Darlington Dog Show Society Ltd

Breed: TOY GROUP

My thanks to the committee of Darlington for the invitation to judge what was my 17th Toy Group, at this well run and friendly Northern show. I have been ringside at a few Toy groups this year and worried at the quality of some of the BOBs sent through but this group had the quality that we have been used to over many years, so many thanks to the breed judges.

POMERANIAN

Dog

Exhibiting all of the qualities that appear in the general appearance of this breed’s Standard. Compact, short coupled, lively & extrovert. A perfect shape and size with well balanced head, dark expressive eyes, small ears, short well set on neck. Fine boned legs not weedy but certainly not thick and heavy, lovely short back good ribs, deep chest. Small tight feet, good tail set, in good coat of correct texture.Very sound all through with great temperament. Should see more of him in groups in the future.

PUG

Dog

Another dog that the Standard could be written about, so square and cobby but not carrying excess weight, very well muscled and firm. Large round head with good pigment, dark lustrous eyes full of life, small fine ears. Very strong front, with great spring of rib and broad chest, level topline which he never lost on the move. Moved as a correctly made Pug should do with parallel movement behind, if you do not understand Pug movement this is one to watch.

MALTESE

Dog

This is an exhibitor to watch for presentation as everyone of her dogs are always bandbox smart. Underneath that pure white coat of straight silky texture there is  a well balanced body with spring of rib, level back and enough bone for size.  Well proportioned head with dark expressive eyes, good pigment. Straight true mover with that extra bit of temperament that a  true show dog has.

HAVANESE

Bitch

A very typical example of the breed, small, sturdy with correct balance of length to height. Well balanced head with good pigment, good ear set.  Straight front which gave the correct springy movement. Good spring of ribs, level topline with a slight rise, not over angulated behind. Feminine without losing any breed quality.
