Bath Canine Society

Breed: Best in Show
Having lived in Bath over thirty years ago it was a real honour to be invited to Judge BIS at this Show. It almost felt like returning home and I thank the Officers and Committee for the opportunity. The layout is excellent and the ring was large and flat,so giving the dogs the best opportunity to perform. The finalists looked stunning and the two Group Judges Have to be congratulated on sending through such lovely dogs. I can safely say I thought each of them excellent examples of their respective breeds, and I knew they would be difficult to separate. After the initial handling and movement the heat and humidity began to tell. The Jap Chin is quite outstanding but is still a puppy and began to play his handler up a little. The Norwich in beautiful coat glorious head and expression just lacked a little on the move, as did the St Bernard and the Pyrenean it was extremely humid. The Pointer again gave her handler a hard time on the move but looked good stacked with a crisp outline. So it came downt to the two winners from the final day. BIS went to Robertson & Doherty PBG CH/ Soletrader Magic Mike, what to say about this dog, he is just a wonderful example of his breed and has that extra something which makes him impossible to overlook he is foot perfect and never lets up showing and just couldn't be denied this award and I suspect many more to come I just thought him outstanding. RBIS the French Bulldog Cund & Harrop, Chembull The Aviatot, one of my favourite btpreeds and he is already making a name for himself in the breed, glorious head and expression, great bone deep body with correct top line first rate quarters with just enough angulation. At one with his handler and such a good mover absolutely true both ways. I feel he is a great find, and will put this lovely breed on the map as he should feature well in Group Competition on this form, beautiful animal. Ernie Paterson
