National Working & Pastoral Breeds Society

Breed: Australian Shepherd

Thanks to everyone who had entered today. All dogs were clean and well presented. Both the Open classes gave me a headache of the good kind, with some lovely examples of this beautiful breed and I was sorry that some had to go unplaced. Long hocks were a concern, as this does not help with driving movement from behind. Temperaments were excellent and all coped well with the hot sun. Movement was in general good though some were a little untidy behind and there were some rolling toplines as well. Found a few that seemed to be short in the rib and consequently longer in the loin. A lot were out of coat but what they had was of good quality, though in some cases this was a deciding factor when placing.

Class 323 PD (2 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: FULLER’S Trijem Single Digit – well grown 9 month old black tri. Well proportioned head with flat skull. Neat, well set ears and correct obliquely set eyes. Moderate length of neck into well placed shoulders. Straight front, with moderate bone and good feet. Good depth of chest for age, topline good. Well muscled hindquarters with neat hocks. Moved well, though a little unsettled. Needs to mature on now which he will do, I am sure.

Class 324 JD (6 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: QUINN, DOUGLAS, & O'LEARY’s Talard Some Kinda Wonderful – 15 month red merle. Really liked this boy with his correctly proportioned head, neat ears and another with correct shaped obliquely set eyes. Good length of neck into well placed shoulders and straight front with moderate bone. Level topline, which he held on the move, good depth of chest, well sprung ribs and short strong loin. Well muscled hindquarters. Beautifully presented. Moved out with moderate stride. Shall watch his progress with interest.

2nd: DOUGLAS & DOUGLAS’ s Talard Lethal Weapon Jun Ch – black tri litter brother to first and similar in many ways. He has a slightly rounder eye and a deeper stop than one for me but I’m sure they will swap places many times. Well laid shoulders into straight front with good feet. Level topline and slightly sloping croup. Well muscled hindquarters and good easy movement around the ring. Excellent presentation and handling.

3rd: DAVIES Ninja Iskander Warrior Du Reverse Du Revede Shaniz

Class 326 PGD (2 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: VIRGO’s Aoiristar Supernova (Ikc). Sh.CM - Black tri of good proportions. Pleasing head and expression. Has a moderate reach of neck, topline is level but he rolls a bit on the move. Could do with losing a few pounds to enhance his overall shape as he looks a bit stuffy. Moved well, using his hindquarters effectively. Coat well presented but could do with tidying up to show a better outline.

2nd: MILLIGAN & MARLEY’s Jotars Lies and Deceit with Alfsden – striking blue merle with a pleasing head of good proportions with neat ears and well placed eye of correct shape. For me, I found him a little short in neck and not quite the lay of shoulder as first. Straight front with moderate, oval bone. Level topline with broad strong loin. Well presented coat. Would like slightly more hind angulation as at times when standing he looks straight behind. Moves well, but lacked drive today.

Class 327 LD (3 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: SUCH’s Soloyal Valentino – well presented 2 year old black tri. Gleaming condition. Pleasing head and expression, with neat well placed ears and good eye shape. Still think there is more to come there though. Moderate length of neck in to good, clean shoulders. Moderate, oval bone and good feet. Level topline, broad, flat croup. Well muscled hindquarters. Moved well, though a slight roll to topline and could be firmer in front.

2nd: TURNER’s Harmonyhills Ticket To Ryde to Chakona Sh.CM (Imp) – good sized blue merle, of correct proportions. Moderate neck, good depth of chest with good spring of ribs. Firm topline, and well angled and muscular quarters. Moved soundly in all directions, if a bit close behind. Coat of good texture and colour.

3rd: 982 APPERLEY Ms M Armatan Thunderbolt at Nanaimo JW Sh.CM

Class 328 OD (10 Entries) Abs: 1

Lovely class with some good dogs going unplaced.

1st: KNOTT’s Lyveden Texas Ranger – this blue merle dog caught my eye on first run round. Totally masculine but without exaggeration. Loved his head with a moderate well defined stop, lovely ear set and obliquely set eye with a calm expression. Moderate length of neck into well laid shoulders. Straight front with correct oval, moderate bone. Correct height to length ratios, with a strong level topline, which he held on the move. Strong hindquarters with well let down hocks. Moves so soundly and looks like he could go on all day, with a free and easy stride. Well handled and presented to take his 2nd CC. Hope the third is not too far away.

2nd: 985 BIRKETT, HARLOW, & MCDOWELL’s Rus Ch Fraytal Up To The Top (Imp) – lovely red merle who looks good when standing presenting a correct profile. Lovely head, with moderate stop, well placed ears and good eye. Moderate, clean neck into good shoulders. Well laid shoulders and good front. Correct body proportions, with broad flat croup and short strong loin. In good condition with well presented coat. Easy mover with a good length of stride to cover the ground but today his topline was rolling and this was the deciding factor in the challenge for the RCC.

