Welsh Springer Spaniels

Thank you to the exhibitors for your entries and for allowing me to judge your dogs and to the committee for the invitation and warm welcome to the show. SKC was the first show at which I showed my first WSS at in 1981.

Puppy: 1(0) 1st Thirlwells Ferndel Fooling Star: 7 months old bitch puppy. Alone but a worthy winner, sweetest of heads, very pretty and well balanced with lovely chiselling to the foreface, dark eye with soft expression. Well boned for age, good length of neck leading into good lay of shoulder and return of upper arm. Balanced in body, which is still developing, short coupled, moved steadily showing a nice topline and tailset. Coped well with the noisy adjacent ring. Best Puppy in Breed and delighted to see she went Gundog Puppy Group 4, well done

 Post Graduate: 7(4): 1st Dods & Caffreys Slapestones Summer Tide At Balcraig: 3 year old bitch with a lovely personality, feminine correctly balanced head, mischievous expression, good neck and shoulders, well ribbed with good depth. Moved soundly, straight in front, good width to hindquarters, well boned. Reserve Best Bitch.

2nd Mole & Knox’s Tammono Crawhall At Edincraw: 4 and a half year old bitch , ,sweet feminine head, kind eye and expression, balanced in outline, good depth of rib, short coupled , straight in front , moved steadily around the ring maintaining her topline. Well presented, shown and handled well, in good muscular condition

3rd Dyers Islanza Royale Among Tylwyth

Open Dog :2(1): 1st Groots NL/CIE Ch Isfryn On The Spot: 2 and a half year old dog, all male from head to toe, happy outgoing disposition, masculine well balanced head with a lovely soft expression, good muscular length of neck, super well sprung ribs with good depth of brisket, short muscular loin. Moved well demonstrating moderate angulation. Shown in full coat and lovely condition. Best Dog

Open Bitch: 5(1): 1st Millards Ferndel Islay Mist At Rubylea: 2 and a half year old bitch, sweet well balanced head of correct proportions with a soft gentle expression. So well balanced in profile, compact, well boned with super neck and shoulders and return of upper arm. Good spring to ribs, moved around the ring happily and effortlessly with good front and rear angulation. Out of coat, however, this demonstrated her correct construction, Best Bitch and Best of Breed

2nd: Dyers Benton Small Talk Among Tylwyth (Imp Finland) Different type to 1st, pretty head and expression, dark kind eye, well boned, balanced, good length of neck and correct slope of shoulder, well ribbed. Moved steadily with moderate angulation. Held topline on the move but tended to fall away when stacked today.

3rd Caffrey & Dods Gellyburn Gaelic Damsel At Balcraig. 7 year old , Best Veteran in Breed
