WELSH SPRINGER SPANIELS

My first time judging with CCs & I thank you for your excellent entry. I was spoilt for choice & thoroughly enjoyed the chance of going over some excellent examples of the breed.

VD (2) 1 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Sh Ch Glenbrows Band Of Brothers for Benoveor, a very masculine dog with a super head & expression, he is balanced & of a good shape & size, in excellent coat & condition, with a clean neck & shoulder, strong topline & loin, moved well on well boned legs & feet, he is quality & a lovely type. BV & pleased to hear he went on to take group 2 in the veteran group; 2 Tolladay’s Sh Ch Ferndel Comander of Bethersden, very close up, as they are both excellent examples of the breed, this quality boy has so many attributes starting with his excellent neck & shoulders, good depth & width of chest, lovely loin, topline & tailset, moved so well covering the ground with ease, in lovely coat & condition. MPD (0) PD (3,2a) 1 Douglas’ Bonvis Cadfael to Santallina, typical youngster who was in very good coat & condition, moved very soundly for his age, typical head & expression for a baby with good neck & shoulders, lovely type with a good topline & tailset, showed very well for a baby. BPD. Alone but could do well in any company. JD (5,2) 1 Morgan & Schofield’s Cwsscwn Who Knew, loved his head & expression with a good eye of a correct colour, well set & carried ears, excellent neck & shoulders, good body proportions, a quality youngster who was in good coat & condition, strong topline & well set tail, lovely hindquarters & a good size, quality youngster who really came alive on the move with an excellent head carriage; 2 Worth’s Sarabande Lord Of The Dance, slightly younger than 1 but that age difference really shows in these youngsters. Loved his type, head & expression, in excellent coat & condition but just need to finish to complete the picture for he has a good neck & shoulder placement with a good topline & well set tail, lovely hindquarters & his good body proportions show in his excellent profile movement, with maturity must challenge the best; 3 Ceriati’s Fascinellie Got The Charm. ND (2,1) 1 B Cadfael to S. PGD (6,1) 1 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Glenbrows Van Gogh for Benoveor, put down in excellent coat & condition, loved his head & expression with very expressive eyes & well set ears, good neck & shoulders, strong topline & well set tail, drove from strong rear quarters on well boned legs & feet, good hocks & loin completed the picture, he is quality & a lovely type; 2 Graham & Hogstrom’s Don’s Statement to Nyliram, roughly the same age but just a bit behind in development at present, also a quality boy of an excellent type, loved his head & expression, again excellent presentation of a correct coat, good body proportions with excellent construction, moved well looking particularly balanced in profile with a good head carriage, very masculine in outlook; 3 Jenkins & Williams’ Cwmbeili Morgan. LD (11) 1 Ellis & Pilkington’s Shannara Total Eclipse, what a super class to sort out, again I look for the head that appeals first & this one just melted me, his well balanced head with correctly shaped & coloured eyes with just the right amount of stop & well placed & used ears impressed, excellent neck & shoulders, strong topline & well set tail, good ribcage & strong loin, well muscled hindquarters used to drive him round the ring, in excellent coat & condition, he is quality & balanced, a lovely type; 2 Riley’s Ferndel Peanut Butter at Ravensworth, again a lovely type who moved with drive looking pretty amazing in profile with the correct head carriage & strong driving hindquarters & correct footfall, put down to the minute, he has a masculine head & expression with excellent body proportions, good depth of chest & well boned legs & feet; 3 Rees’ Hudolus Rhys Henllys at Typica. OD (7,1) 1 Graham’s Sh Ch Taimere’s Twister Round Nyliram, apparently my best puppy last time I judged but I didn’t remember him for he is now fully matured into a typical, quality Welsh of a good size & proportions, loved his balance & masculine head & expression, in excellent coat & condition, lovely neck & shoulders, strong topline & well set tail, good legs & feet & a strong hindquarter used to power him round the ring effortlessly. CC & BOB & I understand, shortlisted in the group; 2 Harrison’s Sh Ch Glenbrows Picture Me Now, another from the top drawer, this quality dog is very masculine in outlook & of course, had that head which appealed, well set & shaped eyes giving the correct expression, excellent neck & shoulders, good topline & tailset, good ribcage & strong loin, excellent well muscled hindquarters, in excellent coat & condition, he is balanced & correct movement completed the picture. RCC; 3 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Kamunting Cast Away to Benoveor.

