARNES Mrs C Kawanna Miss Sunshine At Starwell

Top class with oodles of ring presence and an attitude to match. Lovely breed type with a strong head and blunt muzzle, moderate neck, excellent front with chest and bone, all in proportion, excellent compact body with correct proportions, strong through the loin with correct croup, super animation and drive on the move, flies her tail a bit but that goes hand in hand with her energy and temperament, it’s correctly set, not curling over or touching the back so more than acceptable, beautiful on the move and super harsh wavy outer coat with a full undercoat, I loved her! BB, BOB.

1. 2nd: 3513 HANSFORD, Mrs D & DONNELLY Miss C Alvegi Borzas Dona At Peregos (Imp)

 I liked her a lot for shape and type and I have placed her well before, she has a good head, dark eyes and blunt muzzle with correct neck and shoulder, lovely proportions, good in body with well marked withers, firm topline, slight slope to croup and well muscled thighs, sound and free on the move, out of coat today which cost her RBB.

3rd: 3518 KITCHEN Mr & Mrs C A Sevarna Catalonia's Angel

Feminine girl with a proportionate head, dark eyes and excellent pigmentation. Moderately short neck with withers defined, compact and strong but a little short on the leg and not as balanced as the other two. Soundly constructed and a she moves steadily, in excellent coat.
