Darlington Dog Show Society Ltd

Breed: Hungarian Vizsla

I would like to thank the committee for their welcome and hospitality and also my two very efficient stewards. This was my second time awarding CC’s in the breed, the previous time being 5 years ago. Unfortunately heads have not improved with a lot of broad skulls, too much “cheek” and flew. Front movement is also a problem with a lot of wide fronts. However, I was pleased with the overall size of the exhibits, and the quality of my principal winners.

DOGS

Veteran – No Entries

Minor Puppy - 3

1st – Layton – Layways Noah’s Mill

What a start to the day! This 8 month old is already showing a lot of promise. Loved his masculine head and gentle expression. Strong neck flowing in to well laid shoulders. Excellent body proportions with plenty of substance. Well angulated rear which he used to his advantage. One of the best movers here today and pushed very hard for top honours but lost out on overall maturity. I am sure he will have a very promising future. RCC and BP

2nd – Savidge – Silvestre Fortune N’Glory

Just 6 months old, I loved his size and type. Masculine head and kind eye, would prefer a little less flew. Well laid shoulders and length of back. Correct angulation front and rear. Needs to drop in brisket but this will come with maturity. Moved very steady for a baby with a lot of enthusiasm.

3rd – Rollings & Verity – Vizslanya Szellem Es Sors

Puppy – No Entries

Junior – 1

1st – Cameron, Gartland & Milicevic – Andronja’s Nine Carat for Kasprowy

13 months, well-muscled medium sized boy. A little stronger in head than I prefer having a broader skull. Needs to fill out in forechest but has time on his side as he is well boned with a good length to height ratio.

Yearling – 1

1st – Armstrong – Shelseivad Be My Valentine

Correctly sized, well boned nearly 2 years old. Another with a masculine head but again, would prefer less flew. Lovely length of neck with good front and rear angulation. Mature body with good ribbing. Shown in a fit hard condition with good profile movement.

Post Graduate – 5

A difficult class and I’m sure they will change places on another day.

1st – Spencer – Nevedith Strictly Bruno

Going through the “in between” stage at the moment, this 22 month won on his positive movement. He has a lovely masculine head with good reach of neck. Tight front with excellent length of back and rear angulation. Just needs to body up all over to complete the picture.

2nd – Munro – Wolfmeyer Glen Cannick

This 2 year old presented a very pleasing picture when stacked having a masculine head with good length of neck, leading into well angulated front. Correct height to length proportions and rear angulation. A little paler in colour than the winner, having a good coat texture. Moved well in profile but preferred the front movement of the winner.

3rd – Thomas – Galliant Gilvoy

Limit – 4

1st – Mills – Karrouki Windfire JW

Mature well-muscled boy presenting a pleasing picture. Lovely masculine head with a good length of neck leading into a well angulated front with a well-developed forechest. Correct depth of brisket and length of back with well angulated rear. Moved well with enthusiasm holding his topline.

2nd – Bergin – Flushpoint Frater of Roughshoot

Close decision here and pushed 1st very hard. I liked this boy for his size and type although a little paler in colour than 1st and having a little more flew than I prefer, he presented a very pleasing picture having a well-developed forechest and depth of brisket. Good length of back and correct rear angulation. Moved very steadily - I just wish his handler would move him a little quicker to get the best out of him.

3rd – Green & Bradley – Vizslanya Vador by Viszaset

Open – 5 (1abs)

1st – Hardy & Hallam – Sh Ch Bitcon Sirocco at Tokaji JW (ai)

My notes say “what a powerhouse of a dog”. This well-muscled mature boy presenting a picture of power and stamina. I liked him for his overall size and confirmation. He has a masculine head with a kind eye, to be critical, I would prefer slightly less flew. Well-muscled neck leading into well laid shoulders with a well-developed forechest and depth of brisket. Correct length of back and spring of rib. Well angulated and muscled rear which he used to power around the ring. Was delighted to award him the CC.

2nd – Dasilva – Bournehouse Crispin

On entering the ring, I thought this boy would be my winner. Loved him for his size and type and very unlucky to come up against the winner. Slightly paler in colour with a good coat texture, he has a masculine head with the correct flew I was looking for. Good forechest with prominent chest bone, excellent length of neck with correct height to length ratio. Well angulated front and rear, moving with reach and drive holding his topline.

3rd – Savage – Karaszy’s Falco Peregrinus at Silvestre

Bitches

Veteran – 2

1st – Knight – Alsziv Maine with Szolnoki ShCM

This girl was not showing her 7 years of age at all. Lovely feminine head with kind expression. Excellent length of neck and back. Well-muscled and presenting a balanced picture, could not fault her on the move having an excellent stride holding her topline. Best Veteran

2nd – Price – Sh Ch Aldom Cristal

11 years old but could still show the youngsters how to do it. Although her face is now white, it still has a noble look with the correct amount of flew. Good length of neck leading in to well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket and forechest. Correct length of back with a well angulated rear. Shown in a fit condition, I can appreciate why she is a Sh Ch.

