Critique for Beagles

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge their show and their wonderful hospitality. I really loved my entry both in numbers and quality. My top winners were exciting and stand the breed in good stead. However I did find that a lot of less experienced breeders were showing stock sired by the more popular dogs. Please remember the sire cannot work miracles. Your bitch needs to be of sound construction and have a good headpiece. It is never too late to acquire a good bitch form an established, experienced breeder with years of experience. You can also go back to them of advice on bloodlines etc. Remember it costs as much to show a good prospect as one with little hope of winning. The experienced breeders will use the popular stud dogs with excellent results because they have quality, correct bitches in the first place.

I was concerned with the quality of the lower dog classes. Really watch your young stock on the move with a critical eye. My later classes were full of quality. The bitches were much stronger as usual.

I really enjoyed my appointment as I have been away from the ring for over a year and I thank you for the privilege of trusting my opinion of your hounds.
