Bournemouth Ch show – English Setters 10 Aug 2018

Thanks you for your entries – all exhibits were well presented and of good temperament. Hind movement was poor in some exhibits though and this was a disappointment.

SBD / B. (1) 1. Bennet’s Mariglen Blue Star at Caprow. 5yo blue dog, dark oval eye, low earset, correct proportions to head. Well ribbed up and sufficient depth of chest, well built, moved with plenty of drive due to good muscle tone. Of good substance and pleasing in outline.

PD/ B. (1, 1 abs)

JD/B (4, 2 abs) 1. Harris, Harris and Bridgewater’s Bridgella’s First Edition for Konakakela. Light orange dog, beautiful head for such a young dog. Good breadth to chest, balanced angulation. Low hocks with pleasing width of stifle. Slightly long in feet. Needs to mature in coat to complete the picture.

2. Bryant, Bryant and Hollis’ Phenset Sparks Will Fly. 14 month old blue bitch, at that difficult in-between stage today. Very elegant in head, beautiful eye and expression. A typical youngster in that her back legs have clearly done more growing than the front ones at this point. Maturity should bring improved balance and improve the overall ratio of body length and height. Movement not very polished at the moment but I hope that will improve with maturity. Neat feet

PGD (0)

LD (2). RBD, 1.Harris and Montell’s Culverwell Front Page Story. Tri dog with attractive profile generally, though more length of neck would give more elegance. Good head with well defined stop, low earset. Well off for bone, low hocks. Moved with drive. 2. Bennet and Bennet’s Mariglen Blue Star at Caprow

OD (3, 1 abs). 1, BD, BoB. Collier’s Sh Ch Gameright’s Mr Blue Sky at Roszarke (Imp Bel). Blue dog, substantial yet still with that essential setter elegance. Classic head with oval eye, low earset. Deep in chest with good heart room. Held topline very well on the move, lots of drive, level tail carriage. 2. Williams’ and Ralphe’s Sorbus Pierre Cardin. Light orange dog, head of pleasing proportions. Not so good in topline today, and tail held too high on the move. Needs to settle a bit in order to show himself off to best advantage.

PGB (1) 1, RBB, Tucker’s Niddbeck Smokey Opal at Walshaw JW. Dark tri, very attractive and feminine. Balanced angulation without exaggeration, low hocks, neat feet, moved true.

LB (1). 1. Montell’s Culverwell Celeste. 3 year old blue. A very pleasing picture overall, every aspect of her fitted together to make a balanced whole. Moved with enthusiasm, good tail action

OB (2, 1 abs) 1. BB, Deering’s Skylark of Rosetimber. Pale orange with beautiful dark eye. Lovely elegant neck flowing into well constructed shoulders. Good in hind quarters too, the whole combining together with her excellent muscle tone to give exemplary movement. Just lacking coat today to complete the final picture