3rd: BRIDGES Ch Liskarn No Secret We Love You

Class 329 VD (4 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: SIMMONS’ Ch Allmark Licence To Thrill – lovely class of veteran males. This black tri dog looks the best I have seen him, which I think goes to prove what a slow maturing breed this is. Masculine head with slight stop, well set ears. Moderate neck length into good shoulders and moderately boned front. Strong level topline and well muscled hindquarters. Free, easy movement covering the ground well, looks like he could do a day’s work. Was pleased to award him RCC and Best Veteran.

2nd: 982 APPERLEY’s Armatan Thunderbolt at Nanaimo JW Sh.CM – almost 8 year old red tri. Smaller build than one but in proportion. In excellent condition. Pleasing head and expression, good length of neck. Firm, level topline which he really held on the move, correct height to length ratios. Well handled and presented.

3rd: 1014 KNOTT’s Lyveden Rairock Rebel JW

Class 331 PB (4 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: 981 ALLAN & BRIDGES’ Allmark Black Sheep – could really have done with a Minor Puppy class today as the other 3 entries were all just 6 months old. Very mature for 9 months. Strong head but feminine with a pleasing, alert expression. Moderate length of neck which she shows off to advantage. Pleasing front and good feet. Side profile holding her topline well on the move. Has a lovely well presented coat. Her handler gets the very best out of her. Movement is good but needs to tighten behind, which I am sure will come with age. Personally would like to see her come up a little more in height to balance but she has time on her side. BPIB.

2nd: BOTHWELL’s Dialynne Sophia Loren – 7 month old red tri who looked the most mature of the other puppies. Liked her overall shape, pretty head with slight stop, neat ears and well shaped eye. Front is good and she has a level, firm topline which she holds well on the move. Good body proportions. Her angulation is good and once she has a bit more ring training, she will be more settled. Steady mover.

3rd: ARNALL’s Allmark Ice Ice Baby

Class 332 JB (3 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: DOUGLAS & DOUGLAS’s Talard Basic Instinct Jun Ch – black tri litter sister to 1st and 2nd in Junior Dog. Taller bitch than 2nd but all in proportion. Pleasing head, which will finish well with maturity, slight stop and flat skull. Good reach of neck and well laid shoulders. Straight front with moderate oval bone. Firm, level topline, with good side profile. Strong hindquarters which she used well to move round the ring. Free, easy action on the move, flowing over the ground and looked like she could go all day.

2nd: 1024 SUCH’s Soloyal Secret Romance – smaller red tri bitch of good proportions. Pleasing head and alert expression, moderate length of neck, good front. Level topline and strong, slightly sloping croup. Good width to hindquarters. Moved well but for me couldn’t match the easy movement of first.

Class 333 GB (5 Entries) Abs: 0

1st: FULLER & HOLLIGAN’s Silvarcea The Perfect Storm – 16 month old blue merle girl. Loved her overall shape and appealed for type. Feminine head of good proportions with well set ears and a good shaped eye. Moderate length of neck into good shoulders and forechest. Well boned front with slightly sloping pasterns. Firm, level topline and strong well muscled hindquarters. Moved well. Lovely presentation and handling. Close up for the RCC.

2nd: SCANLAN’s Allmark Fairy Tales Of Franmar – slightly smaller black tri. Pretty head and attentive expression. Length of neck OK into reasonable shoulders. Good front, level topline which she held on the move. Good overall angulation. Moved and showed well.

3rd: SUCH’s Soloyal Secret Romance

Class 334 PGB (5 Entries) Abs: 2

1st: CRAWFORD & MCDONALD’s Mistyholly More Magic For Louiston – impressed with this young lady who was handled to get the very best out of her. Pretty expression, enhanced by a lovely obliquely set eye. Perhaps could do with a little more fill under the eye to complete the picture but at 2 years old, still has plenty of maturing to do. Beautifully presented blue merle coat. Moderate length of neck which she uses well. Good front. Level topline which remained firm on the move. Strong hindquarters. Was pleased to award her the RCC.

2nd: SCANLAN’s Allmark Fairy Tales Of Franmar

3rd: SUCH’s Soloyal Secret Romance

Moderate bone all through. Straight front. Firm level topline which she held on the move. Strong, powerful hindquarters which enabled her to move freely and actively around the ring.

2nd: COUSINS’s Love In A Mist Of Fender Song For Moortime (Imp) JW, ShCM – lovely blue merle. Has a lovely well balanced head of correct proportions, good stop, beautiful shape of eye, neat well used ears, with excellent placement. Straight front with good shoulders. Level firm topline which she held on the move. Moved well around the ring. Two lovely bitches.

3rd: FORT Miss J M Saussurea Grand Entrance By Shulune (Imp)

Class 336 OB (7 Entries) Abs: 1

1st: COLLINS & UDEN Ch Allmark Razzle Dazzle Em At Jazdaze – love this blue merle girl. Good head and expression with correct proportions. Well set ears and dark eye. Moderate length of neck into well laid shoulders, straight front and good fee. Height to length ratios are good with a firm level topline. Strong hindquarters, which are well muscled. Moves efficiently around the ring looking like she could do the same all day. Was pleased to award her CC and BOB.

Lovely feminine head of good proportions, well shaped eye and neat ears.
