Birmingham Dog Show Society Ltd

Breed: Border Collie

My thanks for this opportunity to judge my favourite breed at cc level. I found several overweight exhibits and many lacking muscle tone. Although all mouths had a scissor bite, I was shocked at how small the teeth were on many!

I was looking for a dog who could work all day, and so colour and coat were not important. The typical gait was missing on some.

Class 2647 MPD  2 entries  0 abs

1st; 8945 DUNLIN  Miss J & C  Thwaitlake Magical Dreams For Jachelm

Beat 2 on tighter elbows and more muscle tone. This led to more positive movement behind. Promising puppy. Not the ear carriage of 2,  but much more workmanlike in type.

2nd; 9028 SHAHMATOVA Dr M  Nashdom Putting On The Style

Lovely head and presentation on this baby. Good expressive ears. Very much a baby with plenty of time on his side.

Class 2648 PD  2 entries 0 abs

1st; 9022 RATCLIFFE Miss J  Arrodare Hear It For The Boy  BP

Moved very well, dropping into a classic shape with drive and minimum lift. Good head, bone and feet. Most mature of the puppies here today.

Tricolour. Not as tidy in movement as first, but well made. Needs muscle to complete.
