Thank you to Border Union Agricultural Society for the opportunity to judge at this well-run show and for looking after me so well.

Absolutely delighted by my entry both numerically and in quality and for that my sincere thanks to exhibitors for trusting me with their ridgebacks making this a day to remember.

I apologise if it seemed to run on but all exhibits deserved consideration and in many classes I found hard decisions. Both dog and bitch line ups made me proud to be part of this unique and upstanding breed.

Glad to see livernose represented and of good quality.

1 OZUBI'S PILGRIM AT KONDWANI (MR J, MRS G & MISS C MULLIGAN) Baby of the class but exudes quality. Good size. Although head still to develop shows lots of promise. Lovely neck into good shoulders and front assembly. Balance for age. Movement was generally as you’d expect at that age but when he did settle I was impressed. 2 DELLARED NATURAL MYSTIC (MRS J L & MR J MURRAY) Different stamp from1. and other end of the age bracket for this class. Although this has the advantage of maturity it can also mean they hit the awkward junior stage. This eleven-month boy had super bone, with good reach of neck, very good front and forechest. Lovely angulation. Move well for a youngster. 3 PRIORPARK JABARI FOR NZURI (MISS S & MRS L MILLS)

1 JIMANNS THE DOCTOR (MR & MRS A WHITESIDE) Overall balanced outline and a nice size. Well proportioned, with good body length to angulation ratio. Lovely shoulder and length/return of upper arm. A youngster and still to settle when moving but good prospects. 2 DELLARED SATISFY MY SOUL (MRS J L & MR J MURRAY) Larger stamp than 1. And will take longer to mature. Super, strong bone with balance fore and hind angulation. Now needs to relax topline. Movement good, 3 MATSUSHONA FIRE OPAL (MR L & MRS CL HALL)

1 SAADANI SHOW OFF (MR C & MRS C MUIR) Pleasing head, strong, level topline held well on the move. Good depth of brisket. Long easy profile movement. Balanced angulation. 2 JENGACHENGA DEN OF LIONS (MRS K LOWSON) Good type and size, moving well in profile. Still to finish maturing and firm up.

Limit - Dog Entries: 8 Absentees: 1 Really good class with some top dogs today. Difficult choice between my first two placed, quality dogs.

1 HESSLEWELL HEARTTHROB JW/SHCM (MRS A & MR B DAVIS) Fits the standard for me. Not exaggerated in anyway. Not immediately one the eye is drawn to but when you do run your eye over him everything flows beautifully. Loved his head planes and expression, with no coarseness. Moved footfall perfect, true both ways with a deceptive ground covering, economic profile movement essential to a hound expected to hunt all day. Sympathetically handled. RCC 2 KIROMOL KINDRED SPIRIT SHCM (MR R & MISS L WILDING & DEACON) A dog that does immediately catch the eye. Handsome and upstanding. Fabulous balance of body length to angulation. Firm, steady topline, really good spring to his pasterns given sound effortless movement. Well handled. Another top contender. 3 AZALI JAMAA AZIZI TIBERIUS (IMP DEU) SHCM (MR G & MRS J MCKINLAY)

1 HESPA HERMES JW (MRS G J & MR G GREEVES) Best mover today at the front of an excellent class. Fully mature stallion hound with super temperament. No exaggeration, beautifully balanced angulation and length. Strong bone down to correct spring of pasterns and good feet. So very sound moving footfall perfect today from every direction. Sympathetically handled. DCC & BOB. 2 SOFALA JOE THE LION ( MRS G J LITTLE) Head of excellent type with fabulous reach of neck. Lovely lay of shoulder and well angled rear end. Very good depth of brisket and well ribbed back. Moved with long easy profile gait. Seriously considered for top honours but lost enthusiasm on the move. 3 FAAHAC FREE N'EASY JW SHCM (MR H & MRS C L CATHARELL)

Veteran – Dog One of the best moving classes and full of quality. Entries: 5 Absentees: 0

1 ZOUGANI ZURI SHCM (MR J, MRS G & MISS C MULLIGAN) Handsome, youthful looking veteran who fills the eye. No exaggeration, with lovely balance, good angulation and lovely spring of pastern which produce one of the best ground covering profile strides I’ve ever seen. All held together with a firm topline. 2..CH KIROMOL KUBWA MNO JW SHCM (MRS L PIEHL) Always loved this boy. Thought he may be beginning to show his age until you see his profile movement. So much scope and power, his handler getting the best out of him today. 3 RUFUS ON THE LAWN OF MATIKIRIDGE SHCM (MRS N & MR M HURN)

