Breed: Beagle

RICHMOND CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW 7th Sept 2018

BEAGLE

Thanks to Richmond Championship Dog Show for the invitation to judge Beagles, it was especially pleasing as I showed our first homebred Beagle “Morsefield Mischief” at our first Ch Show at Richmond in 1973 under Veronica Collins and gained a VHC in a strong class, we were well and truly “hooked”.

It was a pleasant sunny day and a lovely entry awaited me. My thanks to the efficient stewards for keeping the ring running smoothly.

I was looking for a well balanced hound, with pleasing headpiece, soundly constructed who could move out freely with good reach and drive.

I was disappointed that quite a number of hounds were carrying far too much weight which spoilt their outline and affected their movement.

On the plus side the overall quality was of a good standard and I was pleased with my winners. The top classes were very competitive which made for some hard decisions, so that some exhibits that I liked were unplaced.

VD (1)

1 Davies. Ch Barrvale Overture.

Have done this handsome broken tri well previously as a junior in 2011, now at 8yrs still looking good, has a handsome headpiece with well set leathers, dark eyes and soft expression, he is well angulated throughout, has deep ribbing and is firm in body.

Moved out freely with good drive and carries himself so well. A lovely showman who still enjoys his day in the ring. BV
