Driffield Championship Dog Show

Breed: German Spitz (Klein)

Not the biggest entry numerically but certainly not lacking in quality.

All presented in good clean condition, although some teeth need attention.

Temperaments were mostly good with only 1 unhappy but otherwise nice looking MPB that didn’t want to be gone over.

The main problem I found today was hocks all over the place when moving away which sadly seems more common in far too many breeds now.

1st: 4045 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS Mr D Longsdale Heat Of The Moment NAF

8m brown with shaded tail. Eye-catching quality, well-made puppy with lovely bone and substance who presents the correct outline and tailset and doesn’t disappoint when you get your hands on him. Attractive masculine head with good skull and balanced muzzle, well-set ears of correct shape, correct eyes with very good colour and pigment for his brown colouring. Good length of neck leading to a level topline, good angulation fore and rear, forechest still developing as you’d expect at this age but depth of brisket is good and matched with correct length of foreleg and finished off with good feet. You see the evidence of all this on the move so although he’s still a little close away and back, that should come with maturity but doesn’t affect his lovely side gait. Pleased to award him CC & BPIB.

1st: 4040 JACKSON, Mrs A E & MINSHALL Mrs F J Perrymere Just Bertie

Almost 12m cream sable with just the slightest hint of shading left. Masculine head with good wedge, lovely dark eyes of correct shape, strong black pigment but ears larger, slightly rounder and wider-set than preferred. Good bone, size and coat and presents a good overall outline. Decent enough side gait and front movement, a bit close behind but not really making the most of himself today as he gave the impression he’d rather be elsewhere.

1st: 4039 DYER, Mrs V A & ORR Mrs S Musique Wishful Thinking JW

22m brown male. Pushed the measure, but a lovely type with good bone, super outline and high tailset, shown in good coat and condition. Well balanced masculine head with good eyes, ears of correct shape and set but slightly tall and would like pigment a bit stronger. Moves OK towards and displays a good side gait but hocks rather untidy when going away.

2nd: 4042 MOIR, Mrs J & MOIR Misses L & S Jansanleis Loud 'n' Proud

3y cream up to size. Slightly finer made than 1 but still enough substance and presents a good outline. Attractive masculine head with good eyes, ears of good shape and size but slightly wide set. Winter nose but eye rims and lip pigment still good. Enough neck, good body, topline, tailset, legs and feet. On the move he didn’t show quite the drive and forward reach of 1 but good coming towards, slightly close going away.

1st: 4046 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS Mr D Ch Longsdale's Willie Win JW

6y mature typey cream of good size and substance shown in full coat and excellent condition. Masculine head with the desired moderate stop, dark correct eyes, slightly tall but correctly set and shaped ears and excellent pigment. Good neck, topline and tailset and a really good body under that glamorous coat all make for the correct outline which is finished off with good legs and feet. Sound and positive on the move and gave a good account of himself but had to settle for the RCC today against his young kennel mate.

2nd: 4051 SERMAN Mrs C Printzagems Late Arrival For Tymy

3y black, good size, bone and outline though prone to standing himself a bit stretched at times. Masculine head, strong skull, good eyes, correct ear shape but a bit wide set. Slightly lacking in coat today but good to go over and well-made underneath it all and topped off with a correct topline & tailset and good legs and feet. Another nice mover but just not quite the enthusiasm of 1 today.

1st: 4036 ANDREW, Mrs C & ANDREW Miss K Claran Court Of Dreams

16m cream. Pretty feminine head, correctly-shaped dark eyes, good ears and excellent pigment. Good size, medium build with good length of neck, almost square body, level topline and correct tailset. On the move, she was a bit close going away but OK coming towards, and a good side gait when she wasn’t trying to get into the middle of the ring to say hello.

2nd: 4047 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS Mr D Longsdale's Sandra Dee

1yr heavily shaded cream sable with black mask. Strong wedge head yet still feminine and balanced, good eyes, ears OK for shape but slightly tall, excellent pigment. Good bone, size, proportions and shape with body developing nicely and completed by correct topline and tailset. Good sidegait and coming back but another that was slightly untidy moving away today.

Class 1685 PGB (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 4041 MELLOR Mrs J Nirvana Sunset at Bellapip

3y black and white parti. Another with a strong yet feminine head with correct dark eyes, well-shaped and set ears and a good expression. Good size and proportions with nice outline and tailset. OK for side gait and coming back but movement very close going away.

2nd: 4044 MOXON Mr J D & Mrs S V Chilite Cochina at Thirldene

2y cream and white parti. Feminine but more stop, skull and rounder eyes than preferred giving a rather Pommy head with wide set ears. Smaller and finer boned but OK for proportions, outline and tailset. Yet another who moved OK round the ring and coming back but was close and untidy going away – a bit of a common theme today.

1st: 4050 ROGERSON Miss L J Nosregor Girl Almighty

17m black. Really like her for type, outline and her very pretty balanced head with correct eyes and ears. Good for neck, size and proportions, topline and tailset and good angulation. Shown in nice bodily condition though coat not quite all there yet. Really good side gait and good coming back but another with untidy hock action when going away. Still time on her side to firm up so hope this comes.

Class 1687 OB (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: 4049 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS Mr D Ch Longsdale's Dilemma

3.5y black. Absolutely top class bitch with a beautiful feminine head and expression. Under that immaculately presented coat everything is just where it should be making her so good to go over. Enough neck, really well made body with good topline and excellent tailset, lovely proportions, bone, size and substance. Really good legs and feet with good slope to front pasterns and not too long in rear pasterns plus the correct angulation that allows her to show an excellent easy gait in all directions. CC & BOB and pleased to see her shortlisted in the group.

2nd: 4048 PEARCE, Mr G & FRANCIS Mr D Ch Longsdale Feel Free To Stare

5y cream. Another excellent bitch from this kennel who were certainly on form today. Stronger in skull though still maintains a feminine expression with good eyes, lovely pigment and ears that could be slightly smaller to advantage.

Another that’s really good to go over with good size and bone, shown in good body condition and profuse coat. Like her kennel mate, nicely angulated with good legs and feet plus excellent movement from all directions but just preferred the head on 1. RCC

3rd: 4038 BRADBURY Mrs G C Ch Wychlea Purple Image

At almost 16 months and in her underwear, giving away a lot in maturity against 1 & 2 today but nonetheless another quality bitch making up an excellent class.
