Firstly I must thank the officers and committee for the invitation to judge at their lovely show, fantastic hospitality and friendly atmosphere, such a privilege to be asked to judge at such a prestigious show.  Secondly thank you to the exhibitors who entrusted my judgement and allowed me to go over their lovely dogs.

Irish Red and White Setters. Veteran D/B(2,1) – 1. Walker’s Sh Ch & Ir Sh Ch Vanders Va Voom Avec Wroxham. A mature gentleman very true to type, good plains in head, front construction very sound with good angulation, strong in bone, muscled well into shoulder, the set of which is well laid back to give correct angles to front, from withers to tail set he was solid across the top line even on the move, well muscled to both first and second thigh giving powerful effortless movement, angulation at rear was spot on, overall very pleasing and in good condition. BD, BVIB. 2. Mole’s Dalriach Silver Tassie At Edincraw. Lovely girl a lot more compact to 1, typical head study with everything in proportion, neat steady frontage with good angulation, strong across top line from a good shoulder, plenty of sprung rib deep and wide, with adequate angulation at rear moved well from well muscled thighs, well presented. PD (3)- 1. Martin’s Laoirebay Steel Blue Ocean. Nice dog of good outline, strong in head with eye and ear set good, good colour to eye, strong through neck to well laid shoulder, sound frontage burly and set well for angles, withers to tail good stayed well and level even on the move, strong hind quarters and in good coat condition BPIB. 2. Knox and Jakins Terne Des Coris Qalimero at Coolfin (Imp Bel), very close to 1 in fixtures and fittings, good eye rounded and nicely coloured, frontage a little narrow to 1 but neat angulation, good across shoulder through top line to tail set, strong in the rear, well toned in thigh, nicely angled, moved well albeit a little off centre, this may have been down to the surface, presented in good condition. JD (1) – 1. Repeat of 2nd above. PGD (1) – 1. Collins Romaunt Bloomin Grand at Forestpoint. Substantial dog very much to type, good proportions to head, good fore chest and angulation in front assembly, strong in shoulder which were well laid back, sturdy top line even on move, good set on of tail, well toned in muscle at both 1st and 2nd thigh, neat underline to the couplings, angulation to rear quarters was good, moved, handled and presented well. RBD. OD (4,2) – 1. Ward’s Cornadore Argyle With Copperwhite (Imp). Strong dog very much to breed type, strong head with pronounced stop, proportions to head were of a good standard with a lovely dark eye, good through shoulder from strong neck, sound front assembly, plenty of depth to chest well shaped and sprung,  good construction to rear quarters, which all added up to a lovely movement. 2. Knox Southsides Space Oddity at Coolfin. Good looking boy with an outline giving substance and soundness, a little bit fazed with surroundings so I couldn’t go over him properly which is a shame, his movement at times was encouraging but it was like he wanted to be somewhere else, perhaps next time. PB (2,1) – 1. Callaghan’s Laoirebay Penny Lane. Young girl with a nice outline, from good shoulder across topline to tail set was neat and stayed level on the move, neat construction to front, tight tidy feet, good angulation to rear, well toned in muscle, balanced and strong on the move. JB (1) – 1. Repeat of 1st above. PGB (4,1) – 1. Wade’s Oldstone Charlie’s Angel. Lovely bitch compact but very much to type, sweet head and expression, good colour to eye, nice frontage with good angulation, up on good shoulder, from withers to tail set firm and level, very good rear angulation with well toned thighs, moved the best in the class straight and true with drive. 2. Martin’s Corranroo Cascade At Shannonstyle. Just as sweet and of to type as 1st just a little heavier, strong through neck to well set shoulder, front angulation good, sound chest cavity nice and deep, 1st and 2nd thigh toned nicely, moved with drive and presented well. OB (4,1) – 1. Tait’s Lovenjoel Sleeping Beauty. Very neat bitch of good overall outline and construction and very much to breed type, neat dark eye on well shaped head, from strong neck through well set shoulders, withers to tail set strong top line, front assembly overall very good with angles to give the reach forward on move, well toned 1st and 2nd thighs set on very good angulated rear, very neat around hocks up to stifle, made in this way movement was easy, by far the best dog on the movement front. BB, BOB. 2. Walker’s Zendarric It’s A Kind Of Magic within Wroxham JW, overall very close to 1st, a lighter eye but still full of expression, good on the outline, with well set shoulder from strong neck across nice level top line to good tail set, angulation to front and rear good, well balanced in muscle tone across all areas, chest cavity strong deep and well sprung, moved soundly and in a straight and true way, handled and presented well. RBB.
