AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERDS 

My  thanks go to the committee of W&PB of Scotland for their invitation to judge Australian Shepherds. Thank you to all those who entered and for accepting my decisions so sportingly. All the dogs were presented in good condition, some more out of coat than others and some carrying a bit too much weight. I was pleased with my winners. 

Puppy Dog/Bitch - (2-0) 1. Bothwell's Dialynne Sophia Loren of Norcis. - 10 month old red merle bitch, growing nicely. Moderate throughout. Of moderate bone & well balanced. Feminine head with alert expression. Flat skull with well defined stop. Complete scissor bite. Correct ear set which she used to her advantage when stood in profile. Good angulation front & rear. Strong level  topline which she held on the move. Moved out well and at the correct speed. BP 

2.Gall's Benreeda Dingo Dollar. - A big boy for just 8 months old. Heavy built. Looked balanced in profile. Masculine head with correct skull to muzzle ratio, Moderate stop. Clean neck of moderate length fitting well into shoulders. Good spring of rib and level topline. Good angulation front & rear. Shown in full jacket of correct texture. Moved ok for his age just needs to tighten up. 

Junior Dog/Bitch - (1-0) 1. Bothwell's Dialynne Sophia Loren of Norcis - Critique as Puppy Dog/Bitch  

Open Dog - (7-1) 1. Routledge's CH Scallywag the Highlander with Allmark. - 5 year old blue merle dog that screamed breed type. Moderate throughout with no exaggeration. Lovely outline. Correct head planes, muzzle slightly shorter than skull with moderate stop. Almond shaped eyes in tight rims. Moderate sized ears set high on head. Forearms straight from all sides with moderate bone. Body slightly longer than tall, good spring of rib & well muscled loin. Strong & firm level topline which he held on the move. Moderately sloping croup with correct tail set. Shown in super condition with excellent coat texture. This boy really enjoyed himself in the ring. He moved effortlessly round the ring and his tail never stopped wagging. BD 

2.Bell & Newlands' Triforce Black Diamond. - 3 year old black tri dog. Loved this dogs head which was correctly proportioned, moderate stop. High set ears which he used to his advantage. Moderate length of neck, slightly arched which fit into well laid back shoulders. Deep chest of moderate width. Elbow tight to brisket. Strong let down hocks and nice tight feet. Moved out straight and true with firm level topline. Handler got the best out of this dog.RBD 

3. McTaggart's Jack to a King des Terres de Khairyaca (Imp)  

Open Bitch - (13-6) 1. Crawford & McDonald's Mistyholly More Magic for Louiston - 2 year old blue merle bitch. A bitch that catches your eye as she enters the ring. Looks a picture in outline. Lovely feminine head with keen alert expression. Head clean cut, well defined stop. Ears of moderate size set high on head. Super length of neck, strong & slightly arched. Shoulders well laid back. Moderate angulation  front & rear. Forearms straight of moderate oval bone. Tight compact feet. Coat of medium length and correct texture. Moved round the ring with drive & determination, smooth free and easy gait. Looked like she could work all day. BB BOB - so pleased to see her go Group 4. Well Done. 

2. Jones, Gibbons & Blyton's Mangry's Need for Speed with Wispafete JW ShCM IR J CH CJW'17 (Imp) - 2 year old black tri bitch. Another lovely bitch that challenged hard for 1st place.  Everything in moderation with this bitch, nothing overdone. Beautiful feminine head, in proportion to body. Expressive almond shaped eyes of rich colour. Moderate ears with correct set. Clean neck of moderate length. Slightly longer than tall. Good deep chest of moderate width. Ribs well sprung and carried well back. Hindquarters equal to forequarters. Well turned stifles with hocks well let down.  This bitch has wonderful movement, such a free and easy stride - nothing is exaggerated. Moderate in every way. Handled extremely well.RBB
