Windsor 2018 Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

Having judged this breed on quite a few occasions I have come to appreciate that ‘what you see, is what you get’.

They do not need mauling and the construction gives a very good idea of what to expect in movement.

All exhibits had the opportunity to prove their construction even though I kept movement to a minimum given the

 considerations of the very hot weather and the exceptionally large ring. I was looking for a strong, athletic hound,

 rectangular in outline with a good level of quality. In the main they were presented really well with only a couple

 needing a bath! I wanted the males to be a harmonious blend of strength and vigour with a masculine outlook.

without appearing coarse. I wanted the bitches to have femininity but still with strength and vigour.

I really didn’t find any deep seated or preponderant faults, which augurs well for the breed.

Class 350 VD (6 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 900 KAPMA-SAUNDERS Mrs C R Diamondridge Belladonis Very balanced and houndy.

Nice angles fore and aft. Moved out very well.

2nd: 893 HURN Mrs N & Mr M Rufus On The Lawn Of Matikiridge Sh.CM. This one was a shade shorter coupled.

Shade straighter in stifle. Moved out well nevertheless.

3rd: 895 JEFFERY Mrs E L Ch Zenzele's Chase The Ace JW

1st: 909 PARKE Mrs J S & Mr M J Veldtkammer Driving Me Wild . Very good for type. He is young, immature and gangly.

His front needs to strengthen. Good outline with a masculine head. Fair shoulders but a shade straight in stifle at this

stage. Very free on the move.

2nd: 923 SOUTHWICK Mrs M Kinabula's Bear Grylls. Shorter coupled type. Obviously needs to mature as well.

Has some promise but lacks the houndier outline I prefer.

Class 353 JD (4 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: 906 MITCHELSON Mrs G & Mr P Diamondridge Dream Chaser At Voortrekke. Very tall and lanky and again he needs

to mature. Masculine head. Fairly straight through the shoulders. Decent outline. Free on the move but tends to

roach a little, parallel nevertheless.

Class 354 YD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 868 CHAVEZ-NOVOA Mrs L M Carlincox First Impression JW This is the sort of strong masculine dog I was

looking for. Good strength and athleticism on the move. Very typical in outline. Looks like a stallion. Moved out well.

Just too strong for me in head to take him to higher honours.

 854 ADDERLEY Miss J Tambyssa's Teasel . Very well balanced of a shorter coupled type. Looks good on the move but

Lacking a shade in confidence to project himself.

3rd: 886 HAWKINS, Ms J & SMITH, Mr J W & HODGE Mrs K G Oracle's Prophecy

Class 355 PGD (1 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 870 COLLIE, Mrs A & COLLIE Dr J Kitoko Uptown Funky Fritz . Very useful sort. Masculine head which is not

overdone. Strong through the front. Fair balance. Looks very together on the stack and moves out with a good

free cadence.

Class 356 LD (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 881 FARLEIGH Mrs M L Kinabula's Taking Chances . Really exceptional balance, filled my eye easily.

 Good front, complimentary hindquarters. Very true on the move with the strength and athleticism the

Standard calls for. Obviously masculine in outlook without being overdone. Liked him a lot. CC and BOB.

2nd: 910 PARRISH Mrs D Rottzridge Mad About The Boy. This one is also very nice. Shorter coupled than the winner.

Balanced and very good on the move.

3rd: 863 BROWN, Mr C & MCINTOSH Ms E Chagall Akua

1st: 866 CATHARELL Mr & Mrs H & C L Faahac Free N'easy JW Sh.CM . Liver dog with a good solid outline and beautifully

efficient movement. Harmonious and athletic. Masculine head and expression without being overdone. Res CC

2nd: 873 COX Mrs L A Gens Julia Toretto Always The First At Carlincox . Different style and nearer to my interpretation

of the standard than the winner. He has elegance and masculinity combined. Very good body with a strong front.

