I wish to thank the WKC for inviting and giving me the opportunity to judge setters that I breed with my husband, the Gordon Setter. I have actively followed the breed in the UK for excess of 25 years and feel that the overall quality is now high producing dogs with good fronts and sound movement. I penalised the weak top lines, especially in movement, and the dogs with lack of confidence. My choice for the top awards went to two young dogs and both the best dog and bitch puppies were of the highest quality. This is a good prospect for the breed. The veterans were sound and in good condition, this is another good point for the long-term health of the breed. Thank you for bringing your dogs.

Impressive high-quality dog showing balance and very good proportions. Excellent top line both standing and on the move. In top condition, moves well but would prefer a bit more forechest. RCC

MINOR PUPPY DOG 2(0abs)

1.    ALCORN MR D, CROWTHER MR D, MACARA MR MRS A & J LOURDACE HEADHUNTED BY CROMASAIG

Nice balanced puppy but I would prefer a more rounded skull. Strong top line and very good forechest. Excellent hind movement but a bit short and straight in upper arm but with good reach.

2.    DANKS-KEMISH MISS O & MRS R & KEMISH MR S KILNRAE BOX EDITION OF ALOLFRANA

Nice puppy with a lovely head and expression, excellent neck and shoulder but the top line needs to settle in movement. Front and back movement a bit narrow but good reach and drive, needs time.

I preferred the winner for the head, longer in upper arm and stronger in body.

Nice young male with perfect colour. Excellent head and expression, strong neck and very good shoulder. Balanced standing and in movement but I would prefer more bone and more arched toes, being a little flat footed.

2.    HARKER MR A J & MRS D A HERNWOOD ACHILLES AT ETTRICK

Similar type to the first nice young male both being litter mates. Another with excellent head, neck and lay of shoulder. Very good top line and has good movement. Less bone then first and feet are flatter.

 Correct shaped dog with nice head and expression. Excels in neck and shoulder and shows correct movement although top line a bit low in front during movement.

Nice balanced strong male, elegant with a lot of quality. Pleasing head and expression, excellent forechest. Perfect movement coming and going excelling in reach and drive. Strong top line on move and very good colour. To be critical I would prefer more length of legs. Very pleased to award him his first CC together with BOB.

2.    SANDIFORD MR & MRS P & C A HERNWOOD STORM RIDER

Elegant male with excellent body proportions but I would prefer stronger muzzle and more stop. Very good top line standing but a bit low in front when moving however he moved soundly with very good reach and drive.

Elegant male with an excellent head and expression. Strong neck and very good shoulders. I would prefer more forechest, held his top line standing and when moving but moves close behind.

2.    BUTLER MR & Mrs K D & C E YENNADON LOCHAN AT RUBYMOON JW ShCM

Strongly made balanced male with nice head and expression. Good neck but a bit short in shoulder thus a bit stiff in front movement. Excellent top line and croup and powerful hindquarters resulting in good drive from rear.

Excellent bitch puppy showing balance and femininity with super head and expression. Strong level top line and very good croup, super neck into shoulders. Excellent movement with very good reach and drive. Close up for the top awards, very pleased to give her BEST PUPPY.

Another nice feminine bitch with excellent head and expression. Very good top line standing but in movement still a bit weak and a bit wide in front when she moves but shows good reach and drive.
