Breed: Spaniel (Field)

Gundog Society of Wales Championship Show

31st October 2018

Judge – Mrs Jane Eyeington (Meadowdale)

I would like to thank the committee for the kind invitation to judge at this lovely show. We were blessed with glorious weather for the time of year and able to show outside. A huge thank you to the exhibitors who braved the weekday traffic, I was delighted with the dogs I had the pleasure of judging

Field Spaniels

Such a shame there were so many absentees

Limit Dog (1,0)

1. Mrs Gallen - Woodsong Lexington (Imp Fra)

Cracking 3 year old dog, he has such a presence about him, confident and outgoing, letting his personality shine through. He has plenty to admire, with good bone and substance all through. His head is so masculine, with lovely chiselling, and length to the foreface, dark almond shaped eye to give the look of nobility. His long and strong neck flowing seamlessly into a firm topline. Well developed forechest and depth to the ribcage. correctly angulated and muscled hindquarters. Moving with the typical long unhurried stride. Well presented and shown – BD & BOB

Puppy Bitch (1,0)

1. Ms Bowley - Valdine Field Of Dreams

Fun loving 8 month old bitch. She is very raw as you would expect but has a pleasing outline when stood. Having the overall balance, she is developing along the right lines. Head still to break, showing good proportions, and chiselling and eye starting to darken. A good length of neck flowing well into her firm topline. She has enough depth and spring to the ribs and nicely boned limbs. Moving out well if a little bouncy at times – BP & RBB

Junior Bitch (1,0)

1. Ms Bowley - Valdine Field Of Dreams

Repeat Puppy bitch

Limit Bitch (1,0)

1. C Smith - Ewtor Affinity For Flyenpyg JW ShCM

Lovely 3 year old bitch, very elegant and feminine yet having substance and strength. She has quality in abundance and so nice to go over. Liked her overall balance and construction. Most feminine of heads, being nicely proportioned, well chiselled, with a dark kind eye. She has good development through the ribcage, showing a good spring. Well boned limbs and tight feet. Her hindquarters have good width of thigh and muscle tone. Moving out true, today not quite as firm in topline as the dog, but close up in the challenge – BB & RBOB