Puppy – Bitch This has got to be my favourite class of the day. What super babies. The age range made it challenging. Younger puppies can either look immature or balanced. The older ones either mature or hit that leggy unbalanced “junior” stage. I tried to give fair consideration to all. Entries: 12 Absentees: 2

1 WALAMADENGIE COCO CHANELLE (MR G & MRS J CUNNINGHAM) Was not really going to be beaten today. Super, mature youngster with beautiful, balanced outline, well angulated with firmest of toplines. Moved really well if a bit enthusiastic at times. On the ball and attentive. BP. Delighted to watch her go a well-deserved PHG 1. 2 DIAMONDRIDGE ROLL THE DICE FOR ROYALRIDGE (MR R & MISS A CATLEY & MCGIMPSEY) Going to take a while longer to mature than 1. But showing so much promise. Very pretty expression with excellent head and reach of neck. Still to tighten up, a tad, in front. Super length and angulation. Moved well. 3 ASHARAA ROYAAL KAMAMBAA (MRS J E LARKIN)

1 TOKWE GINVINCIBLE WITH MUTOKO (MS P NASH) Pretty, feminine head, Well balanced with good topline. Lovely spring of pastern into good feet. No exaggeration. Once settled, top mover in this class. True coming and going with nice, easy long stride in profile. Well handled. 2 PRIORPARK PIPSQUEAK (MISS H PARSONS) Only 9 months but stood well in Junior with still so much to come. Lovely shoulder, strong topline and correct croup. Good depth of brisket down to elbow. Good length and slope to pastern. Lovely profile movement. Well handled. Will watch with interest. 3 DIAMONDRIDGE DREAM CATCH ME (MR & MRS K J BARNES)

1 MUTOKO'S BLAZE OF GLORY (MS P NASH) Still very much a baby at 8 months needs to grow into herself. Stood alone but moved beautifully. Very good feet and pasterns and lovely rear angulation.

1 RUBICON RED DOTHE RIGHT THING ROYAAL PEARL (IMP MNE) (MRS J E LARKIN) Caught my eye entering the ring. So much quality. Very feminine head and expression with super reach of neck nicely crested. Strong level topline held at all times. Good straight front with well balance front and back angulation. Lovely size. Moved out effortlessly, true coming and going. Considered for top honours but just lost out to the more mature bitches. Handled to perfection. 2 SWEET LITTLE WALLFLOWER (MISS M SMITH) Another of the correct size. Pretty, feminine head, very well balance, no exaggeration. Tight feet and good pasterns. True coming and going. Second best mover in the class today 3 SOFALA SMART JAZZ AT SANSILVER (MR D J & MRS L L SEAMAN)

1 DIAMONDRIDGE DISTANT BEAT OF KAZEMBE (MRS N WEBSTER) Caught my eye in this class and did not disappoint on the move. Very good outline with strong topline, which she held at all times. Super shoulder with lovely front and hind angulation. Shown in top condition and expertly handled. Considered for top honours but just lost out on maturity. 2 HESSLEWELL HEARTBEAT JW (MRS A & MR B DAVIS) Beautiful size, unexaggerated, with nothing overdone. Beautifully balanced with excellent top and underline. Correct ribbing. Movement effortless and true. Fought hard for top spot in this very good class. 3 MIRENGO'S MUSOLA AT KAMILI (MRS L S MAYLOR)

Open – Bitch Class of the day. Five beautiful bitches in the cards and six beautiful bitches let go. Really was splitting hairs on placings. Entries: 13 Absentees: 1

1 KIROMOL KENDI JW SHCM (MR P & MRS E & MRS L STOREY & PIEHL) Could not be denied her place at the head of this superb class. Now fully mature and come into her own. Beautiful head and expression with excellent depth of muzzle. Lovely shoulder and return of upper arm. So very fit. Came into her own on the move. True coming and going with an unmatched relaxed, ground covering profile stride. Respect to her stand in handler who got the most out of her today. BCC 2 CH KIROMOL MIDSUMMER SPIRIT JW (MR P & MRS E & MRS L STOREY & PIEHL) Another beautiful bitch and half-sister to the winner. Many of the same attributes with lovely feminine head, beautiful outline, excellent shoulder and return of upper arm. Super fit. Could have been my winner standing but out moved by her more mature kennel mate today. Well handled. RBCC 3 CH SHINGWIDSI TSHADI ROSE (MR J & MISS H KIRBY & MANSFIELD)
