Windsor Dog Show Society

Breed: Tibetan Terrier

I apologise for the delay with this critique and thank you for all the good wishes and kindnesses I have received in the last few weeks.

I was very pleased with my entry and felt that the exhibits were more even than when I last judged at Bath in 2015. However, I do feel that too much emphasis is being paid to coat and presentation at the expense of some breed characteristics. The majority of dogs were square with correct leg to body depth balance. I was pleased not to find any dogs with very small feet. My biggest disappointment was with heads with light and yellow eyes being all too prevalent. Most dogs had the correct skull length to muzzle proportions correct but in general they were too narrow across the skull with ears set far back and facing forward. These features along with a lack of strength in muzzle tended to spoil expressions.

Much attention now appears to be paid to side gate and most dogs had a balanced style of movement due to matching construction fore and rear, however watching the dogs moving out and back tells a different story with too many being narrow in front and close (even crossing) behind. Along with the narrow fronts often came a rib cage which didn’t extend to the elbows.