VB (2) 1 Sutherland’s Ch Julita Rezanella of Jacranella, at 9 she is entitled to be showing her age but not in movement which was excellent, nor in coat which was put down in excellent condition, she is a lovely type with such a beautiful expression which was only enhanced by her signs of age, in movement she kept a good strong topline & a good neck & head carriage, lovely front construction, she is a sweetie yet I could see that she could work if asked; 2 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Sh Ch Slapestones Hepburn for Benoveor, younger bitch who doesn’t look like a veteran, she again was put down so well, very pretty bitch, there is no mistaking her sex for she oozes femininity, lovely head & expression, moved well on well boned legs & feet, keeping her topline both set up & moving. MPB (2) 1 McIlwaine & Reynolds’ Benoveor Galway Girl, pretty bitch with lots of potential, she is a lovely make & shape, in good coat & condition, lovely feminine head & expression from well placed & coloured eyes, good earset & carriage, she is balanced with a good neck & shoulders, good body length & good hindquarters, still a baby but she showed so well despite her age; 2 Matthews’ Laithmoor’s Sugar Magnolia at Leomona, not so advanced & at present still a little raw, but when she finishes should have a good career, she enjoyed her day & moved well when she settled, of a good size & with good body proportions, very feminine in head & expression, good coat & condition. PB (3,1) 1 Harrison’s Glenbrows Picturesque, pretty girl with a lovely head & expression, she is balanced with an excellent neck & shoulders, good topline & tailset, good hindquarters, well boned legs & feet, moved so well, she is quality & all she is missing is her coat to complete the picture but this quality young lady just stole the day for me, I can’t wait to follow her progress. BP; 2 B Galway Girl. JB (4,1) 1 Morgan & Schofield’s Cwsscwn De Ja Vu, very mature & finished for age, her head is finished & she has an excellent neck & shoulders, strong topline & a good loin & well set & carried tail, well muscled hindquarters, good ribcage, put down in excellent coat & condition, where she wins is in her precise movement, covering the ground so well yet effortlessly, in profile she has a good head carriage & holds her topline, really driving from her hindquarters, she is quality & balanced; 2 Worth’s Sarabande Dance To The Rhythm, still needs to finish but I loved her head & expression, she is just right for age, just enough coat to complete the picture but the coat she has is correct, good neck & shoulders, good body proportions, excellent construction & when she finishes, she will be one to reckon with; 3 Cooper’s Isfryn Lady Grey. NB (3) 1 G Picturesque; 2 B Galway Girl; 3 Watts’ Glenbrows Regalia. PGB (9,1) What a smashing class to judge. I enjoyed every one of your dogs here. 1 Woodward’s Hinxwood Fire And Ice, so very feminine in outlook, she has such a pretty, feminine head & expression, not an overlarge bitch but here is no mistaking her sex, again that excellent front construction going into a strong topline & loin with a well set & carried tail, well muscled hindquarters, her lovely coat was put down in excellent condition, moved with style & grace on her well boned legs & tight feet, profile movement was a joy to watch. A quality girl who I could not resist for the RCC; 2 Morgan & Schofield’s Ferndel Bon Bon for Cwsscwn, boy what a full coat this young lady has, it is of the correct texture & in excellent condition, of a good size & proportion, slightly heavier in head but still very feminine with a good outlook, excellent neck & shoulders, strong topline & well set tail, good ribcage & loin, well muscled all through & where she comes alive is in movement, really using her well muscled hindquarters to drive round the ring to win her place in this excellent class; 3 Dawson’s Ferndel Heather Dew. LB (6,1) 1 Thomas’ Bowdonia Anastasia, she is balanced & very feminine in outlook, well coated mature bitch of a good type, good depth of chest with a good neck & shoulders, well boned legs & feet used to advantage to cover the ground with ease & an excellent head carriage, put down in excellent coat & condition, held a good topline both set up & moving; 2 Dyer & Dyer’s Benton Small Talk among Tylwyth, pretty headed quality bitch with enough coat which was in excellent condition, so very feminine in outlook, she is balanced & a lovely type, used her feminine head & well made neck & shoulders & well muscled hindquarters to advantage to cover the ground, good ribcage & strong loin; 3 Lampersberger’s Benoveor Field Of Dreams to Kurzeja. OB (3) 1 Thomas & Upton’s Sh Ch Bowdonia Seraphina, this beautiful girl is quality & so very typical, in excellent coat & condition, her head is just for me with well shaped & coloured eyes giving a beautiful expression, framed by good ears of a nice size, excellent neck & shoulders, strong topline & tailset which was well set, well muscled all through, good ribcage, legs & feet, of a good size, thrilled to have a chance to go over her & was pleased to give her the CC & now see that she was RBPIS last time I judged too; 2 Tolladay’s Ferndel High Society to Bethersden, very close up & again the same quality, very feminine in outlook & put down in excellent coat & condition, she showed a treat & no more than in movement where in profile she carried a feminine head on a well set neck into excellent shoulders, holding a strong topline & a well carried tail, very typical girl; 3 Sutherland’s Jacranella Serenade.
