Breed: Best In Show

Best In Show I felt honoured to be invited to judge the Hound Group, BIS, Best Puppy and Best Veteran at this friendly well run show and take this opportunity to thank the Officers and Committee for inviting me. Everything was well organised and the BIS ring enabled every exhibit, regardless of size, the freedom to strut their stuff. Seven outstanding breed representatives were on show and I enjoyed this chance to go over them. From the Pastoral Group came the Bearded Collie Pedder Ch Caldermist Kiss In The Dark, exemplifies the breed and displays clean flowing lines, cleanest of heads not overdone, he gave smooth free movement and his superb dry coat was the icing on the cake. The Bernese Mountain Dog Hartley-Mair & Dyball Ch Meadowpark High Class came forward from the Working Group, one I have admired before, such a well balanced expressive head, masculine he carries great bone and a typical coat, foot perfect when required to move, today was probably the best I have seen him. From the Terriers came the Smooth Fox Terrier Schoneberg Am Ch Absolutely Signature, B/W very smart lad with length to head and clean outline, well proportioned and on his toes, presented and showing to advantage. The Utility Group was represented by the Dalmatian Neath-Duggan & Baker Ch Buffrey Incognito by Dalleaf, real carriage dog, clean lines, alert giving the impression he could just keep going, superbly muscled and well conditioned. The young Japanese Chin came forward from the Toy Group Allcock Littletigers Damage Case at Sleepyhollow, dedicated kennel and this chap has it all going for him, typical shock expression from his well placed clean eyes, he carries a very typy headpiece, this dainty lad is balanced and steps out with purpose, quality coat and presentation. BIS went to the PBGV, Robertson & Doherty Ch Soletrader Magic Mike, not a deal I can add about this lad, I love his size, balance and feel he epitomises this lovely breed, he performed flawlessly to take the ultimate award. RBIS was the Cocker Spaniel Whiting Sh Ch Annilann Miss Sing, blue roan and definitely merry, adored her head and expression which conveys a hint of naughtiness, she is feminine but solid in build, , moving with consummate ease and impressive deportment using her tail to full advantage, correct muscular condition, the whole enhanced by her beautiful clear coat. I couldn’t have wished for more, a superb line-up of seven top notch specimens. Stuart J Mallard
