Leeds City & District Canine Association

Leeds Championship Dog Show 2018

Hound Group

Many thanks to the Officers & Committe of Leeds City & District Canine Association for such a well organised and enjoyable show.

I thoroughly enjoyed judging this excellent group of quality hounds and was certainly spoilt for choice.

I shortlisted :- PBGV, GBV, Beagle, Borzoi, Irish Wolfhound, Norwegian Elkhound, Saluki, Whippet.

Hound Group 1. Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit). Ch Soletrader Magic Mike.

Looking and performing even better than when I gave him Group 1 @ W.E.L.K.S

last year, can only reiterate what I said then, such a handsome head and expression,

so sound and well balanced, of ideal size, excellent angulation, well developed body, firm topline, well ribbed back with short strong loin, loved his exuberance and showmanship, such rapport with his handler, moved out with strong driving action.

Hound Group 2. Irish Wolfhound. Ch Sade Prudence.

Having recently given her BOB @ Windsor this impressive bitch had to be in the reckoning. Of excellent stature and athletic build, has the size & substance and yet retains her elegance and femininity. Lovely head and expression, carried proudly on lengthy strong neck, has a smooth flowing curvy outline, excellent construction and angulation, great depth and smooth underline, with good width through her hindquarters, moves out with such a free and easy stride.

Hound Group 3. Borzoi. Donskoi Tanets Volkami.

Quiet dignity about this high quality 6yr w/br of excellent breed type, well proportioned and balanced in outline, totally honest and sound in construction, handsome headpiece, well set neck, well constructed forehand & hindquarters, pleases in top and underline, easy effortless action. I understand he gained his 3rd CC today, I see from the catalogue that he is litter brother to my CC & BOB @ LKA 2015.

Hound Group 4. Whippet. Blue Springs Jivenchy.

Classic fawn of outstanding merit, has type and quality in abundance, balanced in outline with no exaggeration, has muscular power combined with elegance, sound and free in her action. I see from the catalogue that her dam is “Elekta” to whom I gave CC & BOB in 2013.
