Not the best of days for a smooth coated hunting breed, but all hounds managed the conditions well. I wish we could have been outside and in a larger ring to make the most of their movement.

2nd: 3141 WOODCOCK Miss V Abbotsoak Greese Lightnin 

I will critique these puppies together, littermates and naturally many points of similarity not least their lovely heads. It would have been so easy to have gone for the bitch, so much to like about her compared to her more gangly brother, beautiful head and expression, using her ears delightfully, well proportioned outline with neat and easy to assess action. Yet the brother…. given another handler he "almost" stopped mucking about and eventually one could see the breed typical action across the short sequence of steps he allowed me to assess him on. Lovely outline and that correct gap between bottom of brisket and elbow. He’s full of promise and I hope will be an exceptional adult when the brain fairy visits, I will be looking out for him.    

Class 1253 PGD/B NO ENTRIES 

Class 1254 OD/B (5 Entries) Abs: 2 

1st: 3139 CARTER, Mrs A & HOZEMPA Miss R Ch Amahte Runnin On Jamaican Time (Imp) JW Sh.CM Best of Breed. All three hounds had many points of merit and it was really interesting trying to divide them.

I kept coming back to this quality hound with a really exquisite head, eye and ear carriage. He is well constructed, each piece flows into the next. He handled the conditions well when moving, keeping a steady stride. Some dogs “ scream their breed” and this one did it for me.    

2nd: 3142 WOODCOCK Miss V Ch Snowlief Turn The Page, res best dog. Another high quality dog hound, super movement and showed himself off well, preferred head of winner. 

3rd: 3136 CARTER Mr N D & Mrs A Afilador Room On The Broom Sh.CM.
