National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

Breed: Old English Sheepdog

Thank you to the Committee of The National Working and Pastoral Breeds Society and especially Ann Arch for my first CC appointment, also to all exhibitors who braved the heat of this summer and gave me the privilege of assessing their dogs. I was very pleased to see my BOB and BP were both looking fresh despite the heat and short listed in their groups later in the day.

Puppy Dog (4,2)

Windsor's Holaja Go Wild - 9 months and beautifully proportioned, strong jaw and head properties with 2 dark well pigmented eyes. Lovely neck into clean well angulated shoulders, good spring of rib, short coupling and good rise. Rear angles to match front and good muscling for age which was clearly evident as he covered the ground with ease. Coat changing well, I look forward to watching him mature. BPD

Barton’s Amblehay Dragon Heart - also 9 months, a larger boy with very good head properties and width to skull, 2 dark eyes with enough neck into well angulated shoulders. Deep brisket, short coupled with gentle rise, proportionate angles behind with good muscle. Not as settled on the move today.

Junior Dog (3,0)

Reeves’ Shaggy Blue Bob’s Xeres at Brinkley (Imp) - At almost 18 mths old he draws your attention on entering the ring with his shape and impeccable presentation. Capacious head with wide jaw and correct dentition, 2 dark eyes with developing pigment. Very good reach of neck into correctly angulated shoulders and straight front, well off for bone, deep brisket with good spring to ribs, short coupled with nice rise to loin. Strong rear with correct angles and well let down hocks giving effortless movement. Profuse silver junior jacket, just lost on maturity to RCC winner.

Jone’s Hickorystix Mr Bojangles at Cooljays - Super head properties with a cheeky expression, 2 brown eyes which could be darker, enough neck into clean shoulders. Good bone and deep brisket, longer through loin than 1st place. Strong rear with neat hocks, coat of the harshest texture which needs to clear, moved well once settled.

Wileman’s Jeddep Remi Martin to Lindisfarm - Good head properties, enough neck and good angulation fore and aft. Carrying a little weight which showed in his movement today.

Post Graduate Dog (3,0)

Huggan’s Jandoes Born To Be Wild At Jazziespad - Strong capacious skull with good bite and strong jaw, wall eye with good pigment, well arched neck into clean well angulated shoulders, straight front and super square compact shape, deep brisket and good rise, correct angles behind, well developed muscle with low set hocks, not the biggest of jackets but harsh and profuse. So very balanced on the move which won him the class today.

Bell’s Bovaron Easy Rider At Soulbobs - A slightly larger dog with many of the same attributes as 1st, just slightly longer through the loin. Well muscled and presented to perfection by his handler.

Kirby’s Macopa Moment In Time - another boy of good type, corect head with good angles fore and aft, profuse crisp jacket but didn’t settle on the move today.

Limit Dog (0,0)

Open Dog (8,1)

This was a wonderful class of mature dogs, thank you to the exhibitors                                                                                                   Burns Ch Melleonar’s Crackerjack At Bovaron (Imp) - He commanded the ring as soon as he walked in, an impressive boy in full bloom who looks happy to be in the ring, a capacious skull with strong jaw and correct bite, a good stop and two dark eyes with pigment. A beautifully arched neck leading to well angulated shoulders and straight front, deep brisket and good spring of rib. Well tucked in elbows and short through the loin with a rise to his topline. He has plenty of bone with excellent hind angulation a good bend of stifle and well muscled thigh. He moved easily round the ring with effortless reach and drive, pleased to award him the DCC and BOB, then watch him make the short list in a strong group under Mark James on a very hot afternoon.

Turner’s Hibray Unwrapped For Barkeston - another super boy, smaller but just as compact and well off for bone, his heavy head markings give him a lovely expression. Strong fore face and head properties, good bite and two dark eyes with heavy pigment. Lovely arched neck, well angulated shoulders and straight front. Tight elbows with a deep brisket and well sprung ribs, short through loin with amble bone for his size. Good rise over a short loin and well muscled thigh, correct rear angles which he used effectively when on the move. Pleased to award him the RCC which I believe is his 8th.

Bradley’s Hibray Under My Spell - the same attributes as his litter brother who was 2nd, I prefered the movement of 2nd but nevertheless a lovely boy.

Veteran Dog or Bitch (1,0)

Laybourne & Johnson’s Mellowdee The Magician In Dominoesdale ShCM - A 9 year old boy in good condition for his age, Good head properties and still has good teeth, he has enough neck and correct shoulders, deep brisket and a spring of rib. Rear angulation is good and he has plenty of muscle. His coat is starting to lose texture but there is plenty of it, he was feeling the heat today and it showed in his movement - which is understandable in the high temperatures of this summer.

Puppy Bitch (4,0)

A lovely class of puppies and I’m sure they will all change places in the future                                                                                       Joice’s Raynham Good Day Sunshine, a larger but still feminine 10 month old young lady, a well developed head, enough neck and well angled shoulders with tight elbows and deep chest. Short coupled with plenty of bone and a gentle rise to the loin. Profuse puppy jacket. Well muscled with super rear angulation, a little unsettled to start with but her movement and maturity won her the class. Pleased to award her BPIB and watch her make the short list in a strong group under Geoff Corrish on a very hot afternoon.

Wilkinson's Kalaju Klassicly Klassy - 7 months old and giving some away in age, another very feminine girl with lovely markings on a well developed head, good neck leading to straight front and well angulated shoulders, short coupled with a rise and lovely bone for her size. Strong well angled rear which she used once settled on the move. Coat changing well for her age, she will have a bright future.

Wheeler’s Makaylen Miss Money Penny - at 7 months a raw baby, good head and front and rear construction, a little longer through the loin than 1st and 2nd. Moved well when settled.

Junior Bitch (4,0)

Palmer’s Hazyland’s Cheeky Girl - This little lady took my eye as soon as she entered the ring as she radiates femininity. 13 months old with a 2 very dark eyes giving a sweet expression, strong fore face and square jaw, good head properties. Arched neck into clean well angulated shoulders, short and compact through body with good spring of rib. Gentle rise to loin and well angulated rear with ample muscle. Bone to match her size and a lovely clear yearling jacket with a crisp texture. She moved steadily with reach and drive.

Robertson’s Hickorystix Keep The Faith - a bigger girl of 16 months, nice head with two brown eyes, good length of neck into clean shoulders, straight front with enough bone for her size, profuse junior jacket of good texture. Front and rear angles OK but on the move she didn’t have the front reach or rear drive of the winner.

Matthews’ Hickorystix All That Jazz at Gojolega - slightly longer cast than her litter sister and jacket needs to clear.

Post Graduate Bitch (6,1)

Crane-Duplock & Duplock’s Shaggy Blue Bob’s Way To Go With Mirene (Imp) JW - Good head properties with a strong muzzle and jaw, two very dark eyes with pigment, good reach of neck into correct lay of shoulder, deep brisket with good spring of rib behind tucked in elbows. Well arched neck into correct shoulder placement, deep brisket, tightly tucked in elbows and a good spring to the rib, plenty of bone for her size. Very short coupled with a super rise. Good rear angulation and turn of stifle with well developed muscle and well let down hocks. On the move she showed good front extension and rear drive. Her coat is dark and still to completely finish clearing but is of good quality and this couldn’t stop her taking the RCC.

Naismith’s Zottels Honey Moon At Shaggybo ShCM - a larger girl but just as feminine and beautifully presented. Good head properties with a strong muzzle and correct dentition. Nicely arched neck into well angulated shoulders, deep brisket and good spring to rib, slightly longer through loin than 1st. Well off for bone and well muscled, good hind angulation.