His hindquarter action let him down today.

 balance to her outline. Clinched the class on her more positive movement. BV.

2nd: 865 CATHARELL Mrs & Miss C L & M L Kitoko Mabel. Sister to the winner and a shade lighter all through.

 Insisted on pulling away on the move.

3rd: 922 SMITH Mr D K & Mrs J I Neelanjali Premier Rose At Lilongwe

1st: 867 CATLEY , Miss A & MCGIMPSEY Mr R Diamondridge Roll The Dice. Absolutely stunning young bitch.

 Her head is just lovely , her type is just right, her outline and balance filled my eye.

Her movement was sound, precise, free flowing and athletic. Totally fitted my interpretation of the Standard.

 Took my breath away. When you find an exhibit of this quality, no matter how young/old, it has to be rewarded.

 Put on a good show and moved with athleticism. Very nicely balanced in outline .

2nd: 878 DOUGHTY Mr & Mrs R & T Maanhaar Primo-creatus Henrietta For Rubiltra (Imp) Houndy puppy with a

good outline. Moved out very well just not the finish of the winner as yet.

1st: 903 LARKIN Mrs J E Rubicon Red Do The Right Thing Royaal Pearl (Imp). Really good and well-made bitch.

Balanced all through but could do with a touch more length of leg. Very good on the move where she made the most

 of herself.

2nd: 888 HICKS Mrs S & Mr J Nuthouse Some Like It Hot. Very typical and houndy bitch. Fairly good in outline

and balance. Moved out fairly well, just didn’t put the amount of effort into it as the winner.

3rd: 926 TAYLOR Mrs E Tokwe Truly Gintastic

1st: 860 BOWLUS Mrs J Firedance's On Her Terms. Short coupled bitch with an attractive head. Moved out very well

 making the most of herself. Althetic and elegant.

2nd: 864 CARLTON Ms C A Umhlandla Phaphathekileyo. Totally different type with more strength throughout. Typical

and presents a decent balance and outline. Not as good in pastern as she could be.

3rd: 927 TAYLOR Mrs E Tokwe Truly Tickety Boo

1st: 891 HODGE Mrs K Colkeririn Face To The Sun JW Sh.CM. Good bitch of nice balance and outline. Feminine head.

 Decent front. Really excelled on the move in this class

2nd: 889 HICKS Mrs S & Mr J Nuthouse Hot Stuff. Another decent bitch with a feminine expression. Good outline

and fair movement

3rd: 921 SIMPER Mrs S M Amahle Ayita Of Matabelle

Class 367 OB (10 Entries) Abs: 3

1st: 890 HICKS Mrs S & Mr J Nuthouse Romance. This was tough class with different types displaying a wide range

 of virtues and faults. The winner is houndy in outline, well balanced and well bodied. She is feminine in outlook and

sound and free on the move. One of those bitches that really need appreciating for her closeness to the Standard ,

 she is just a good bitch all though and I rewarded that on the day with the Res.CC.

2nd: 920 SALMON Mrs K Diamondridge Distant Drum At Lobengula. Another very nice type of bitch with little to

 separate her from the winner. The winner being just a shade more positive on the move, nevertheless, another

good bitch.

3rd: 874 COX Mrs L A Carlincox First Class JW

1st: 894 HURN Mrs N & Mr M Abayomi The Light Fantastic Of Matikiridge. Solidly made with a reasonable outline.

Sound and fairly good on the move.

Class 369 SBB (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 931 WHITE, Mr A & CONNOLLY Miss F Belle Epoque Of Nguvu (Imp) . Compact bitch with decent balance.

 Not keen on her tailset. Moved out very well. BSB

2nd: 926 TAYLOR Mrs E Tokwe Truly Gintastic. Much lighter bitch all through and fails a little in this respect.

Moved out well enough.

3rd: 933 ZAMAN, Mrs M M & BARNES Mrs L Diamondridge Demi Moore