Minor Puppy – 3 (1abs)

1st – Green & Bradley – Vizslanya Sziena by Viszaset

This 7 month old won this class on her positive movement. She has a feminine head with the correct amount of flew, and already has a lovely dark eye. A little finer in bone, I liked her height to length ratio. She is very much a baby needing to develop in the forechest and drop in brisket which I am sure will come with maturity. She moved on a positive stride showing reach and drive.

2nd – Bergin – Dallandor Apple of Roughshoot

Different type to the winner, having more bone and substance. Although only 7 months old, she already has well developed forechest. Slightly paler in colour, she has a feminine head but would prefer slightly less flew. I liked her body proportions with moderate angulation front and rear. Unfortunantely she lost out to the winner on her movement or should I say lack of as she was reluctant to get in to a stride.

Puppy – 2

1st – Butler – Silvestre The Red Woman

Mature well up to size, 11 month old presenting a balanced picture. Lovely feminine head with a kind expression. Strong neck leading in to well angulated forequarters. Well-developed forechest and depth of brisket with correct length of back. Correct rear angulation which she used on the move holding her topline and one of the few carrying her tail level with her back. Unlucky to meet the Minor Puppy dog in the challenge for BP. Will watch her career with interest.

2nd – Green & Bradley – Vizslanya Sziena by Viszaset

(Repeat of 1st Minor Puppy).

Junior – 2

1st – Watson – Oakswarren Everglow (ai)

Moderate 15 month old with nothing overdone. Liked her size and type having a feminine head with gentle expression. Well-developed forechest and depth of brisket with well laid shoulders. Correct length of back with moderate rear angulation presenting a balanced picture. Moved on a ground covering stride. Should have a promising future.

2nd – Bain – Dunnydals Hajna Is Gracious

Taller 12 month old with a well-developed body. Feminine head although eye colour still needs darken. Well-developed forechest with moderate front and rear angulation. Moved well although rather proud of her tail.

Yearling – 4

1st – Watson – Oakswarren Eclipse (ai)

Litter sister to the Junior winner and similar comments apply. Although this 15 month old is slightly taller than her sister, she is also more mature at this stage in her body. She has an excellent stride, moving with reach and drive and holding her tail well. Pushed hard for top honours – her time will come. RCC

2nd – Challis – Vizslayna Eritrea

Mature girl, rising 2 years old and pushed the winner hard. She too has a feminine head with a kind expression. Good reach of neck into well laid shoulders. Good depth of brisket and well-developed forechest. Correct length of back with well angulated rear. Moved enthusiastically on a ground covering stride but preferred the tail carriage of the winner.

3rd – Davies & Davies – Shelseivad Love Potion (ai)

Post Graduate – 3 (2abs)

1st – Upton – Nevedith Ring ’O’ Fire at Temeraire

My notes say “what a lovely sound bitch”. At 3 years old she is starting to reach full maturity. One of the few with the head that I was looking for with the most appealing expression. Correct size and not overdone in anyway. Correct forechest with prominent chest bone, moderate front and rear angulation with correct depth of brisket and height to length ratio. Although she moved OK, Just wished it was with more sparkle and umph.

Limit – 7 (1abs)

Some lovely bitches in this class which made for some hair splitting decisions.

1st – Aynsley – Recuerdo Monika of Caorunn

3 year old mature bitch presenting a balanced picture both standing and on the move. Plenty of bone and substance, with a good length of neck leading in to well laid shoulders. Good length of back and well angulated rear. Would prefer slightly more forechest to complete the picture. Covered the ground on an easy stride holding her tail well.

2nd – Bradley & Green – Highforce One Vision

This girl gave her handler a hard time! Shame she just wouldn’t stand still. Feminine bitch presenting a balanced picture. Not overdone in anyway, she is a lovely size and type having excellent body proportions with the correct amount of forechest and depth of brisket. Good spring of rib and length to height and ratio. Well angulated rear which she used to her advantage.

3rd – Dasilva & Sexton – Ertekes Lucky In Love

Open – 6

Another class with some quality exhibits making for some difficult decisions

1st – Layton – Sh Ch Layways Lana Del Ray

Mature and in her prime, this bitch has everything I was looking for. The most pleasing of heads with a kind eye. Good reach of neck leading in to well laid shoulders. Excellent length of back with spring of rib. Brisket down to elbow, and well turned stifle. Shown in hard condition and this showed on the move where she covered the ground effortlessly. Was delighted to award her the CC and BOB

2nd – Bradley & Green – Sh Ch Vizslanya Vivmany by Highforce JW ShCM

Unlucky to meet 1st, this girl has a lot to like. Another moderate bitch shown in top condition and presenting a very pleasing picture. She has a feminine head with strong neck. Well angulated forequarters with prominent chest bone. Good depth of brisket and length of back with well angulated rear and correct tail set. Moved with reach and drive.
