Boston & District Canine Society

Breed: Fox Terrier (Smooth)

Boston & District Canine Society, 7 January 2018.

My sincere thanks to the committee for the opportunity to judge at this championship show, for the assistance from my stewards and to all of the exhibitors, although few, for their support.

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER JUNIOR DOG, 2,2

1st Brookes Snugglewood’s Mefisto OP Zetamaz (IMP) 17months tick marked white male, balanced in head with small ears, short in back and stands on small cat feet with good bone. He was a little wide in front movement today but has an excellent rear with plenty behind the tail.

2nd Turley Llyunamill Black Tie Affair, an overall bigger 8 months’ male who does not want to grow on. He was very well presented, has a long lean head, small, dark, well set eyes, ears a little heavy for me. Used his neck well on the move, would prefer shorter loin, lovely outgoing temperament. Best Puppy.

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER LIMIT DOG, 2,1

1st Turley Zetamaz Marcel Marceau Avec Llyunamill JW ShCM, 3 year black and white. A little broad in head for me but nice round eye which was well filled under, excellent ears, flat skull and good mouth. Broad chest, well ribbed, nice legs, would like tighter feet and better set on. Moved exuberantly.

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER OPEN DOG, 3,0

A difficult class as none of the dogs were new to me and have done well under me in the past. Very much performance on the day as all 3 were champions and all have had much success.

1st Thornton, Bebbington & Boon Ch. Glendraterra Freddi Mercury, a 7 year old heavily marked black and white returning from retirement. He was alert and up on his toes, clearly happy to be back. Long lean balanced head, excellent mouth, small, dark round eyes, flat skull and small ears set on top. He had a reachy neck into well laid shoulder, down lovely legs onto small feet. He is well ribbed, short in back, excellent bend of stifle and great tail set and carriage. Pleased to award him beset dog and best of breed.

2nd Brooms Ch. Oaxaca Del Boy with Roxway, a tan and white boy who I very much admire, he is in excellent shape, everything is where it should be, he is well balanced, excellent head, short backed, tail on top, he was just not 100% cooperative today and this was causing him to toe in and thus he had to stand 2nd to the more composed dog. Res Best Dog.

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER PUPPY BITCH, 0,0

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER LIMIT BITCH, 1,1

SMOOTH FOX TERRIER OPEN BITCH, 4,0

1st Saunders Venice VD Bismarckquelle ShCM (IMP DEU) a smart 2 year old black and white bitch who was recently my best in show at the Club show. My thoughts on her have not changed she is smart, balanced, and accurate on the stand (which she does freely) and on the move, she was perhaps lacking a little in bodyweight today but did not detract. Delighted to award her best bitch and res best of breed.

2nd Thornton & Bebbington Glendraterra Dezina Label, a 2 year old black and white bitch with the most stunning of heads, excellent mouth, strong jaw, flat skull beautiful neat little ears, the most attractive dark sparkling eyes. Standing she is a picture with a great reach of neck, short loin, lovely set on and well muscled rear. She was pulling in on the move and thus affected front movement, very positive on the rear. Res Best Bitch.
